  1. Brick by brick we must start anew. With their village left in ruins from the war, what was left of the two Avalonian families decided to rebuild in the country-side in the hope of hiding away from further turmoil. Somewhere to cook was the first priority. A hearty meal was on the minds of all the workers as they would not rest until the first structure, the kitchen, was completed. It was bittersweet news to hear that the war was over but it did not sit well to see the soldiers returning home in such a poor state. The price of freedom was perhaps at the cost of the sons of Avalonia. Will be uploading some more photos of the build onto my Flickr https://flic.kr/p/2aEUsx6
  2. With the weather warming, Lady Gwenllian decided to travel about to meet her neighbors. One of the nearest settlements was just down the coast from Prenmôr, the small fishing village of Flewd. Upon meeting with the town elders, Lady Gwenllian found that this village had been particularly hard hit by the drow raids (a terrible chapter in Avalonia's history that Lady Gwenllian was just learning about), losing almost half their population and over two-thirds of their buildings, including an ancient shrine to the sea-god, Neptune. Coupled with several seasons of poor fish harvests, the villagers had no money to rebuild and were beginning to starve. The sight of starving children and townsfolk broke Lady Gwenllian's heart, and she vowed to help the people of Flewd. Conferring with Lady Seren on the spot, she devised a way to help. Speaking to the village elders, she laid out her plan: Lady Gwenllian would help the villagers rebuild their homes in exchange for their work. She could afford to pay them to fish the waters around Prenmôr, and if the fishing was not good, they would have work as laborers helping to build her castle. They would use the money made from their fishing along with help from what coffers she had brought with her, to build new homes. Lady Gwenllian offered to let the villagers build new homes in Prenmôr as residents, or would rebuild their homes in Flewd, as they chose. The elders gathered a council of the entire village that evening, and Lady Gwenllian was invited. The villagers were grateful of Lady Gwenllian's offer, and after some discussion, the villagers were excited about the offer to move a short distance down the coast to continue their trade under the protection of a lord and a fortified town. Flewd held too many bad memories of loss, and its vulnerable position was highlighted by the drow raids. Most importantly, the villagers voted to move the ancient shrine to be rebuilt at Prenmôr. Lady Gwenllian agreed, and offered to find a dwarven sculptor to cut the main statuary out of stone and an elf to decorate the site surrounding the statue with copper scrollwork.
  3. Challenge I: Luthog Wathtower Even though Updale was not drown into the Great War, they also had suffered from devastation. A bunch of robbers who drove in the funnel put fire on the old watchtower in wood. Now it was time to rebuild the watchtower. Dalle when decide to rebuild it properly in stone. Calling for the best craftsman in the country to rise the building. After the tower been completed, it will once again control the River Loka and the country's border to the west. Constructing the new watchtower at Luthog Dalle visits the construction site and the soon completed tower. Architect Roffe shows him round the building.
  4. A mercenary's story: Part III If you missed, here is the previous parts: A mercenary's story: Part I A mercenary's story: Part II We left the young boy's story, when he entered the local prison, after he was captured after stealing. The guard escorted him in to the barracks courtyard, where another guard escorted him onward. The door opened, the darkness, the scent frightened the boy, but the guard tossed him inside, and down the stairs. - Move on! - shouted to him the jailer. - If you were brave enough to steal, don't be afraid from the dark... The door was locked, and Conrad was locked up, with other criminals. Thiefs, svindlers, murderers, all of them was locked away in this prison, until the sheriff came to town, to judge the criminals of the town. Conrad was never so afraid like now. He wished he wouldn't left his home. He missed the good old memories, when he played and made pranks, with his friends. Fortunately the others didn't bothered him, they took only the food from him, he was starving for days. The days passed slowly, but the final day draw near. Conrad almost lost hope, he was thinking, when he some way gets out of here, he will find the nearest churche, and sign up to be cleric, or a priest. It was the last day befor judgement. The others tired to catch the rat, to have a little fun, Conrad was sitting next to the iron bars. Suddenly the upper door opened and footsteps can be heard. The jailer was also surprised he didn't expect for anyone. He readied his weapon, and waited for the mysterious visitor. Could be he the sheriff, or some one else, who can redeem the boy and the others? To be continued...
  5. Challenge I : Repairs on the Elvish port of Falahuas Lord Faladrin being absent, it is to Lady Walahaeria, the elf Princess of the old evish clan living in Falahuas, to supervise the repairs of the old part of the port. The port was built by the Elves long time ago and suffered many damages from the Drow during Lord Raavage reign of terror. The main warehouse was totally burned down and was left with only ruined walls. The actual repairs were focused on rebuilding the roof of the warehouse and conforting the walls to support the new roof. Hopefully for the port activity, the lighthouse was kept nearly intact and was kept functional. The elvish falconer was already at work sending eagles and hawks all around the country from the top of the lighthouse. It is an important part of the mailing system of the city of Falahuas, but riders are still usefull too. Speaking of riders, there is a green rider arriving ! He stopped his exhausted horse at the level of the elvish princess, bind to her and deliver the message : "My Lady, I have been sent by Lord Faladrin. His ship, the Bouncing Frog, sprang a leak during its return trip and had to reach land at the southwestern coasts of the Enchanted Forest in a quite deserted area. He needs asistance to repair the ship in order to drag it to the city. So I was sent to you to require your help. Here is the list of the materials he will need to repair the ship." Lady Walaheria thanked the green messenger and ordered a team to leave immediately to reach the position of her husband. Here is my entry for the Challenge. A quite heavy build for me... I integrated the story of this challenge build in my main storyline and hope to continue soon this story ! Hope you'll like this build !

    Moto the Fire Dragon

Moto the Fire Dragon A freebuild for Avalonia < Previous Elemental Dragon Moto and his rider, the elf Lord Joto, are the Fire Guardians protecting the Elvish kingdom of Mwamba from any fiery threats, especially from volcanoes. Moto's wings are smaller than those of many of his peers, enabling him to crawl into lava tubes and into magma chambers without catching the membranes on any sharp edges. Lord Joto sits on the Elemental Council of Mwamba and was one of those who supported gifting dragons to the ragtag collection of Hesperian exiles that showed up on the streets of Bandari, including Galaria. More pictures: ______________________________________________________ ............................................................................................................ Moto finishes the collection of the Elemental Guardians of Mwamba, both dragons and riders. I need to build a council chamber for them to meet and show the story of Galaria and her friends being given permission to form a soul-bond with infant dragons and learn the basics of raising them, but I have been having trouble finding the time lately for much building. Hopefully soon! I've got some other stuff ready to go, but I need to have a day to take the pictures; maybe this weekend, unless another hurricane decides to drop lots of rain on us... C&C welcome. Moto is probably my second favorite dragon I've made. I was rather pleased with the base on this one, so hopefully @TitusV doesn't find something to dislike about this base, too! (I don't think any lines are too straight on the front, at least...)
  8. A mercenary's story: Part II If you missed, here is the previous part: A mercenary's story: Part I Conrad realised after a several days in the wilderness, there are more sinister foes, which can't be defeted, by sword... Hunger. His dreams to become the great warrior, quickly changed, to be a common thief, who needs to steal his daily meal. First, he took some vegetables and fruits from the local farms, sometimes some eggs. The days turned to weeks, and the weeks to months. He was braver enough now,to go in to smaller towns and villages, to steal from the marketplaces. Bread and meat was back on his menu. For his deeds,he never slept on the same place again. But he become more and more careless, and bolder. He decided, to stop living only for the next day, and live... atleast for after it. And this plan caused his loss. On the marketpalce, he tired to pickpocket a lady. But his fingers wasn't so nimble, and the women cried out for the guards. Conrad was captured, and escorted to the local prison. Will he survive, behind iron bars? Find it out, follow his story.
  9. The Tales of Lady Gwenllian 0. Introduction 1. The arrival of Lady Gwenllian aboard the Cedar Serpent 2. Scouting a Site 3. Early Spring in Prenmôr Having received a charter from Queen Ylspeth to build and a license to crenellate, Lady Gwenllian and her small host made plans for a castle and built shelters for the winter. While temporary, these structures were designed to last several years while the main fortifications were built. The two-story, dirt-floored structures were framed out of timber (garnered by skillful negotiations of Myellan with the local elven tribes of the nearby forest), and the walls were sealed with wattle and daub. Because of the season of her arrival, it was too late in the year to establish quarries and there was no stone to be had. The thatched roofing was constructed from local plants and grasses, and a hole was left at the apex of the chimneyless structure to allow smoke from the central firepit to escape. In early spring, as the weather began to warm and the snows melted, the dead grasses began to give way to new growth. Alis was given the task of caring for the fowl, Chwyd took to sweeping up (having vowed to never voyage by ship again due to his seasickness), and Lady Gwenllian led by example, hefting supplies along with her people. The new Avalonian colors hung proudly over Lady Gwenllian's house. Over the winter, she and her lady at arms, Seren, had been planning the new fortifications. Quarries would need to be established, timber would have to be sourced, workers would have to be found, and all with the cooperation of the local elven and human communities in such a manner as to preserve the environment. Castwyr and Myellan had spent part of the winter getting to know the neighbors of this region. The winter had not been particularly harsh and Lady Gwenllian felt optimistic about the upcoming spring in her new home, deciding to name her small village Prenmôr, meaning 'refuge' in her native tongue. I welcome comments and criticisms, and I especially appreciate specifics--if you like/dislike something, please tell me why, and if you see areas for improvements, I would like to know what I'm missing. I'm trying to learn how to make my builds better, so any tips or advice is appreciated!

    Hewa the Air Dragon

Hewa the Air Dragon A freebuild for Avalonia < Previous Elemental Dragon ... Next Elemental Dragon > Hewa and his rider, the Elvish King Mfalme, are the Air Guardians of Mwamba, soaring about the lofty peaks and through the clouds safeguarding the land from hostile threats. King Mfalme rules the land from the City of Bandari, where he is assisted by other elves, centaurs, gnomes, and humans. He graciously allowed Galaria to bond with a dragon of her own, which she and Henjin Quilones rode back from Mwamba to Avalonia, to start their settlement of Druidham in the Mystic Isles, a haven for druids and dragonriders alike. Other companions of the two exiles also were given dragons to raise as lifelong soul-joined dragonriders, the start of a new weyr of dragons in the West. More pictures: _______________________________________________ .............................................................................................. I tried something different with Hewa, as I have always loved the idea of feathered dragons. The wings were a bit of a struggle, but I am fairly happy with how they turned out. C&C welcome.

    Avalonian Traffic Jam

Avalonian Traffic Jam A freebuild for Avalonia Poor Joffir the shepherd always longed to stay awhile and chat with Bellia, Farmer Chereo's daughter, but whenever he did so, a long pile-up of sheep and farmers ensued along the narrow country road. That, and Strellia, Bellia's mother, was always watching carefully, ensuring that nothing funny happened between her beautiful daughter and the homely and smelly shepherd. It's a hard life being a stinky shepherd. But at least he has his sheep. More pictures: __________________________________________________ .................................................................................................... A build for the Group Collaboration category of the 2018 Summer Joust, together with @TitusV, @ZlatanXVIGustaf, and @The Maestro. Our industry was parchment (or vellum, in a non-technical way), and I got the living sheep part of the gig. They'll probably post their parts soon enough, I would think. C&C welcome, as usual. The pictures probably would have looked better against a grey background rather than white, but as a group we were all using the white background, so the sheep horns got lost. Oh, and I totally stole the sheep design from @TheLordOfBricks, inspired by this build.
  12. Around the ruined granary, the rebuilding process started to take shape. Both peasnts and soldiers worked hard, to rebuild the storage building, befor the start of the harvest. Winter was far, but with everyday, it came closer, Conrad wanted tobuild, of fix many buildings, capable, to store food, for the time of need. "- If neccesary the lords of Avalonia can give shelter to the refugees. But if we are not focusing, to store our food, for the winter, we can't feed even our soldiers." -Said Conrad, every time, if someone asked him, why not building, or repairing the houses.

    Maji the Water Dragon

Maji the Water Dragon A freebuild for Avalonia < Previous Elemental Dragon ... Next Elemental Dragon > Maji is the Water Guardian of the coastal regions of the land of Mwamba, together with her elf rider, Lady Mvua. They work together to keep the land safe from any threats from the water, and preserve the water from any threats from those who would wish to harm it. They were some of the first to welcom Henjin Quilones and Galaria to Bandari, and to show them around Mwamba, when they arrived there in their exile. More pictures: ___________________________________________________ ....................................................................................................... Back with another elemental dragon, this time water. This one was much harder to photograph with my setup, due to the dark color of Maji's hide. Still very posable and all that, but I have to admit I don't like her as much as Kijani. C&C welcome, as usual.
  14. Zamorah - The hidden city The city of Zamorah is located on top of a high mountain. It's located in the north of Avalonia at the border to Mitgardia by the river. The city is predominantly populated by humans, elfs, dwarves and fauns. For many hundreds of years, The Aurum Order has ruled Zamorah with an ancient family of men named af Drachen as their leaders. Surrounding the mountain are larger land areas belonging to the city. For the most part, the lands are covered with farms, livestock farmers and smaller villages. All of it suppling the city with food. Zamorah is now looking for new trading partners to promote their exclusive products of Aurumium as well as dragon eggs and dragons. The history of Zamorah The legend says, that an older druid and his wife found a solitary mountain peak when the druid searched for a place of total privacy to immerse himself in the secrets of the druids. At the top of the mountain he settled and called the place Zamorah, after his wife. After years of studying and meditating, the druid felt a disturbance in his surroundings. A weak disturbance that slowly increased in his consciousness until he could not think of anything else. To find the source of the disturbance, he climbed down the mountain top. On his way down the mountain he got lost and ended up in a cave. As he entered the darkness of the cave, a buzz began to build up in his ears and he felt a strong force in the darkness. In the dim light, he noticed a shimmering in the cave's rear wall – a beautiful precious metal with a strong elemental power. The druid rushed back up the mountain, picked up a sledgehammer and chisel and climbed back down to the cave. After many days of hacking, and many tools broken, he finally loosened a piece of metal from the wall. He rushed back up and examined the metal. It was breathtakingly beautiful with a color like gold, but was much harder. He tried to work the metal for days but was unable to make even the slightest mark on it, or affect it in any way. Despite his – in his own opinion – extensive knowledge of alchemy, he failed to process it. He wrote letters to three of his most trustworthy friends and sent it with his owl – the elf druid called Sintrimi in The Enchanted Forest, the dwarf metallurgist named Aldur in the Mitgardia's mines and the human mage named Primus from southern Avalonia. They heard the call and came to his aid on the mountain peak. After several months of examining and testing the metal, they found that an extreme heat was required to affect the metal. A heat that could only be induced by dragon breath. The druid went out and searched for dragons in the Nocturnus mountain range. When he finally found one, he used his zoolinguistic skills to communicate with the dragon. The dragon agreed to help – if they could pay with a big fat ox for dinner. With the help of the dragon the druids were able to get the metal hot enough to process it like regular steel. After the metal had cooled though, they realized it as hard as steel and looked like precious gold. They named the new found metal Aurumium. The druid and his friends quickly understood that this new metal was very valuable and that they had to keep it a secret. They formed a covenant and agreed to keep their knowledge a secret from the outside world, not sharing their knowledge until the last piece of the metal was mined. Thus, the Aurum Order was formed. The druid and his heirs would stand as rulers over Zamorah along with the other members of The Aurum Order, consisting of descendants of the elf, the dwarf and the human mage. In order to continue melting and working the metal, a long-term collaboration between druids and dragons began in Zamorah. The Aurum order vowing to give the dragons protection and food in exchange for heating the ovens. So more and more dragons settled in caves in the mountain and made it their home for generations to come. Centuries passed as Zamorah and its population grew into a large town on the mountain top, while the mountain beneath it was slowly eroding when mining for the precious metal continued. To protect themselves from the outside world, mages were given the task of creating and holding a large protective magic dome around the entire mountain. The dome protected the mountain and the city from the eyes of Historicas inhabitants. Only those who had been invited by The Aurum Order could see the mountain and its town. For all others, it was completely invisible. The spell also ensured that those who had been invited, could not tell anyone else that Zamorah existed. Even under torture, one could not get information about its whereabouts. Some had heard stories about an old hidden city, but since its location and name was unknown, it was said to be a myth. From the Aurumium, the inhabitants of Zamorah made exclusive weapons, armor and other items which they then sold to a few of the richest people in Historica. When mining Aurumium, they also found other metals and gems that allowed them to trade with others in Historica. Revenues made Zamorah and The Aurum Order very rich. The long cooperation with the dragons resulted in a good connection between the druids and the dragons. Over time, a unique language developed. Dragon riders were trained and special dragons were bred for the riders as transportation and to protect the lands. The riders and dragons created a very strong bond with each other. Over time, the other residents of Zamorah and the dragons also learned to have simple communication. Dragon eggs and specially bred dragons were also sold to some of the richest in Historica. However, they are very unusual. In order to protect themselves against intruders the walls of Zamorah were fortified and strengthened with Aurumium. As a resultat of this, the whole city is shining on top of the mountain. Zamorah has also got heavily armed knights and dragon riders to protect the city if anyone were to accidently stumble across it. In order to prevent such a thing occurring, access to the city was very limited. The only way to get up to the city is by water to reach the port inside the hollow mountain. From there, a lift can take invited guests from the port to the top. These lifts can be pulled at risk of attacks or intrusion. Aside from the lifts, the only way to get to the city is by air. Something that few outside of Zamorah are able to venture. Present day Prologue - The Throne of Zamorah After decades of mining Aurumium, the entire mountain has been carved out and the Aurumium deposits in the mountain is nearly depleted. When the aging ruler Druid Zull of Drachen lay on his death bed, his only son – and heir to the throne – suffered a terrible accident. A mining tunnel collapsed over him and his two companions during a routine inspection in the mines. When their bodies were found, they were so badly injured that they could not be properly identified. Only one survived the accident and could tell what happened. Just before Zull of Drachen passed away he decided that the ruling of Zamorah would be handed over to The Aurum Order, as no heir was present. Shortly thereafter, the Aurum Order decided to release the ancient secret of Zamorah. Because the Aurumium deposits were nearing depletion, the city needed find ways to support its inhabitants and seek up new markets for the remaining weapons, armor and other merchandise of the processed Aurumium, as well as dragons and dragon eggs. The time to make themselves known was now, given that the war in the East had ended and Queen Ylspeth had just opened up for new trading opportunities in Varlyrio. So in order to increase trade, Zamorah has now finally lowered its protective dome so that it can be seen and known to all. Where is Zamorah? On these maps you can se the location of Zamorah. Ovenntrie Castle

Ovenntrie Castle A freebuild for Avalonia. Just off of the coast to the west of Avalonia, in the waters near the mouth of the River Lotharia, lies an island inhabited by Men. These Men are unique in that they are the only outsiders permitted near the famously exclusionary enclave of Hesperia, where High Elves, ruled by Fingolë the Golden, reside. Their castle is joined to the mainland by a bridge high enough for even the high masted ships of the elves to sail beneath, with room and more to spare. The humans have become wealthy due to their exclusive access to high-quality Elvish goods, and the elves have enjoyed the influx of money as well from the trade. It is not uncommon to see the ships of the Elves sailing into the Ovenntrie harbor to dock alongside the fishing vessels of the men, unloading their goods. The Hesperian Elves utilize enormous eagles as mounts for their messengers, so the men of Ovenntrie designed their keep to accommodate the preferences of the birds for a lofty landing and take-off position. Due to the amount of money involved, and the considerable amount of respect shown by the humans towards the elves, the settlement is a haven of peace and prosperity for both sides. Here an Elvish vessel approaches under the bridge, coming to unload its goods and take on others. The castle features a blacksmith shop and stables near the gate, as well as a decorative fountain that also serves as the water source for the castle, keeping them well-supplied in the event of a siege. A similar fountain in the town square below gives life and vitality to the celebrations of the humans. Long stairs lead from the town to the side gate of the castle More pictures: _____________________________ ........................................................... This was a build I did for the Summer Joust 2018, entered into the 48x48 castle category. I was pretty pleased with how it turned out, despite it being my first serious venture into the world of microscale building. I might just have gotten hooked though, so expect to see more microscale builds (and minifig scale, too) in the days and weeks to come. C&C welcome!

    Fortress of St. Jocosa

The walls around the Church of St. Jocosa have protected it for hundreds of years against enemies. Located in the mountains of Avalonia, the church is currently being guarded by the soldiers of Eryos. This was built for the 48x48 castle category in the 2018 Summer Joust. It was really fun to try to fit an entire castle on a confined space. I got the idea of creating a fortified church from Tim Goddard's creation, Abbey of St. Rumaire.
  17. With his new ship The Spirit of Eryos, Prince Kevin the Navigator can finally live up to his name as a Navigator! He has set sail in search of new land, and is currently navigating through a cluster of tiny islands seemingly inhabited by Monkeys. Bartholomeus, his new apprentice, is travelling with him. Wow, I don't know how I managed to finish this in time for the challenge deadline! The image quality is not great, as it was rushed. I also don't have a different colored backdrop, so the sails are hard to see. Sorry! The only non-LEGO parts are the sails, which are craft foam with designs done by markers. The ship most closely resembles a carrack, although instead of a third mast I connected the back sail to the main mast. The ship has some rigging and a full interior. The hardest part about the build was probably making sure there were no gaps in the shaping of the front of the hull, as well as making the entire hull bow in just slightly.
  18. Prologue: Bran was able to get a job on a ship going to the islands of Yureishima. The fare was long and exhausting. They faced sea serpents, low sand banks and at the end a fearsome storm. On the third hour of the storm, the boat was challenged with enormous amounts of water hitting the deck until the cause was lost. A large wave flooded the deck and everything beneath. Every passenger tried to grab something suitable for floating, when the boat started to flip to its side. Bran fell into the ocean holding nothing more than a single board. Hours went by, dancing on the high waves, gasping for air every time he could, before the strangest thing happened. His feet touched ground. Orien: It seemed he washed upon a shore. Surprisingly the island showed some kind of civilization. Or at least it used to have that, because the buildings on the shore looked abandoned. The next hour a few more lucky souls drifted close to the shores of this island. Bran and his newly acquired best friends scouted the surroundings of the old buildings, until one of the men found a bookroll about this. These buildings used to be the Temple of Airjitzu and was inhabited by a clan of martial arts warriors. Further in the logs, they found out a folk called the Ori ambushed them and destroyed most of the clan. They were in luck, the buildings were filled with ancient katanas and building tools. Bran placed a few guards on strategic points and the rest used the next couple of days to make the buildings habitable and finding food. The latter wasn’t too hard, the scaled animals crawled out of the ocean themselves and the waters are flooded by fish. Anomaly: For the fourth time within a day’s cycle the ground shook, like an earthquake, but different. Bran went on a stroll, scouting the rest of the island (if it is just that). After just a brief moment he encountered something strange. The sandy surface transformed into greens, more dense than he remembered about Avalonia. The plant-life had even stranger seed-like flowers and the plants moved. Further ahead a large root grew taller than the clouds and with every burst of growth the ground trembled and made a deafening roar. It looks like the plants are taking over the island... So is this a safe haven or not even close to that...

    Old Statue

In the countryside of Avalonia lies an old statue. Nobody knows when it was built or who built it, or even who it commemorates. This is my 5th freebuild, which means I can finally enter the 5th anniverary challenge! It was a bit rushed, but I didn't want to make something just so I can say I have 5 freebuilds, so I still wanted to build to the best of my ability. The design is quite simple, but I like how it turned out!
  20. The Bouncing Frog After the defeat of Ravaage and the fall of the Spire, the little principality of Falahuas in Avalonia became more peaceful. The Drow became rare and their dreadful raids on the countryside of the Avalonian province stopped de facto. Lord Faladrin managed to secure some safe trade routes to re-connect the city of Falahuas to the rest of the Guild and, in his efforts to dynamise Falahuas, he developped the port activities by using Elvish craftsmen and ship masters to rebuild the quays and the shipyards. In these elvish shipyards the best ship builder he had at his disposal developped a new vessel for the Falahuan fleet. He called this new ship a Nao (meaning simply "Ship"). This new design was remarkable on the ability of the Nao to maintain high sea perfectly and to endure dangerous waves that usual cogs or carrcks would not support. Its lateen rigging allowed it to almost fly upon water and to navigate close to the wind. And its newly designed keel permits it to strongly stay straight in high sea even in bad storms. This is aboard this brand new ship, recently baptised The Bouncing Frog (due to its ability to bounce from wave to wave) that our Hero, Faladrin, decided to run a maiden course. He was, of course accompanied by the ship builder himself, an elf engineer named Ehrtäin and of a capable crew of sailors and guardsmen. The objective was to sail further than any other vessel of Falahuas had ever been and to make some maneuvre to train the guards at operating the heavy ballista mounted on the bow. Faladrin was himself at the manoeuvre on the ballista and enjoyed being at the bow of the ship ! He was more than happy to set sail straight away on the sea and ready for adventure ! They were at sea for about 34 days and didn't expect the ship to be so strong and swift ! It was a pleasure to manoeuvre the Bouncing Frog ! Faladrin an Ehrtäin were discussing on the deck to organise the return trip when suddenly the watchman yelled : "At Starboard ! Land !" A land here was not expected at all ! Faladrin and Erhtäin decided to sail to this new unknown land. The taste of Adventure was too strong for the men... They had to see if there were something, or someone, on this new island. As it quickly appeared the land was a little island made of rocks but surprisingly covered on most of its surface by red roses bushes and even gigantic unknown red flowers... Faladrin named this island : The Isle of Roses. It appeared it was an inhabited island and The Bouncing Frog made a soft tacking to set sail towards the keep they've seen throne upon the rocks above the sea... To be Continued... Thanks for reading ! The next part of the Story will be developped with my other "Safe Haven" challenge entries. The ship is clearly inspired of the first real Portuguese Nao and Caravel designs. It has functional anchors, orientable sails and a functional rudder. C&Cs are welcome !
  21. Conrad left the boat. He now stads in the docks of Coghallow. As he looked around, he saw many flying ships, from the smallest, to the bigest. Many strange metal man carrying barrels and boxes in the nearby warehouse. - It's good to feel solid ground under our feet. - Cogfizz smiled next to him. - Come, I got thing that may you be interested, and I can give you as payment. Conrad started following the gnome, while he was looking around. Anywhere he looked, every building moved. Wheels and cogs turned, smoke came from every chimney, huge machines hummed gently. They walked away from the docks, and arrived to a square, with a fountain in the center. The residents stopped for a moment, everyone was looking at Conrad. - What's the matter with them Cogfizz? - Conrad lowered his voice, and asked his companion. - Most of the never saw someone, from the outer world. - replied Cogfizz. - Actually, you are the first outsider on the isle. But don't worry, we aren't gonna throw you out, like, you almost did to me... The residents of Coghallow accepts everyone, in the city, sooner or later. This way please. They continued the tour, as they went deeper in the city, Conrad had, more and more questions. And in the same time, he got more and more amazed, about the things he saw. - If there anything you want to know, just ask it. - Cogfizz broke the silence. I Conrad did't know, where start: - Erm... How did you keep this whole island in the air? Is it magic? - A bit of both magic and science. Our ancestors created a crystal, which can float, and increased its power, with energy, what we can create. They a conversation started between them. At first, Conrad asked, and Cogfizz replied to him, but later only Cogfizz was the only one, who talked. The Lore of Coghallow, and how science and magic can work together: Many centuries ago, the ancestors of theisland, were lived on the main continent. They were, engineers, scientist, scholars, tinkerer and philosophers. Many profession, but common in one thing, they weren't acknowledged. The mages and sorcerers didn't accepted their studies. They didn't wanted to fuse science and magic, they don't believed, they can achive much more, if they work together. The mages outcasted them, so did the society. They decided, to move awayfrom Historica. They went to the west, with ships. They found a island, full with natural resources, including heat sources. They start building their little society, from pebbles and sticks. Later, they were able to creat golems, to help speed up the process. The heat sources give them new ideas, how to make use of them, and that was the dawn of the Age of Steam, which, is still on. Their Ancestors achived, what they couldn't achive on the continent. Created a society, where magic and science can create a better life. And pictures about the building, and others:

  23. Near the forests borders in the Arfelan Plains, there is an old elven haven, currently occupied by Lord Agleon. It serves as the last homely house before entering the harsh voyage trough the dire sands of Kaliphlin. I finally could take pictures of this one, with the help of a friend, really appreciate any criticism and comments on it. =)
  24. It is said that the Arfelans not only dwell on the plains but also in unknown locations of Historica. These last havens, a secrecy, from wich very few enter and exit. It is in these places that the hopes of its people will endure or fall.
  25. Somewhere, west from the continent... - What is happening up here? - shouted Conrad, while he climbed up from below. He saw Fiko Cogfizz, sorrounded by his men, with drawn weapons. - Boss, he got a torch, he want's to set the ship on fire! At this point Conrad regret, to accepted this task. He remembered the day, when he first met with Cogfizz, and also remembered what promise he give to himself... It was the last days of summer. Conrad visited every harbour on the coasts of Deep Garden. There, he found Fiko Cogfizz, a gnome, talk and act strange. He got an unusual request. He talked about banishment, island and nothing more. He needed a ship, but every one refused to help him. Conrad felt pity for the gnome, he almost rejected his task, but Cogfizz mentioned a big payment, if he gets home. The sound of money, and a chance to expand his influence, to an unknown island changed Conrad's mind, and accepted the gnomes task. And, if there aren't anything, he simply throw the gnome overboard. It seems, he will fulfill his promise. - It's not a torch, it's a signal flare. - apologized the gnome. - This is a completly safe device, so others can now our location! - Can I ask who? - asked Conrad, while he stepped forward. - There is nothing here! No island, no ship, not even a chunk of rock, where we can leave you! Tell me a good reason Cogfizz, why souldn't I fed you with the sharks? The gnome stood there motionles. And without a word, he twisted the end of the flare. A green flame almost blinded Conrad and his men, the gnome kept the flare high as he could. For a brief moment, Conrad regained his sight. He saw the gnome, between dancing colorful spheres. He focused, and grabbed the flare, twistd out from the little hand and throw it overboard. - Why did you do that? - screamed next to him Cogfizz. - I just hope now, my colleagues saw the signal... This was the last drop, befor the gnome could finish his sentence, Conrad grab him, and lifted. The spheres still danced in front of his eyes. - Don't worry, you will follow your flare, down to the bottom, tell my what's going on! Enough secrecy. Fiko Cogfizz got completely paralyzed, Conrad considered his action, as a no, so hi started lifting him, for a throw. - Boss! - shouted the sentry. - Something is approaching. The gnome fell down on the deck. Conrad quicky looked around, the spheres almost faded. - Which side? - rubed his eyes, tried to remove the last spheres. - From above. Conrad looked up. He saw something coming down from a cloud. As the object came closer, Conrad recognized it, is boat, with a balloon. - Ready your self boys. - Ordered his men. Then looked down to Cogfizz. - We will deal you later. A small airboat landed next to the ship. A gnome pilot leaned over, and asked: - Who used the signal? - he looked around, and stopped at Cogfizz. - I suspect, it was you. I am Skyknight Silverbrass, do I know you? - Salutation knight Silverbrass, I am Fiko Cogfizz, - stepped forward. - I have returned from banishment. - I see, then let me be the first, who welcome you home, hop on, and we are off to go. - Hold on a second! - Conrad interrupted the talk. - No one flys anywhere, befor I get my payment. - Is that true Cogfizz? Cogfizz looked back at Conrad, then sighed. - Yes, I own them, for the help and patience. The leader of these great warriors will come with us, can i ask you, if I paid him, to return him, to his ship? - The council will not be pleased, for bringin an outsider to our city. But if you want to continue your banishment... Conrad and Cogfizz boarded the airboat, then, they take off slowly. The leader of the mercenaries looked down both in terrified and amazed, as his ship shrinked. Moments later, they were in the clouds. - First time flying? - laughed Silverbrass. - Dont worry, it is almost over, look! - pointed foward. From the couds, a floating island emerged. Conrad was speechless. - Welcome, on the Isel of Steam, in the city of Coghallow!
