    10305 mod - Wolfpack Castle

I kinda feel that castle is too fancy for the Wolfpack...
  2. Nope, mine haven't even been sent yet. Really frustrating to me that LEGO can't even handle shipping in stock goods in a timely fashion. I can live with bricks & pieces usually taking 6 weeks to ship, as that's a special fan service they aren't really making a lot of money on - but selling sets is their core business. They should employ more workers for packaging.

    40567 Forest Hideout (GWP)

I just built this set, it's a fun build. Full of nostalgia, and it's great to see both new Forestman torsos and - especially - new versions of the classic shield. Absolutely loved it.

    40567 Forest Hideout (GWP)

It seems to be sold out in Europe now. I sure hope they still have one for my order, which they have yet to process...
  5. Oh that's a shame. Perhaps you can still cancel and re-order? It was heavily rumored to be released today, so I took my chances and believed the rumor.
  6. Waiting paid off for me, as I managed to get both the Castle, the Forest Hideout GWP and the Pirate pack add-on.
  7. A very nice improvement on what I see as one of the best sets from the KKII theme.
  8. Thanks for that image, I hadn't even realized that there were two different Lion Knight torsos in the set.
  9. Well how often have we gotten only a King? I don't recall anyone making much of a fuss over that, any of the times it happened. Would it have been nice to have a King, a Prince, a Princess, a jester, more civilians, more animals, etc...? Yes, for sure. Do we *need* them? Not really. As previously mentioned, there are plenty of valid reasons why a King is not necessarily present in the set - also when looking through historical lenses.
  10. Sure, people have a right to their opinion. Having opinions on the design, coloring, size, price, amount of peasant minifigures, number of horses, chosen heraldy and stuff like that is all quite valid. Having an opinion on whether a children's construction toy is historically accurate enough when portraying women in the military, however, is quite silly.
  11. Really? Oh, that's great. I did not see one in any of the pictures.
  12. As you say yourself, there can be many reasons why a king is not present in the set. Is he away? Is he dead? Has the queen never married? Either way, I'd assume most of us can create a nice and fine king from existing minifigure parts. I, too, am puzzled about the barebone wizard torso. For a set of this size, magnitude and price, they could have included a printed torso. Personally however, I already have several good wizard torsos I can use (a few of them even blue) - so I'm not overly bothered. The things that bothers me the most (and these are minor) are: 1. No Forestmen shield included. I have the GWP, but it seemed like such a no-brainer to include at least one here as well (I actually assumed they were created for this set, and just re-purposed for the GWP). 2. The sheep should have been a goat. Yes, this would have been the perfect time to do a new goat mold.
  13. I don't get the complaints about the amount of females in the set. This is a toy for children, not an accurate historical representation of the dark ages. If that's what you're looking for, you shouldn't be looking for LEGO sets to begin with. That said, I'll probably be turning most of the female soldiers into males myself - but that's not much of a hassle anyway, it's literally just a head swap. And I'd expect that most people buying this set have spare male heads anyway.

    40567 Forest Hideout (GWP)

If you could just buy all the GWPs, there wouldn't be anything special about them anymore. Part of the allure that makes people spend x amount of money to get GWP y which is set at a much lower price point is the exclusivity of it all. That said, some physical LEGO shops have actually been seen selling leftover GWPs.
  15. This is wonderful. You really managed to capture the magic of the original.
  16. I had reddish brown bricks break the very first time I (very gently, as always) disassembled the MMV. It was definately not a great time period for reddish brown... That said, it's a wonderful set - one of my very favorites. In fact, I'm going to rebuild it in anticipation of the upcoming castle. MVR is good as well, but not quite as great as MMV. Get MMV if you can. But not MVR at the same value, it should be a bit cheaper.

    Rank the castle themes/factions

You may find this old poll of mine interesting as well,as it's a similar topic:
  18. Well goes without saying that this is, of course, only an issue if you plan on displaying them side by side. I want to do that eventually, but will at first be displaying the blacksmith in a cabinet by itself. And while I do that, it naturally won't be an issue at all. But part of what I like about LEGO is creating a larger display, instead of only displaying singular pieces (which I also do like). I have setups for both types of display. I think that is part of the reason the modular buildings are so popular; they invite you to create a larger, unified display in the same scale.
  19. The Blacksmith is a one-man local blacksmith operating out of his own house. Apart from York, which town in your article had walls lower than an ordinary house...? To each his own, of course - but the blacksmith set doesn't scale well with the castle no matter how you spin it, in my opinion. So either the castle, MMV and MVR needs to be increased in size - or the blacksmit needs to be downsized. The latter seems easier and more practical. But again, that's just my opinion - and to each his own. :)
  20. Here I was thinking that I should mod MMV to fit with the Blacksmith - whereas from the looks of it, it may be a better overall fit to change the Blacksmith to the scale of MMV instead...

    40567 Forest Hideout (GWP)

Excellent news! I wouldn't mind another.
  22. Fantastic set, truly stunning. Can't wait to get it. There's always small things to nitpick, but I'm overall very, very happy with the set. Fingers crossed that everything is printed.
