Did I read that correctly...? BORDERS is selling the minifigs in the US?? -
Right... looked it up on brickset since. But we have a confirmed re-release of Toy Shop??

HOLIDAY TRAIN???????????????? When did this information come out???
-
Agree with the thoughts of many-- Already have the LEGO truck, and prefer it to the TRU version. Even though the little store is kinda cool, it's certainly not enough for me to justify buying a second identical truck. A bit of advice to those who haven't yet made a decision on either-- this truck is HUGE, certainly the biggest LEGO tractor trailer I've ever seen. If you have tight corners in your layout, don't expect this behemoth to make it through. The rig itself is almost as long as the Octan truck and trailer. Also, quick question for those of you more in the know than myself... I thought I'd read somewhere that the TLG was going to do a widespread retail re-release of Winter Toy Shop for this year's 4th quarter. Any truth in that?? Or just wishful thinking?

D2C Designers requesting feedback for 2012 models
Mr. Elijah Timms replied to CopMike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
1. Never bought one, I must admit 2. Usually I collect the entire theme, unless something just really catches my eye 3. Not really my thing, actually 4. Either a true Pirate-era island town, A City Supermarket, or a huge SW Mos Eisley Cantina or Ewok village 5. Many ideas, mostly for City: HOLIDAY CITY SUBTHEME a. First and foremost, the definitive Santa set complete with a dedicated reindeer mold (something that can accomodate a 1x1 round trans red for Rudolph's nose of course). Santa, the full team of deer, the sled, and whole slew of presents in the back. What kid-- no, what person-- wouldn't pay up for this???? b. The Christmas Tree lot-- lots of trees, lots of 'lights' on strings, perhaps a family loading their tree onto the roof with the generous salesman's help. c. Santa in the Park-- a fair size 'outdoor' set complete with the community Christmas tree and a Santa's workshop structure where the kids are standing in line to talk to Santa. Go tell him you want that BB gun! d. Holiday home-- a reasonable minifig-sized house all decked out in its holiday best. Kids are outside making a snowman, mom is inside baking her cookies, and of course we would have to throw in Dad hanging the lights on a ladder. e. We've seen the carolers, but I'm sure we could all use a few more in a small set a la City Minifigs... They could also do holiday shoppers, etc. f. How about the sledding hill-- lots of kids on old school wooden sleds, with maybe a skier or Gravity-Games era snowboarder thrown in for good measure. g. Finally, the home run in the entire line would have to be The North Pole!!! Santa's home, complete with the workshop, the stalls for the reindeer, and good ol' Ms. Claus tidying up the place. And of course, it would have to include (Castle fans may now begin drooling) ELVES! Perhaps just a face mold, but maybe something more for the ears. And this set could surely invite additional add-ons such as Santa's runway, elves at work, etc. etc. h. Perhaps even an old snowy stone church and/or nativity set?? MOUNTAIN LAKE CITY SUBTHEME a. A forest clearing where a pack of scouts are setting up camp for the night (and perhaps a bear wanders in to eat their frankfurters). b. A fishing boat where perhaps father and son are looking for the big catch, complete with the fish or even an old tire for the boy to reel in. c. A beautiful lakeside cabin complete with a small dock on the water, just the right size for my gold seaplane to be tied down to. Naturally, it would need a few raccoons breaking into the garbage around back. d. A lumberjack crew, complete with their lumber truck and a few large trees to cut down. Lots of accessories and gear for the 'jacks. e. To top it all off, the main set for the series would be a forest ranger station with a rugged 4x4 parked in the driveway and a nice tower to inspect the surrounding forest. Bears, snakes, beavers, or perhaps even an otter or skunk would be nearby in the woods. On top of those: a. Continue the Pirates Theme!!!!!!!!!! More Ships!! An Island Town!! BLUECOATS!! b. FORESTMEN!!!!!! We NEEEEED them back, and do their fortress RIGHT this time! c. STAR WARS: Proper Mos Eisley Cantina, The Ewok Village, a Tusken Raider set with a Bantha, and as Klaus-Dieter said, a Hoth Base interior set (Med-Lab, Bacta tank, etc). d. Continue the minifigs, with a more aggressive marketing and distribution plan. -

Interesting... after picking up a total of 15, I already have 3 zombies. That's enough for me, personally... Still need caveman, tribal hunter, skater, ninja and wrassler. -

REVIEW: 8683 LEGO Minifigures Series 1

I grabbed 8 at my local TRU yesterday. Interestingly enough, they had them in the back of the store with the rest of the Lego. I was able to pull out a US-barcode cheat-cheat and go through them. If I had more time, I probably would've been able to 'shop' for exactly which ones I wanted. Unfortunately, I was in a bit of a rush, and ended up with: Forestman (LOVE IT), Nurse, Cowboy, Zombie, Zombie, Cheerleader, Diver, and Robot. Should also point out that the store had two boxes there-- I'm going to stop back today and see how hard it was hit, but as far as I could tell I either got there just as they put it out or it's just not getting that much attention. Either way, I'm hoping to grab some others today. Also, I could be wrong, but from what I could tell the same figs were NOT scattered throughout the box, but rather sitting together. For example, if I grabbed the last two on the very right side of the box, they were BOTH the same bar code. IE grabbing just six all together will likely give you multiples of only 2 or 3 different figs. I'd definitely recommend picking randomly all across the box if it's a new one. And as many of you said, it's definitely FUN-- felt like a kid opening them up! Even my wife was into it. -
This is another case where you're buying the set more for the accessories than for the fig alone. BUT I will say I'm particularly interested in the hat-- that black cap can be swapped out with the blue one worn by the driver of the orange tow truck-- then he essentially looks alot more like the crew of the helicopter transport set. That always bugged me that he had the same torso but just didn't feel like he fit in with the rest.

Some of you guys get so caught up in the China thing-- you knew ahead of time that's where they were coming from, right? If you're not impressed with the quality just leave them on the shelves for the rest of us! Sheesh! -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures General Discussion
Mr. Elijah Timms replied to Nabii's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Just checked my TRU-- no new minifigs as of Wed. afternoon. I will say that the guy on Brickset who's been breaking the news says that his store also had the Lego Truck, the Octan Truck, the Passenger Plane and the Airport. My nearest store has the two trucks (picked up the Lego Truck yesterday myself), but not the airport sets. Perhaps there's a connotation there?? If your store's got the airport, it might also have the fig boxes?? Not sure-- I work close by and plan on swinging through regularly for the next week or so -
Well, couldn't you just lose the Santa head, and you've got yourself that Hot Tub Stormtrooper you've always wanted??? I feel a bit cheated-- this is my first real year in City, so this is the first Advent calendar I'll get my hands on. BUT I do like the idea of getting not only a family, but some nice furnishings for the Family House, so this works for me

Excellent, simply excellent. This whole series, this whole idea, is just oozing with FUN. I can't see this not going well into 2011 with as many as six or more waves. How could it not?? -

My pirates, led by the notorious Bartholomew J. Brickbeard, are always at war with the British detachment, led by the dastardly Admiral Wembley and overseen by Governor Broadside himself. Each side has both allied and doublecrossed Chief Kahuka's natives, and lest we forget the second faction of pirates led by the once-infamous Roger the Red. Roger, of course, enjoys relative freedom among the islands since losing his war and ship to the Governor, but reserves his most seething hatred for Brickbeard himself. In fact, there's even rumors on the sea that one of Brickbeard's crew is actually one of Roger's men, and schemes for the day that Roger the Red will claim the Bounty for his own...

REVIEW: 8683 Minifig series 1 -, minifig #11 The Nurse
Mr. Elijah Timms replied to Holodoc's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Great fig-- love the new hair. Makes the older ponytail look so juvenile and girlish. Coming from someone who owns no hospital-related sets, I'd love to see them really do the sub-theme right in the next few years. Hard not to think there's a new ambulance coming soon. Thanks for the review! -
Looks good-- I always wanted a true Hoth Luke, and the collection would never be complete without the Wampa. But what pray tell am I supposed to do with FOUR SNOWSPEEDERS???? I've got a whole fleet here!
-
Great perspective... quite an interesting way of gathering up your stuff without breaking the bank. Where'd you get all those white sleek slopey sides of the A-Wings?? The only sets I remember getting them in were the A-Wings and the Y-Wing? I'm assuming they were among the pieces you had to get at BL?
-
Poses a very curious question-- in your rough estimation, how much would it cost to build, say, an A-Wing by ordering the separate parts directly from BrickLink? (I must admit, I've never gone through them before.) Begins to pose the obvious question-- when we buy a set, how much of our money is going into the printing and production of the instruction books and even the box. Take all of the bags, and the price of processing, etc... Do you think you'd actually save money buying the parts as you did, or does it even out to about the same?
-
GREAT photography-- love the closeup of the three zombies reaching for the camera! Question about the robot that you seem ideally suited to answer-- I've been a little put off by the two different arms look of the robot. Is it conceivable that you could get a second robot, take off the second's claw-holding right arm, and use it as the left arm of the first? i.e. Is the design of the claw-holding arm created in such a way that you could make yourself a robot with two claw-holding arms??
-
Mirandir... Perhaps everyone here is well aware of your source. I'm kinda new to City and am not-- Obviously you're not going to sell out whomever confided in you, but is this speculation on the part of your source or is this 100% confirmed?? I wasn't into City when they did the anniversary set, so I'm very interested in the idea of a great Town Square.
-
I've owned this set since its release and just recently sat down to put it back together during a snow storm over the winter. What followed would plague me for months, and to this day I still get a little bit annoyed just thinking about it: I'm missing one of the two small white 1x1 cones on the roof. And it drives me absolutely CRAZY.

Review - 8096 Emperor Palpatine's Shuttle
Mr. Elijah Timms replied to OneSnowTrooper's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Actually, the review is very impressive. I'm relatively impressed with the build, and how they did push for playability on the interior. The sides of that cockpit are genius also. However, I can't lie to myself. If I bought this it'd be for one thing and one thing only, the Medical Droid. Why not wait for a possible Bacta Tank Hoth playset where we'll get the same thing?
