  1. Start with 8110, yea the steering is awkward for this set but out of the big picture its based off a real truck, has a 4-cylinder engine like the real thing does, licensed set, has Power Functions, Pneumatics, effectively a big set once built and tons of attachment possibilities.

    42043 Mercedes-Benz Arocs 3245

8110 Unimog U400 is effectively a big 4x4 Technic set, I think its one of the biggest in terms of size for Technic truck, 42043 Arocs 3245 is in league with piston engine-equipped sets like 8258 and 9397 (correct me if I'm wrong), the Volvo set is just too expensive because of the PF parts used on it and is limited in terms of Technic parts, a monster set like the upcoming Arocs is a big welcome for any AFOLs and I'm looking forward to getting one :)

Pards I think and I probably will agree with the above mentioned comment that the problem is with LBG cross axle, they used the same approach with 9397 but that set has no less than 1308 parts once built and is pretty much light weight so its not a problem on that set compared with this big guy at 2793 parts plus the battery box alone also adds to the load is probably whats causing the front suspension to bend/ push at both sides, it would have been a smart idea if TLG used the same shock absorber design but placed extra stiff springs like what they did with 8110 so as to compensate for the mass this set is already bearing.

I've seen this replica I think a week or 2 before they posted the video from the toy fair, this guy probably has inside sources to pull off such replica off hand, for me he just spoils things out and though he gives the "best" look for an upcoming model its just not it. Oh well its over he pulled it off anyway and he even has a replica of the 42042, It's still 5 months from now before we all get our hands on it, for picture reference of the real factory stock Mercedes-Benz Arocs I suggest taking some from www.media.daimler.com

I have always favored larger diameter tires for trucks with high ground clearance, aesthetics wise yes it looks really more pleasing, the current "road going" tire type just looks a little flimsy for me for this set but its otherwise a cool set overall

You are counting 12 pairs of wheels and tires for the Arocs, this is a real dually model with a pair of steering mechanisms up front, I just think the wheels they used are flimsy for this set, could've designed a larger diameter rim with a new larger diameter tire

You are talking about the Mercedes-Benz Zetros MOC?

Interesting B-Model but I will just settle for the Main one, won't be another "twins" fiasco like what I did when I got two 8110s.
  9. 9397 and 42010, but I only went to detail them otherwise this is what jump started everything then came my 8110 the pride of my small collection. Last year I got so hooked again to Lego, my first year of collecting sets I feel enough cool kicked started it to about 40 sets then some parts order and hunted down 41999.

I wish TLG has a stiffer version of the shock absorbers, I modified most of my sets carrying the same shocks the arocs has up front and noticed they are starting to sag Off note I called Lego today and asked if they already have a pricing for it or final release date. NADA, it will be very welcome though if they put it and the Crane on VIP early access

Thats cool L-Motor for both, I guess my next guess is if I can fit an XL on one of them, looking forward to both sets.

But future exchange rates may cause a slight variance on the price, it still safe to say $230 - $250 is it's price and I think the 42042 will cost us $180? Get $500 and buy bought I say! Best value for me so far at 2,793 parts for the Arocs w/ PF, gen 2 Pneumatics and linear actuators. At 1,401 pieces the Crane is also best value for me because I don't have to buy a PF set, wait both sets will use L-Motors right?

41999 has it for it's winch, regardless I will still buy 42043, I'm tempted to buy other sets but as they say "eyes on the price" I did noticed that on my 2 8110s, changing the switch's direction has no effect at all on the pneumatics system since it has it's own switch and the PF just powers the main pump, the PF has more control on the turntable and winch implements. I have a bunch of the PF switch maybe this can be put somewhere in the 42043 where it will blend function and form. In the cab perhaps?
  15. Not unless TLG strikes a deal get a licensed European off-roader with a piston engine linked to PF and packs Unimog-style tires, I'm thinking in the shadows of 6x6 Mercedes-Benz Zetros, or a classic Unimog 406, why not a Land Rover Series I or II, neither have V-8s but has seen immense use in Europe. Anyway most challenging set for me are my 2 8110s.

I saw the pictures of his Arocs replica I think a week before they pulled off the reveal in Germany, just wasn't sure it was his replica.

    42043 Mercedes-Benz Arocs 3245

I'm thinking the same but mine is somewhere between the 42029's and 9397's, TLG would've formed an off-road/ road going tire hybrid design.

I got two 8110s and I affectionately call them "Twins" , I have $500 ready to tap on for both the Crawler Crane and Arocs, one of the coolest sets TLG made I'm thinking of getting one more and probably will keep it sealed but the Arocs has been revealed, 6 months more and my Twins will have their little big brother/ contender up for the game. PS: NISB 8110 fetch north of $290 in eBay.

    42043 Mercedes-Benz Arocs 3245

I'm just being picky lol, I does look a bit awkward so I'm just going to get 1 and stick with the dumper and crane main model so as to hide the engine, this is probably why TLG chose such popular config for the Arocs because it can hide the awkward configuration, either way its going to be a cool set, very minor detail I agree with you again its just my picky attitude. One thing though the L6 might have made more sense if they chose to make it a little bigger, bigger than the 8258 shadow that it's going to follow by any indications. Then again this set is already a done deal. Summer is 6 months away gotta start saving now

    42043 Mercedes-Benz Arocs 3245

I know this is off-topic pertaining to the 42043 and I have been adamant about it having the Straight-6 basically because I think as a licensed set and being a Mercedes-Benz Arocs I know it has to have that engine on it and fitting a 4-cylinder will just make it flimsy for me. Anyway that Straight-6 seems to be big for this little big guy and Mercedes-Benz has a pallet of trucks that Lego can turn into their own future flagship sets for the Technic line, I would like to see this engine configuration in future sets/ deals with Mercedes-Benz trucks as follows: - Actros - Zetros (main model is a 6x6 - with 3 working differentials and portal axles, B-Model is the 4x4) - L-Series trucks sold from 1959 to 1995 - Gelandewagen (classic bare bones model) - Unimog U423/U523 (the U4023/U5023 still has a Straight-4 on it) The problem with the 42043 is that its a cab forward design truck and not your short/long bonnet-nosed truck and simply fitting the Straight-6 on it will require it having to have that specific model in the Arocs line that looks like a sleeper cab so as to accommodate the length of the Straight-6, but for one thing I will still buy this set because I like the real-life Arocs as much as I like the Unimog, Zetros, and G-Wagen, fitting this L6 on these trucks should Lego go forward with the idea of creating future sets for Mercedes-Benz - as what they did with Ferrari and Lamborghini when the Racers line was still sold - will make sense now as such engine can fit in perfectly underneath the hood of those trucks.

    42043 Mercedes-Benz Arocs 3245

Negative, It's not going to be an Arocs if it doesn't pack a straight-6, it's just going to another technic truck, Lego got to fit a V8 in the 8258 and fitting a straight-6 is something I wanted to see in this model the moment I learned Lego is toying on another MB truck set.

At this point I guess only AFOLs can help sustain the Technic line in the US, I go to ToysR' Us and on the Lego aisle you won't kids swarming Technics they like Star Wars, Chima, Ninjago. Now that part I missed because I had newer sets and just started ramping up my collection back '13 but I think regardless of where the HOG is placed or what kind of principle Lego designers use to employ HOG steering it will not really hurt the sets' overall look

    42043 Mercedes-Benz Arocs 3245

The pictures does confirm the Straight-6 is there, I hope to see the set's HOG system trickle down in future sets, the style it has which has no knobs but instead makes use of the beacon lights is a wise move.
