  1. The Old Fishing store is great set like it is but after a while some things started bothering me. I felt that this set should full coastal building and not just on shore, it needed water. Second big issue was that the shop dimensions did not feel correct when placed among other modulars. To me it looked like a big warehouse but insides revealed a shop that should take much less space. There isn't any clear way to connect it to other modulars anyway. I also did not like the loose parts inside the store. But the colors, design and overall feeling of 21310 is 10/10! Here's how my modded building looks like It is still a fishing store but I have added storage extension to it's side and a small boat repair area under the house. The entrance to this building from other modulars style buildings is on the right side of the image above. There is a rocky hill behind the house and stairs leading to it's top and that can be used to access another building that would be added to other side of this store. This building is build on top of some rocks but mostly over water. The dock is about 8 brick above the baseplate so I hope that even a bigger ship would look ok if placed in front of this. It is dark in there. Simple rowing boat docked. The water looks awesome as it disappears into darkness. The building has of course removable roofs. The store owner lives in here and the room is totally full of stuff. There are books, maps, weapons, tools and even a cannon! The story here is that the store owner is an old sea captain and he has laid out all his maps of unfound treasures on the table and he is planning to go and look for them. From the first floor there is already visible the warehouse area that at the moment has mostly empty boxes and on the back wall the ramp that could be used to get onboard a docked ship. The upper floor can be removed. Top view of the first floor. It is at least as full of stuff as was the original. Stairs to below the building are on the right side. The right side has freezer for the fish, fishing rods, propellers and other stuff. One full wall can also be removed to make it easier to see and access the first floor. The second floor of the tower is extra compared to the original, there are different flags stored in there. The building is suprisingly sturdy even without one wall and it is not necessary to remove the wall when the whole first floor is removed to reveal areas below the building. Top view of the basement. Top part has on the right the cliffs that could be used to access yet another building. I have plans for a lighthouse. The water level on top part is still empty, I might add a shipwreck in there someday. Middle right side has a small dock and some tools for repairing a boat. Left bottom part underneath the tower has treasure chest. I really enjoyed building this. I had good plans before I started the build and I desided to make the first few iterations of the build as quickly and simple as possible. It was much easier and faster to build this than my previous mod of the detective's office. Next one will be the ninjago docks or the city. Have a look at the other mod I've done Detective's Office mod
  2. Hi there. I'm kind of new here, so if my post here is wrong somehow, let me know. I'd like to share a MOC with you, an alt build of 21310 Old Fishing Store. I love the Old Fishing Store, but I also love the Creator 3-in-1 sets because I like taking them apart and building something new later (I don't tend to leave sets up on display for more than a couple of weeks - I just don't have the space). So I made a smaller little lodge or store (there's a bedroom in the loft). The roof is partially flat and partially angles down, and you can lift the roof on the hinges to see into the 2nd floor. There's a tower with the telescope (and a storage area in the tower) and a swing hanging below it. I've got a pond (or at least part of one) with fish, with the boy trying to catch one, and the cat and bird also hoping for some fish. The captain is at a campfire with a lady friend toasting marshmallows. (boy it was hard making a fire with so few red, orange and yellow pieces... I did cheat and use one flame piece from another set). If you want to see more photos, or download the LXF file, you can do so here: https://bricksafe.com/pages/CathyVT/cathysfishinglodge . The step by step instructions that LDD creates when you click "building guide mode" are terrible (doing things in an impossible order, like framing the windows all around, then putting in the window) but I'm working on a solution to that... Hope you like it!
  3. (NOTE to the mods: This model could go in the adventure forum, but since it's origin is a CITY-like set, I placed it here in the town forum. I hope that's okay!) Heading out for parts unknown, searching for lost treasure, discovering ancient civilizations, fighting the mysterious forces of evil and finding helpful allies, all in far-way lands not on any map! Check your compass, secure your gear and plot your course: It's all in a days work for the ADVENTURERS! (and yes, that was supposed to sound like a early TV / radio drama intro. ) I took the "Old Fishing Store" Ideas set number 21310 and turned back the clock on it from a rundown fishing shop in the modern era to a modular 1920's supply depot for Johnny Thunder and his friends, also known as the Adventurers. I added a set 7596-style freight Crane that's a part of "Trash Compacter Escape" (a Toy Story 3 set from 2010). I revised the color scheme of the mainly yellow building instead of the original sand green, and removed a ton of the mixed bunch of colors that were used a "patch jobs" on the dock and building proper. I removed the roof and redid it completely to be brick-built with slopes instead of plates and tiles at an certain angle. I also stripped the many windows styles off and replaced them with a single type. I added a warehouse section to the lower floor by sending one of the walls about 16 studs back, allowing for storage space for various equipment not yet designed. The back wall of the building shows off the new wall art placed on the roof section of the building: a giant propeller from a ship of some kind. I also am going to use the "Great" and "West" printed parts for the sign out on the front of the building where the "Anton's bait shop" 4 x 2 tile originally was. The back wall still opens in two sections, but the inside is a rough estimate. Some parts I already have from my previous depot model from almost 1 1/2 years ago, such as the safe, radio and various maps. Also, the two freight loading doors actually open and shut quite nicely. The model comes apart into four sections, with the main roof, tower, tower roof, and main building + dock all separating from each other. The crane was totally copied from my previous depot model, which itself was duplicated and color-changed from the dark green / white one in the Toys Story 3 set I mentioned earlier. That's all I've got so far with the building (which is coming soon in real bricks)... any thoughts or ideas for this model? As usual, Comments, Questions, & Complaints are always welcome. Stay tuned for real life pictures that might be coming in October. If you want the LDD file, it is here.
