That will be a challenge to motorize it. Putting an old-style 9V motor below one of the rolling stock would move their wheels too close together. I've got the set but it is sitting unopened for a while and I am far away from my motors to try fitting one. I'm playing around in MLCAD and I think the best solution is to add a tender to the set. fW

You have attached the crane arm upside down! Have a look at the box image in the background! fW -
Me, too. But when I came back from the store the website was out of stock. So I went back the other day to the store, told them that the online offer was -25%, they did check the website, printed the screenshot and told me that they have a price guarantee to match the online price in the store.... and I got it at the -25%! I was asking this for a few sets last week as on-line there was a bunch of them on sale but in the real life only a few were marked ... fW

Hi, I would also be very much interested in joining the RA! fW -
That's for sure, TLG is afraid of an insane US lawsuit involving massive $$$ after somebody poked himself or other persons with those minifigs accessories... sad but true. Earlier accessories were made of much harder plastic...

Using new Power Functions motors with older Technic Train speed contro
freakwave replied to RCcrawlerguy's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I just got my Bricklink order for the connecting cables between the train speed control and the PF. Must say it is great to control and about being tethered, I plan to use it in some MOCs which are stationary but shall run for a long time, so batteries would be a pain in many ways like durability and accessability. Happy I did buy those cables! -
Why Storing Technic Sets Assembled Is Bad
freakwave replied to phool's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
This looks definately that there was excessive (sheering) force applied to the pin The only set assembled "as is" which was said to have this is the 10033 ISD. It it supported at the last quarter and the fornt has more than 50 cm of unsupported bricks. I had mine not that long assembled, but it should have occured after three months that the technic beams started bending. For my self the only time I had parts benging is my ferriswheel, where the 1600g wheel is supporteb by two 8L Axle. After being static for two months they were really bent... fW -

TECHNIC Sets from 2010

@ 'Blakbird' - The U-joint going to the linear actuator for the bucket (the one furthest out the arm) is operating at an extreme angle, almost 45 degrees. This will make it pretty inefficient but I assume LEGO has done the testing to make sure it won't bind. The output speed will be non-linear (jerky), but if it is slow enough you may not notice. I rebuild the arm and you are right, unless I do a bit more finetuning, the movement is, well as you noted, a bit jerky. - The use of U-joints to send torque up the arm from motors in the chassis rather than having smaller motors located at the point of load means that there will be LOTS of U-joints. Every articulation point of the arm has to have a corresponding U-joint for each function passing that axis. There are a total of 8 U-Jointup the arm! Has there been any set with more? Well it is an equalizer, sets with 8 x 4L U-joints do exist! The routing of the axles to drive the LAs is great. in my BS Folder arm contracted arm extended fW -

Around the 1997 and 1998 there were a few simple "Bungee Cord" cars, follow the links to peeron for the instructions! 2854 Bungee Chopper 2129 Blast-Off Dragster 8202 Blast Off Chopper 8205 Bungee Blaster You should get an idea how that can be realized! I got them recently and they are simple yet effective! fW -

freakwave replied to Darth Legolas's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
have a look at this adder-subtractor, in my Brickshelf folder, the 16 tooth gear was perfect for this application! Edit: now the link should work!
