8404 Bus Station €99.99 Hundred Euros for the Public Transport??? That's $130, for a few trucks and a tram that didn't meet expectations?? C'mon, TLG... you're dangerously flirting with unreasonable.
-
Whoa... that thing is monstrous! I bet you could practically park the old imperial shuttle just in its cargo hold! And, I could be wrong, but isn't that the same windshield as the City Corner bus-- and is that entire cockpit build studs upside down??

Could be wrong, but didn't we have it confirmed that TLG is producing at least 4 series, with the color of bags mimicking the colors of the anniversary minifig sets? First edition was yellow, second was blue, third I believe red, and fourth black. Si, verdad? I'm guessing they'll do at least 3 or 4 and then make a decision about how well they sold, how marketable the concept is, and how much further the series is capable of going. I'd also bet money that series 2 and 3 will run much more smoothly than this one has. -
Wow-- How could I forget 4-LOM and Zuckuss?? But don't panic-- I'm sure they'll be available with a 5th version of Slave 1 in 2012, haha (end sarcasm)

Crazy that it's at S@H... why isn't it in retail venues like TRU or Target? Or does this mean I should just be patient and it'll show up?? -
Insanely detailed inside there-- I'm at a loss for words at your attention to all those minute touches-- LOVE the little stove area and overhead vent! And the bookcase is fantastic! Clearly you work in Lego the way other artists work in oils and pastels. Keep up the great work!

Agreed-- so many people have been dumping on the highway patrol cop, but personally I want to get a few! I definitely plan on swapping these guys out with the current motorcycle cops on the force, so to speak. Wish the police motorcycle was still being produced, in fact-- I'd probably get 2 or 3 more just for this upcoming fig. In fact, the more I look at series 2, there are less figs that I want multiples of in comparison to Series 1. Obviously the Spartan is a no-brainer as far as army-builder is concerned, but otherwise the cop is one of the few I covet in that aspect. Maybe I'd grab a few extra surfers just for the bare chest torso, or an extra adventurer to swap that head onto one of my Imperial Navy officers, but otherwise I'll be satisfied with one of each. -
four or five years ago this could have been a thread with tons of entries. TLG has done a good job of filling in the blanks with missing minifigs. As it stands, I think there's really only two large groups of characters that have yet to be addressed, and of course we're talking about Cantina patrons and Jabba minions. Personally, I'd love to put together my own cantina band, or get a nice-looking Max Rebo or Oola in minifig format.

Welcome Cusm! Green Grocer, man-- I have the bunker, and probably wish I went with the City building at this point. Have a great time here at EB

Hello Odyssey, and welcome to Eurobricks! I'm sure we'll see more of each other in the City forums! Feel free to say hallo ;)

I know what you mean about rotating from one theme to another. I've been thinking about it lately, and trying to decide if I am officially no longer a SW guy. Been into Pirates and have really become a City regular. Either way, welcome and don't be a stranger. Look forward to seeing your creations :)

Okay, I have a question for all of the Sveltes, Klaus-Dieters, Lightning Tigers and other experts here in the City forum: I've recently put some money aside and have been letting it build in anticipation of some of the newer city sets. SO, with that being said, I'm just about ready to pull the trigger on the new Airport. In fact, I was contemplating making my move as early as tomorrow... and then I got an idea. I've decided to hold off for a week or two, with the intent of keeping a sharp lookout for a potential Toys R US BOGO 50% sale. Sure, it may not happen, but if it does-- I'll be able to grab a second major $100 US set for HALF PRICE. And that's where I could use your collective advice: Garage or Construction Site?? I'm certainly leaning towards the Construction Site, but would like to hear some advice from the veterans! Thanks!

Nice review-- the Train series is like the Dark Side of the Force to me... I find myself continually tempted and it seems like just a matter of time before I succumb. Yeah, I said it-- succumb. If I go through with it this year, I'm guessing I'd go with the passenger train, train station and this set-- all for about $200. Not bad.

Wow... LEGO themselves are out of Series 1. Doesn't mean that TRU doesn't have more inventory that has yet to be distributed, but still, it apparently means the 'window' for these guys, at least in the U.S., was open for little more than a month. I have a full set, and a few extras, and consider myself satisfied. However, all this sudden fuss about the supply being officially exhausted makes me want to stop by Borders tonight and grab a few more. Something I might consider asking some of you... what's more important, getting one full set or getting one full box??? Personally, I'd rather pick through the box and pay for 16 rather than just buying 60 to ensure I got them all. But I'm assuming many of you are interested in stocking up on the additional new parts; or are you looking to resell them? Just curious... -

I'm worried that they're going to jack the price again for Series 2. I mean, as great as they are, I'm not interested in paying $4 a figure without even a single brick or something to go along with it. I hope TRU keeps their price at $2.49 US... Hopefully the second series will run much smoother and error-free. It's like when Apple rolls out a new product-- the second release of the iPhone was much more stable and user friendly than the first. We can all hope Lego learns from what went wrong with the first batch. -
BEWARE: Collectable Minifigures US Online Purchases
Mr. Elijah Timms replied to legitimatealex's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Agreed about positive. I managed to get 11 out of the 16 from TRU, then my area hit a serious dry spell. I'd been doing the same as Lego_Hero, calling the two TRU's in my area rather than driving out every single day. Nothing, nothing, nothing... then on Monday I read here at Eurobricks that some people are reporting that BORDERS has them. Drove out to the nearby Borders and BAM! There they were... I was able to complete the collection and yesterday went back to grab myself an extra cheerleader, caveman (going to put that hair on one of my Pirate crew), and cowboy (love the pistols for my police force). I have no desire for an entire box, but already have 2 forestmen, and might be tempted to get a third, or maybe another cowboy for the guns, but otherwise I've gotten what I wanted. Sucks about 5 crash test dummies-- my biggest fear before the series broke was that I'd get stuck with a whole batch of them. I did get a second one I didn't really want, but that was before I really got good at barcode identification. Don't get down, boys... try Borders if you're willing to pay $3 a figure (and you can use coupons on them as well if you belong to Borders Rewards, apparently). Also, I'd like to say I'm a definite supporter of the barcode method-- I've actually become quite good at identifying the codes without the cheat sheet-- just try to memorize the last few bars of whatever figure you need, not as hard as you'd think. Then no one can give you weird looks or tell you you can't 'cheat' with a paper guide. -

UPDATE: My own Series 1 is complete. Stopped at Borders after work today, and was able to peruse their two boxes to find the 5 I was missing. REPEAT-- Confirmed sighting and purchase of Minifigs at U.S. BORDERS. The retail bookstore, not the geographic boundary. Some thoughts on Borders: They were up on the front desk right by the register. Nobody cared that I went through them looking for the barcodes (I didn't have a checklist on me, and memorized the codes of the remaining 5 I needed), nobody told me anything about what I could or couldn't do, nobody told me how many or few I could buy, nobody really knew what they even were actually, or what the big fuss was all about... and at first no one even knew how much they were. For the record, they were $2.99 each. An entire 50% markup per unit in one month... wow. BUT I got what I was looking for, and probably more than made up for that extra money in what I'll save on gas alone trying to track down the rest. AND, for the record, I LOVE the caveman. And the skater boy is cooler than I thought he'd be. Very satisfied shopper right here... -

Agreed. I've seen this at TRU the last few times I'd checked in on the Great Collectible MF Hunt, and was very tempted to grab this instead of going home empty-handed. In the end I've convinced myself that it'll show up in dept. stores at a cheaper price later this summer... right? -

Price isn't really the issue. The main concern here in the States is availability. After stumbling on an entire box the first day, I've barely seen more than a few since then. Also, I think Toys R Us wouldn't be raising any prices if anyone else had them-- that's what puts them in the position to charge whatever they'd like. -
What surprises me isn't just how many new City sets TLG has released this year, but also how many BIG new City sets TLG has released this year. It seems like they just keep firing salvo after salvo at us. Not that I'm complaining... but you'd almost expect more low-end sets at this pace. After all the big ticket stuff this year you'd think they'd have kept the Public Transport under $100. Guess not. And yet, here in the US we're still waiting for the copter and limousine.... sigh...

LEGO Collectible Minfigures Series 1 Poll
Mr. Elijah Timms replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Absolutely I was all about the Forestman ever since the story broke about the minifigs. Now that I've gathered two of them, however, my focus is clearly on the TRIBAL HUNTER. I've never had a Wild West set and I'm all about grabbing a few of these guys, including one who'll get a bit of a wardrobe change to serve under Cap'n Brickbeard, yarrr! Also a big fan of the Caveman, the Cheerleader, and oddly enough, the Cowboy. He looks so much better in person than on screen, plus he and his cohorts will do a fine job of arming my police force. -

Love the Elvis idea, Zorro, FIsherman, the Eskimo and many more. Also expect to see the Samurai return before the series is finished.
