  1. My girlfriend gave me the 4260 Road Work Crew for the holidays (you can see her present in the back of the pictures). I thought it'd be fun to have a go at building a C-Model. I grew up in a rural community and combine harvesters were a common sight in my youth. Without further ado, this is the result: The model has the following functionality: The mower drives the conveyor The conveyor almost reaches the hopper The hopper can be disconnected Rear-wheel steering The model is more fragile than I would have liked but this is the best I could manage with the limited part selection. The colours, stickers and the anniversary brick work out quite nicely. Some more pictures can be found in the Instagram post.
  2. I haven't posted any model here for a long time so let me introduce you my latest alternative models built out of set 42060 - Roadwork Crew. The first of them is Formula 1. It has pretty low functionality (just "hand of god" steering) but at least I've made something original. :-) Most of formula is only 3 studs high so it was big challenge to squeeze steering in it. Another alternative model is Propeller plane. It whirls its propeller when you're moving it around. This model is literally full of "crazy" building techniques because I had to connect together all those liftarms going in different directions. I've built both models for competition in building alternative models out of set 42060. If you wanna see what other competitors built, check this link: http://www.kostky.org/forum/index.php?topic=50909.0
  3. Here in the UK we have a bank holiday coming up. In case you were looking for something to build, I have recently finished creating 4 C-models from sets 42026, 42046, 42011 & 42060. The first two were inspired by set 42010 (dirt racer), the second by the record breaker pull back and the pair of motorcycles by the double snap with hole which reminded me of the front forks of a motorcycle. As I've disassembled the models I've taken pictures so you can build them yourselves. Visual instructions are on bricksafe.
  4. I was recently given a 42060 road work crew set with the challenge to build something dancing related with it. The Swing-out is a staple of the Lindy hop dance style. It basically resembles a highly eccentric orbit like a comet, where the follow comes from arms length to close to the lead, is turned about and then moves away again (this can be repeated until either party has had enough). My question is what is the minimum parts to achieve an 'orbit'. So far my attempts require separate mechanisms for the in-and-out (using the tracks as a conveyor) and the round and round. The set has ample orange parts with which to build the dancers who keep one hand linked the entire move.
  5. This was really hard. The pieces were quite hard t use, just like the a-model functions ;) But I spent $40 on this set, so I thought I would do something with it. Video at the bottom also contains Instructions. Thanks BrickbyBrick ;)
  6. MAKE 42060 THE ROADWORK CREW GREAT AGAIN! As you may know, the 42060 Roadwork Crew kinda sucked. I decided to make some mods to make it better. This includes seats, paneling, easier control, better functionality, etc. Watch the video below to see the MODs and how to build them. Here are some additional pictures... Thanks and happy new year :)
