    The Big Bang Theory Discussion

TBBT is an incredibly popular and successful show- its built on relatable, amiable characters, and well acted and written. Its played a major part in both normalising and popularising 'nerd' culture. Naturally, whether or not you enjoy it, is of course, a matter of taste. (I understand Modern Family is very popular- didn't enjoy it myself). Sure, the core premise of TBBT was the culture clash between the cool girl and the nerdy guys and a certain amount of stereotype based humour ensued (not just 'targeting' the nerds- there's plenty aimed at the 'prom queen') but to a certain extent its her assimilation, both culturally and romantically, into the nerdy group that drives the relationships- and reflects cultural shifts in real life. For what its worth, I had never heard of Community until this thread- currently watching the pilot. So far I've found it unrelatable (could be a UK/US divide thing) and unpleasant with about one funny joke in 14.5 minutes and dislikable characters. Maybe it gets better- I personally wont be finding out (unless the next 10 minutes is amazing (update: it wasn't)). Its notable that despite critical acclaim (I totally get why it hits the critic sweet spot) its viewing figures are way behind TBBT and its been cancelled from one network already. Its way more 'cult' than TBBT- and good as 'cult' can be, mainstream is far more marketable. In terms of Lego sets- there's already plenty of themes that are adult focussed. As an avid DC comics fan, the new 52 (which I love) is utterly, demonstrably unsuitable for children, as is Dark Knight and the Dark Knight Rises- yet we have Lego based on all 3. In that context making a one shot Lego set, that 10,000 people voted for, on an intensely popular show seems like a winner to me.

    The Big Bang Theory Discussion

Starting to think I watch a different Big Bang Theory to half the people here... As one of my favourite shows I'm super excited for this. (If anyone's wondering I'm definitely a nerd, I've been in so many situations they find themselves in- its like laughing at my own life which everyone should do). Its also filmed in front of a studio audience, rather than having a laugh track. From a Lego point of view its really interesting that a set with so many minifigures has been chosen- if they do the full (main) cast its way more than I'd have expected from an ideas set.

LEGO Star Wars 2015 Pictures and Rumors

Spyderlord: I'm not sure I agree with the first part of your analysis- its not really adapting operations significantly to produce sets for release in October/November (they're doing it for the Hobbit as we speak- a property unlikely to get releases next year I would have thought); plus companies adapt their ops all the time (for anything from diversification to new products). That said, generally I'd agree that it would not be the most profitable option to release unknown Ep VII sets too early, but they've done it for multiple films now and Ep VII is likely to be the most hyped of all so presumably the data tells them it works. Its possible, of course, that good or bad sales of the ghost and phantom might direct their strategy a little.

Totally agree with this- as I got more into TCW I ended up spending considerably more replacing human clone wars heads with their regular counterparts (I've bought so many clone heads and Anakin heads its not even funny)! The alien faces (that I couldn't replace anyway) grated on me less fortunately and don't look *too* out of place- but the opportunity to get a regular minifig Ventress (whether styled after Tartakovsky's series or the later one) would be too good to pass up.

Teenager at war whines...how unrealistic... (Don't really get the alien hate- its Star Wars...) Personally they both seem like the most interesting heroic characters in their respective shows.

I really liked Ashoka, she was possibly my favourite thing about the Clone Wars- heroic without being goody-two shoes and a cynic without being dark and brooding, plus her relationship with Anakin added interesting subtext. I guess each to their own. It is too early to judge rebels, its got a really ANH vibe to me, so I'm a bit worried it'll lack depth but I'm expecting it to be fun nonetheless. More on topic, so far I've really liked the rebels sets- they've got that junker star wars feel to them, plus love the figs. I'm expecting to get all of them next wave (in fact, as the T16 is the only thing I don't want this'll be an expensive wave)! Don't mind the stormie design- I'd just like some consistency so I end up with a sizeable group (I'm lacking storm troopers having only come back to star wars Lego this year). ps really hope Ashoka turns up in Rebels... and preferably a future set.

General Magma is quite right- and don't forget Darth Bane is canon; his spirit speaks to Yoda in the last season of Clone wars.

The purple suit is from the Batman RIP story arc, can't quite remember the name of it and don't have my graphic novels to hand...

    Upcoming Classic Space Reboot?

I loved Galaxy Squad but its nothing like classic space or the second generation themes- its brutal and militaristic; classic space was something very different

Super Heroes 2014 Rumors & Discussion

Its got quite a 'Dark Knight Returns' feel to the suit from the symbol and shirt ears. Hard to say how itll look on film but I'm all for a more radically different Lego print!

I hate the snowtrooper skirts- they looked cool in the actual movie but just look like little skirts and they look really odd next to older snowtroopers. I left mine off...

I'm sure there's a technical name for it but they're basically sci-fi binoculars

Excellently, no stickers in the AT-AT set, that makes me pretty happy!
