The Beatles' Apple Studios rooftop 1969 concert - real-world modular building MOC

This is my modular take on the Beatles concert on January 30th, 1969 at No. 3 Savile Row, then known as the Apple Corps HQ and studio. (it's back to being a house and hasn't been a studio since the mid-70's) I used half of set 76108 - Sanctum Sanctorum Showdown for the front, with a back I designed myself as that set was close enough to look passable as the original London building. I also specifically made the building more grayscale, as if the Beatles are bringing light and color to the world. You can view the photo of the original building as it is now in spoiler tags below. (WARNING: it's an very large photo from Wikipedia!) It's not my photo, either: NOTE: The following LEGO modular building was constructed for my father and his modular building collection, as he bought the bricks and I built it for him according to my design. (per his request) The figures used are from set - 21306 Yellow Submarine, and I would have included Billy Preston too as he played electric keyboard that day and for several weeks before in recording sessions, but my dad sadly misplaced the figure I created and he can't find it. (also, if you can't find George, don't worry - he is behind the chimney pipes. You can't quite see him, but he is there.) The Yellow Submarine film logo printed part will be replaced with a Beatles logo from the 2021 Art set when it arrives. The eight studs out front are for the figures (not yet built) to stop and listen to the concert. I couldn't find a picture of the back, so it's improvised, same as the inside details are fictional too. Also, I didn't include stairs in the building, because I was trying to just flesh it out in basics and worry about furniture and stuff later. The first floor (or ground, as some might call it) has a fireplace, couch, grandfather clock, a dining table with four chairs, and another table lamp. On the second floor is a bedroom with bed, cabinet, writing desk, a upright piano and a floor lamp. (I was thinking about John Lennon and Yoko Ono's week-long "bed-in for peace in Vietnam" when I designed this level) However, as Yoko is reputed to have broken up the Beatles, this will suffice for her as a figure. The items up here on the third floor include a table w/ two chairs, a record player and a lamp. There are also four bookcases of vinyl records (one for each Beatle) on this floor, along with one empty one. "I'd like to say thank you on behalf of the group and ourselves, and I hope we've passed the audition." - John Lennon, 1969 (at the conclusion of the concert and as heard on the album "Let it Be") My dad designed the Ringo fig's drum-set, and I have three of this stove-top part on order for amplifiers. It's split in three parts and has nine hour overall runtime, but it's awesome. -
1920's Mad scientist lab, time machine, and vintage car - real world steampunk MOC's

This my version of the 2018 Marvel Comics 'infinity War" set 76108 (Sanctum Sanctorum Showdown) for a 1920's-flavored steampunk take on a mad scientist trying to open a time doorway into the beginning of the universe using a time machine modeled after set 76109. (Quantum Realm Explorers) When the mad Scientist Dr. Floyd Hyde opened his doorway to the pre-big-bang time zone for the first time in 1914, he sent his wife Penny (wearing a makeshift gray pressure suit) into the open portal and waited for her quick return. Unfortunately, something happened and the portal itself destabilized and shut down as a safety precaution on it's own. Eleven years pass for the Scientist, who becomes obsessed with reuniting with his lost love, delving every dime and ounce of energy into creating the rescue craft and fixing the portal machine onto said flying time-craft. He finishes it in the middle of the year 1925. An eternity passes for Penny, yet she does not age a day. She is taken in by the Brothers Three, whom she nicknames Alpha, Beta, and Omega. These strange alien beings are the sole inhabitants of the pre-big bang, being the sole survivors of a great war (they may have started it) and becoming almost omnipotent in the process of floating in the vast unending void of space. The Brothers Three ask only one thing of their kindness and helping keep her alive in the harsh environment: when rescue inevitably comes for Penny, let them come with her through the portal so they can help mankind achieve it's "destiny". Let her be their "herald", telling the governments of earth all about their amazing powers and how they can help serve man. So, will Dr. Hyde get his wife back? Will Penny allow the Brothers to follow her through the portal? And just what is this destiny these three are talking about? The choice is up to YOU! L to R: Dr. Floyd Hyde, his wife Penny Hyde (in the gray pressure suit), and The Brothers Three (alien beings from before the big bang) The front of the building, with the conservatory to the rear. I replaced the center round window from the Sanctum Sanctorum with more regular windows to give the building a more average city building appearance instead of a superhero's one. The front of the building also features the year it was built: 1901. The rear of the building has a ground-floor conservatory. The rearmost window on the bottom floor opens up 90 degrees to allow for figure placement in the conservatory. As a side note, the original Marvel model's exploding walls and drop-floors have been removed. The means from getting from one floor to another is a spiral staircase, and a small skylight has been added to the roof. The inside feature's the following: The lower floor has a fireplace with clock on mantle, table with chair, oven, and lamp on a side table. The middle floor features a strange mask on a safe, curio cabinet and a bed, along with an ancient weapons display. The upper floor features a desk with some sort of electricity storage machinery, several flasks, two bookcases, and microscope. The dark red thing in the greenish jar is a beating human heart. This model was inspired by @hachiroku's Indiana Jones Desert Chase car, but remade to have a different color scheme for use with my Adventurer's mad scientist character. The doors to the passenger compartment can also open, and there are taillights on the rear of the car. The vehicle can seat one figure in the drivers seat, and one figure (or a small cargo container) can be placed behind that. Here is Antman's vehicle from set 76109 (Quantum Realm Explorers) as a 1920's-period time machine, as seen above in steampunk form. I fixed the rotating side engines, as these maddening objects are now (mostly) locked in the position shown but for the slight sideways (left / right) motion that I for the life of me can't seem to fix. Oh well, it just gets them closer to the main engine pod in the center, so no harm, no foul. EDIT: 3/5/19: Added new real world pictures and deleted the rest of the ldd screenshots. This project is now done. -
Ever since I first saw 76108 at the beginning of the year, I've wanted to make the Sanctum and Peter's apartment two distinct buildings. I picked up my first copy of the set when it released, but didn't want to spend full price on another one when I already had the minifigures. Recently, there was a sale on Amazon and I finally was able to pick up a second one and combine them! It was a fun challenge to make this new set and ten transform it into the back half of the buildings. I was able to finish the build with only the two sets and about two dozen or so pieces I had at my disposal, and there was a lot of trial and error. I hope you all like how it turned out! Steampunk style models - giant robot, modular rocket and much more!

I've been on a steampunk kick recently... here are the fruits of my digital labors. The building's a WIP in the real world, while the rest will come later. From a WHAM product brochure (circa late 1909): "Here at WHAM (Wayne Highly Advanced Mechanisms) we always have our eyes on the horizon of the future. From our humble beginnings designing our first line of industrial hyper-reactors, to our more recent ideas of regular rockets to the moon, we here at WHAM are always striving to make our world - and beyond - a better place for us, our children, and so on out into the great unknown of the distant future. I should know, because as son of founder of WHAM, Dr. Lucius Wayne, I, Floyd Wayne am here for YOU. Don't believe me? You can see inside this brochure of our upcoming products for 1910 and decide for yourself. Remember: Don't buy a scam, buy a WHAM!" Here are the models I've worked on / revised: the giant robot, frog translator chair, laboratory building, automobile, and personal rocket. Because why should you not have a steam-powered mobile translator device for your highly intelligent pet Frog? Oh, and the inventor of this and much more is Lord Floyd Wayne, an eccentric Victorian inventor with whom failure is not an option. (In case anyone couldn't tell I was listening to Pink Floyd songs while creating these as that's where the inventor's first name came from. Oh, and as a fun note, the frog's chair actually began life as Davros' (creator of the Daleks) chair from Doctor Who. ) This rocket (named the Golden Bullet) is designed for atmospheric travel only, as it does not have a complete canopy nor air tanks for outer space travel. (actually, it was inspired by LEGO Universe' steampunk rocket, but with more recent parts and several recolors) The ship is powered three smaller booster motors and one larger main engine. (The rocket's original inspiration was taken from the first LEGO MMO from 2010, LEGO Universe.) The Golden Bullet comes apart in three sections, with the nose cone, cockpit and engines all being removable from each other. (NOTE: This print is missing from the dark tan 1 x 6 tiles on the driver's compartment.) This giant robot (named the Brass Man) was created by Lord Floyd Wayne as an tool for outer space exploration. Everything the robot sees is transmitted back to it's home base via a hyperspace sub-channel to be recorded and viewed for scientific study. The Brass Man is powered by a experimental hyper-matter reactor, which gives off steam as a safe and harmless by-product. (The robot was originally inspired by @hachiroku's Iron Giant, seen here) The monocle seen here is supposed to have this print. as a sort of targeting computer for weapons and for long-distance magnified viewing. The robot's main weapon is this laser pistol that disintegrates on contact. Only Lord Floyd (it's inventor) knows how it works, as he doesn't want any Earth governments to discover it's dark secrets. This device is only to be used for self-preservation and at that only as a last resort. I plan on using my version of the 2018 Marvel Comics 'infinity War" set 76108 (Sanctum Sanctorum Showdown) for a 1920's-flavored steampunk take on a mad scientist trying to open a time doorway into the beginning of the universe. What he doesn't know is that creatures from before our universe began were destroyed at that moment, so they will come through the doorway to the mid-1920's as a way of sheltering themselves from that fate. Unfortunately, being from that time frame, of course they want to end our Universe so they can live again in peace. As this takes place in my Adventure-verse, Johnny Thunder is tasked with shutting down the doorway before our universe sinks back to before the big bang... and Sam Sinister is trying to use the time / space doorway to achieve vast riches by robbing ancient cultures of their valuables using the Time Window, which draws the attention of the giant robot seen next to the building, leading to a cascading domino-like series of events that have not yet been written. The rear of the building has a ground-floor conservatory. The rearmost window on the bottom floor opens up 90 degrees to allow for figure placement in the conservatory. As a side note, the original Marvel model's exploding walls and drop-floors have been removed. The means from getting from one floor to another is a spiral staircase, and a small skylight has been added to the roof. The middle floor features a marble bust on a printed safe, and a bed. The dark red thing in the greenish jar is a beating human heart. The upper floor features a desk with some sort of electricity storage machinery, several flasks, two bookcases, time portal computer and microscope. This early-1900's automobile was designed with the tan off-road model in set 76003 (Battle of Smallville) in mind, with a bit of 7628 (Peril in Peru) thrown in for good measure. I was aiming for continuing my Steampunk theme, but ran into a mental roadblock with regards to this car, and about four other prototypes that didn't make he cut. (Sadly, they were accidentally saved over and are now gone) The rear of the model with the spare tire, brake lights, and dual exhaust pipes. ...And that's it for now! Okay, so I'm looking to integrate 76108 Battle for the Sanctum Sanctorum into my city. I'm sure a lot of people are doing the same, considering that my one was the last one on the shelf when I bought it at Big W and it's currently listed on shop.lego.com as 'Back Order'. Thing is, I really don't need another pizza parlour in my village. I've already got last year's Pizza Truck, and City Pizza does not need competition - especially since, unless Iron Man recently changed his name to 'Pepe' and went into the pizza industry, the parlour does not come with an owner. So, does anyone have any ideas as to how Pepe's Pizza can be turned into some other shop that's more useful? Preferably without sacrificing the exploding wall functionality?

Pizza Restaurant and Detective office with delivery van (76108 / 79104 MOD)

This building was inspired by half of set 76108 (Sanctum Sanctorum Showdown) from the 2018 Marvel Comics line while the van is from set 79104 (Shellraiser Street Chase) from the 2013 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles line. The building has a new rear half to complete the model, which has a ladders and trap doors to get from floor to floor. The two bigger second floor windows on the front side are missing this print for the upstairs Detective agency. The rear of the building has the same details as the front, but without the pizzeria storefront. The first level of the building is the pizza restaurant, with plenty of seating, meat spit, pizza oven, and cash register. Up the ladder and on the second is the Detective Agency's office, with a large desk and arm chair, with a smaller chair opposite the desk. The third floor has the Detective's apartment, with bed, desk, and gun / evidence safe. The roof of this level has a large wooden tank for storing water. This heavily modified vehicle originally came from a 2013 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set. I added doors and printed logo tiles. The roof of the van is removable, so you can get at the drivers seat to place a figure such as the CMF Series 12 "Pizza Delivery Guy" there. The rear of the van holds two pizza's in the warmer. (This building, the mad scientist lab I build out of the other half of 76108 and the van are placed together on the part list I have, and should be built next month or so.
