Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

When I first saw the leak, I really did not like the diner. I believed it was real though. Then the official photo came out. Changed to, "eh it's okay I guess". Got the set because "gotta catch em all'. Opinion went to "It was fun to build but I still really dislike this style".

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

I look forward to people getting their hopes of for ideas of grandeur, then the set gets leaked, everyone is horribly disappointed by it because their hype went too high, and then they start to argue that it is a fake, then it gets confirmed for real, then people say "Well it's not that bad".... you know, what happens every year.

    will you by 60197-8

I got it mostly because I wanted to play with the new electronics.
  6. how is this set compared to the original volvo loader 42030?
  7. I just got this set, and am going to build it soon. Are there any good changes that should be made during the construction of it? Kind of like how on the new mobile crane set you should switch the position of a gear that helps raise the boom

    Suggestions on low budget?

I dont think you can do it for under 50 unless you build microscale. Try building something in stud.io and see what you come up with I found this one someone built https://youtu.be/0wxfbysFkpQ

MOC - 60051 Club Car and Extended Car

This reminds me, I need to get around to building one of these. Of course i could build for the new passenger train instead...
  10. I feel it looks suspicious when a new user comes along and the first thing they do is post a link to a scam site.

[MOC] Santa Fe EMD F7A Warbonnet #315

As always, love your work. It looks beautiful!
  12. as a "First PF technic experience" would it be better to get this, or the 42070 from last year?

Lego Highlander a.k.a. There can be only one

1789 Unitron Star Hawk II. It's kind of an ugly set, with nothing really special about it, aside the fact that it was my first set ever and I've held on to it across dozens of moves and across the ocean twice. https://imgur.com/a/w1etJ Pictures of my original set. it's not in the best shape, but I was 4 when I got it.

    Storage and Sorting LEGO

I'm getting ready to have to pack up a bunch of lego for long term storage; mostly train and modular buildings. Is it better to try to keep the individual sections solid, or break them up into large chunks? What is the best size container to store these in?

    Lego 75955 Hogwarts Express

Nope. You could use some of the parts in this set, but for something like his you will need to go on bricklink
  17. I have a 10 lb bucket of lego that my sister's cat used as a litter box once. I tried to clean it multiple times but the parts just feel weird. I can't bring myself to use any of it, but I also can't bring myself to get rid of it

    [WIP][MOD] 10194 - 4 - 6 - 4 - Dark Red color

Dark red looks great! I too love recoloring this particular set. I have it in Original, Blue, Red, Black/Red, and Christmas themed green/white/red.
  19. I take fairly good care of all my lego, but this thread does remind me of a time when i was young and dumb, and had two technic motors... I connected them directly to each other using an axle connector, and turned them both on; the axle on one of them snapped off after some flopping around. i felt remorse for breaking my motor. That was 21 years ago. I still have the broken motor around today, to remind myself to not do stupid crap

    2018 Lego Trains

I actually have one of those that i'm messing around with, but can't seem to get it to look right. (you can see a white one in one of my earlier pictures). The cylinder makes it stick out too far and it comes off too easily. I've also played around some with 1x2 bricks with the double holes in them but come across the same problem.

    2018 Lego Trains

The lights seem to be mostly forward facing. I still want to find a way to hide the led pieces better and add the round tiles

    2018 Lego Trains

I've been working on adding lights to the cargo train, and so far have come up with this. The nose shape remains the same, but I feel I can do better http://i.imgur.com/ZmdcNPx.jpg
  23. Be it an official lego designer, or the MOCist, it's crazy what they are able to come up with. I haven't had much interest in technic, really only having a few of the sets that came out in the mid 90s. The biggest technic set i had was the 8432 concept car, or the 8440 formula flash. Well, over the weekend I got the 42083 Bugatti Chiron and all i can say is WOW. There were so many gears, so many connections that I had no idea what they were going to eventually connect to, so many substructures that looked like a mass of random parts until much later... I can't even imagine what the process to create something like that would have been like. There were so many parts I had never seen inside a regular system set before. I was also impressed by how the large mass of multi colored beams and connectors turned into such a sleek color scheme in the end thanks to all the giant panels. Ultimately I love the final product, and the designer did a pretty amazing job. And to think, the bugatti is just a car. There are all sorts of cranes, heavy machinery, aircraft, etc. that also all use complicated gearing and even get motors involved... I must say the people who create these things must be really smart and creative people.
