    DC Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

I can also see Lego throwing in a few Batmobiles considering it's canon in the comics that Bruce likes to keep a collection. Maybe this could be a way to get some versions that Lego would never really make as standalone sets, like a 1940s Batmobile or even the Schumacher Batmobiles.

Now that I think about it, I'm hoping for it to be comic based as well mainly because it would be the best chance of FINALLY getting a comic Alfred minifigure for the first time since 2006 that isn't based on the 1966 show/movies (I count The Lego Batman Movie Alfred in that group). Plus getting actual giant versions of the penny, dinosaur, and Joker card instead of being mini easter eggs like how they were in the 2019 Batcave.

    DC Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

For years I've held the belief that the 2006 Batcave would never be topped in terms of the scale and detail. Looks like that 17 year streak ends this year in June when this comes out. AND it's a fully enclosed Batcave, this is the sort of stuff that I thought would only be possible in MOC form. Now I wonder if it'll be comic based or movie based, that's the one thing missing from this reveal.

Just when I thought my wallet would be relatively safe this year (unless this turns out to be a giant Batmobile for the upcoming Batman buildable figure to sit in...) Maybe it's because I've been on a bit of a Keaton Batman kick ever since I saw The Flash trailer, but besides the possibility of being an extremely detailed Arkham, I'm willing to bet it'll be his Batcave. I just feel like with Lego making the 1989 Batmobile and Batwing, they'd tie it all together with the Batcave so that you can keep everything in one place. Though out of the two Batcave designs that were in the Burton movies, the one from Batman Returns has a lot more set potential with all that's in it, especially the costume vault with the dozens of spare Batsuits. You know Lego would include that in order to justify a reason to buy multiples of the Keaton Batsuit minifigure. Nevertheless, I'm really excited to see what this ends up being, now if we could just get the first set images of the Flash Tracking set to kick things off...

The door's always open at the DC thread if you ever want to leave something explosive there as well.

Well well, I guess this upcoming wave is going to be the summer of Keaton. All that's missing now is a set for Batman Returns with the Batskiboat to round out his vehicle lineup (in live action at least, if Lego really wanted to complete the list they should make a small set with the Batcycle from the Batman '89 comic from 2 years ago). The big Batman buildable figure is an easy pass for me though, I wish I knew why Lego is going all in on these figures because surely they can't be selling THAT well. Getting a minifigure scale 1989 Batwing is a surprise, especially since Keaton's Batman will be flying a new Batwing model in The Flash. You'd think Lego would make that version instead of the first one, but the 1989 one is much more recognizable so it makes sense. It's funny because the Batwing from 2019 that came in the Riddler set with Shazam was pretty much 99% accurate to the 1989 design, you just needed to remove the unnecessary missiles and stickers and you were all set. The Batman in this set is definitely going to be be wearing the 1989 suit, so even if the Flash Tracking set uses Keaton's 2023 Batsuit, we'll at least have one version of his design that can fit in the 1989 Batmobile. I just hope the Joker in this set either has a hairpiece this time or a hair/hat combo piece like what the new Indiana Jones figure is getting, plus his comically large pistol.

Knowing Lego, the polybag is going to be a microbuild of the Batmissile from Batman Returns.

Zod was shown on the back of the box for The Flash Funko Pops. But even then, he's supposed to be the exact same version from Man of Steel. Lego probably doesn't see much use in remaking that figure when the old one still holds up to this day, especially when you put on the Kryptonian armor pieces.

Probably a hot take, but I would've easily taken a BTAS Two-Face minifigure over the Phantasm in that Gotham mosaic set. You could pretty much make the Phantasm the purist way without having to resort to using any custom pieces, but it's been 17 years since we last had a black/white suit Two-Face (and The Animated Series is where that color combo originated from in the first place). After that we've only ever gotten Two-Face wearing brightly colored suits that really doesn't represent the concept of dichotomy as well as black and white does. Granted, one of those minifigures was based on his Golden Age appearance, but it would've worked better if he was paired with a Golden Age Batman because the orange/purple suit just wasn't it. Lego already has this weird aversion with including Harvey in the sets, I can count on one hand the number of times he's been a minifigure, and that's including the overexaggerated Lego Batman Movie version. He's an A-list Batman villain yet from the time the DC theme began in 2012, he's been in 2 sets (strictly the comic version, not the Billy Dee Williams version), and as of this year it'll be 4 years from when he last appeared in the 2019 Batcave. If Lego is finally capitalizing on the BTAS popularity, then the no-brainer decision would be including this design in a set with the BTAS Batmobile instead of reusing the Joker again.

I think that was just an error, I opened the app right now and it lists the original Batman theme back in the Retired section while DC Super Heroes is current.

Then there's me who's only watching the movie for Keaton's Batman, and the only reason why I'm even getting the set is because of the chance to get an updated version of the 1989 Batmobile that won't cost me over $100 to buy online like the GWP version from 2019.

    DC Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

Looking back at The Batman Batmobile/Tumbler sets that were both around the same price point as the Flash Tracking set and only included 2 minifigures, I'm 99% confident that this set will have Keaton's Batman and the regular DCEU Flash. Getting Supergirl or the other Barry Allen that's wearing one of Keaton's old Batsuits that's been turned into a makeshift Flash suit as a third figure would be amazing, but I'm not getting my hopes up. And I'm just going to say it, Batfleck has the lowest chance of appearing unless this set or the movie does extremely well to the point where Lego decides to make a small set with his Batcycle later in the year or even next year.

There are other ways to differentiate the two besides their age. Pattinson's Batman/BatVerse Batman can stick with the gritty realism theme and darker tone while wearing the black and grey armor, while the DCU Batman can wear the blue and grey (maybe even as a cloth suit considering Gunn ripped Peacemaker's costume straight from the comics instead of making it armor) and deal with more fantastical concepts since he'll be in a world with the Justice League and metahumans.

    DC Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

Imagine lol, but there's no way that a set priced at $45 would only include a bike and nothing else (though I'm kind of surprised that Lego didn't jump at the chance to make a set with Batfleck's Batcycle considering it actually looks like an oversized motorcycle build that Lego would make). Besides, Keaton's Batman is going to be one of the main characters in the movie based on all the leaked marketing images, while Batfleck is nowhere to be seen. I'm going with the second option with the old cowl and new print. While the cape/cowl piece looks amazing (and accurate since you can't turn the minifigure's head with it on), there's no way the figure would be able to fit inside the actual Batmobile. Using that piece is fine with the D2C vehicles since those weren't meant for minifigures to sit in anyways, but Lego isn't about to make a minifigure scale Batmobile and include a Batman that can't sit in it. And I think it won't be the exact 1989 suit since Keaton's new Batsuit for the movie is different from his original suits. For starters, there's a black utility belt instead of bright yellow, and the torso design is different as well. Though going with Lego's past history of making figures based off of concept art, maybe they'll use the 1989 or Batman Returns suit for the torso print as all the leaked concept art for the movie (it's on Google) shows Keaton wearing either of those suits.
  15. Well I didn't see anyone else try and fix the bikes in this set when I searched for it, so I thought I might as well try to do it myself. After being disappointed with how blocky the front of the Batcycle was from the 76179 Batman & Selina Kyle Motorcycle Pursuit set (along with how it used a sticker for the headlight instead of trying to make it brick built), I knew I had to find a way to make the Batcycle look a lot more sleeker. Luckily, I stumbled upon this video showcasing their own custom Batcycle MOC and the front was absolutely perfect, I just had to borrow it for my version (along with how the side exhaust pipes were built). Combining that with the bike frame design of the 2014 Ninjago X-1 Ninja Charger instead of using those inaccurate dark bluish grey "Vehicle, Base 2 x 2 x 2/3 Wheel Fork with 2 Arms and Pin Holes" pieces, managed to give me this as the final result when I finished the designs using the Stud.io software. With Catwoman's bike, the same frame was combined with the general design that was used for her bike in the original set except with a brick built headlight over a sticker, horn pieces instead of two wonky looking antenna pieces for handlebars, and reworking the rear entirely to look like the design from the film that featured two baskets on either side of her bike that was used to store her cats at the very end of the movie. Overall, I have to say I'm very happy with how these turned out, and just for comparison's sake, I included a picture of the actual bikes to see how they look side by side. Thanks for looking!

Looks like Lego is getting ready for Keaton's Batman comeback in more ways besides the single Flash movie set. This keychain is going to be available starting January 1st, and it's the same minifigure from the D2C 1989 Batmobile and Batwing: https://www.lego.com/en-il/product/batman-keyring-854235 If only these keychain minifigures still had removable pieces, it would make the task of getting the cowl and torso/the only exclusive pieces a lot more easier than trying to find a good price for the figure on Bricklink.

Late reply, but I take it you don't really consider the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D show to be canon then? Because they gave us a tiny cameo from Johnny Blaze in the episode where Robbie explains how he got his powers. But I'm also with you on allowing more comic based sets to have their time in the spotlight, otherwise you might as well call this theme Lego MCU instead of Lego Marvel. I'm still holding out hope for a comic based Fantastic Four set, but knowing how Lego works/unless you're Spider-Man, the MCU variants will be the only ones that'll ever get sets.

I think that's just because of the poor lighting from where the picture was taken. If you look closer at it you can kind of see the lines and details that look to be the same as the ones on the actual suit torso. They even got the giant gap between the lightning belt right (seriously, it's so far apart, can it even be called a belt at this point?).

It might not have been anything special for Batman Day to a lot of people, but seeing the Batmobile chase from The Batman be animated (albeit condensed) and uploaded to an official DC channel brought a smile to my face. Though personally, I was happy because someone FINALLY built a MOC of the Penguin's purple Maserati Quattroporte that he drove in the movie. I've been trying to search for a MOC design of it online for months. The Batmobile set always felt like it should've included Penguin's car as well so that he wasn't immediately outclassed/screwed with just a stud rocket launcher. Now I just need to find out who animated this and to see if I could at least get a parts breakdown of how they built the Maserati. However, I can already see that some of the pieces don't physically exist in the colors that were used in the video like the "Wedge 2 x 1 x 2/3 Left/Right" pieces in Trans-Clear for the headlights. Oh well, there's always improvising.

Well said, it's amazing how their mentality has changed in 15 years. The original Batman theme drew inspiration from almost every significant iteration of Batman that took itself seriously (sorry 1966 Batman). It wasn't just from one source that they based the sets off of, you could see the inspiration from the Burton movies with the Batmobile, Batwing, and Joker's helicopter, plus a bit of influence from The Animated Series and the recent comics of the time for the minifigures. Even though the Nolan movies were the big Batman thing at the time, the final 2008 wave featured Batman wearing the Dark Knight suit for 3/4 of the sets but against villains that were from the comics who never appeared in the Nolan trilogy like Mr. Freeze and Harley, with only 1 "proper" tie-in set for The Dark Knight being the Tumbler: The Joker's Ice Cream Surprise. And even then it was only half inspired by the movies since the Joker and his ice cream truck were comic based as well. Lego could've easily made a few sets based off Batman Begins (which we didn't get till last year with the updated Tumbler), but instead they stuck to being creative rather than this weird notion they have now about the movies being the reasoning behind why they're not making anything/barely making anything for DC.

Today marks 30 years since Batman: The Animated Series first premiered...and Lego somehow didn't capitalize on this by making a TAS Batmobile that would no doubt sell out multiple times like the 1966 Batmobile and Tumbler before it. I'd really love to get inside the minds of whoever decides on what DC sets to make because this seemed like the most no-brainer idea that could've existed. There's failing, and then there's what Lego has been doing.

Well isn't this a surprise, I'll gladly take it. I didn't think we'd get any more sets for The Batman after it already came out, but since I'm such a whore for the movie, this is getting my money. I guess this means the Technic Batmobile sold very well if they're doing another Technic set (even though the Batcycle only appeared at the very end of the movie for 2 minutes). Either way, it's going to pair very nicely with the Batmobile.

If you're hooked on the Robbie Reyes version, I'd also recommend picking up the Fast and Furious 1970 Dodge Charger set that just came out in the Speed Champions theme. I know the set that Robbie comes in also has his Hell Charger, but compared to the Speed Champions one, it honestly looks like a 4+ set. All you need to do is modify the front grille area (since the 1969 Charger that Robbie drives is slightly different from the 1970 Charger) and you're all set.
