    Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

...How have I never heard about this updated piece till now. This is going to make posing look ten times better as the old one really did sag most of the time, it was more like a Spider-Man minifigure was swinging on a rope instead of a piece that was supposed to be a webline. And at last, we've FINALLY gotten an image of the X-Jet and what an upgrade! It looks so much sleeker and pointed now like how an actual SR-71 is supposed to be. The 2014 one was fine, but a little too rounded, especially with the front area. I get that it's based off the cartoon version which was blue in color, but I definitely want to try and make a blacked out version so that it really is a "Black"bird. Now if only I had the same amount of praise for the minifigures. Cyclops and Rogue we've already seen, and it was pretty much a given that Wolverine would be downgraded in this set in order for the CMF version to retain its exclusivity, so the arm printing/probably the leg printing are gone. But the worst offender for me has to be Magneto's new look. I didn't think we could get any lower than the 2014 minifigure with the purple outfit, but at least that one came with his helmet! When I saw this Marvel Legends X-Men '97 figure of Magneto in his classic suit, I had a little hope that maybe Lego would do the same and give us an updated version of the 2012 minifigure but with modern elements like dual molded boots. Now it's either buying the 2012 minifigure off of Bricklink from someone who isn't insane when it comes to the price, or hoping that Magneto is in the X-Mansion in his classic suit and isn't just a rehash of this figure (even though it 99% will be). And the less said about those Venomized minifigures, the better. All I know for sure is that I should definitely buy the Anya Corazon Spider-Girl head off of Bricklink now to make my own semi-purist version, because we're NEVER getting a symbiote Spider-Man at this rate.

And has been used to represent his webbing since the days when the first Raimi Spider-Man sets were still under the Studios theme, it's been here for a loooooong while. It's practically every Spider-Man minifigure's signature accessory.

Yup, and that bigfig Rhino from one of the other newspaper prints. But considering how all the figures were either leftovers from other sets, cobbled together civilians, or new figures with no new molds, they couldn't have been on the list anyways.

They explained it in this short, not the first name I'd go with but then again, I'm not the intended audience lol. Oh it 1000% is. Lego has been dangling the idea of a classic Electro in our faces ever since the preliminary leaks of the Spider-Trike set from 2014 that showed a green/yellow Electro minifigure...only to end up getting the Ultimate version in the final set (probably as a TASM 2 tie-in even though we got that Electro as a polybag afterwards). And after the designers included this newspaper print in the Bugle, they just seem to be getting off on our misery at this point.

But if you're in a generous hint giving mood...is there any chance of finally getting a symbiote Spider-Man next year? The possibility of Lego making minifigures from the Spider-Man 2 game like how they put Doc Ock and the classic red/blue suit from the 2018 game in the 2021/22 sets is the only thing stopping me from ordering a spare Venom torso along with a couple Anya Corazon Spider-Girl heads off of Bricklink and erasing the mouth.

    Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's never felt comfortable with taking the legs off of a minifigure (in my past experience, reattaching them always made the legs super loose and were basically ruined). But unfortunately, a combination of yellow hips with blue legs don't exist according to the "Hips and Blue Legs" page on Bricklink. There are 5 sellers who seem to be selling that combination, but they're all in Used condition...and I suspect that's because it was a custom job they made themselves instead of being an official piece. I'm personally going to use the blue legs with the dual molded yellow boots for now. I wish they had a yellow hip piece to complete the look, but there's not much I can do about that at this point. I'm definitely changing the hair piece to the Mutt Williams hair in reddish brown too, mainly because that was the hair piece used for Scott in the first Lego Marvel game (which is what this figure SHOULD have looked like with all that printing detail ) and it looks way better over the hair piece they went with. I do hope that Cyclops gets a second chance though and is given a redo in the X-Mansion set with the proper amount of detail for one of his most iconic costumes, because right now he looks pathetic next to the X-Men figures from the CMF. He especially looks like a 4+ figure when you compare him to Wolverine.

    Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

I feel like they knew from the beginning of the Marvel Super Heroes theme, which is why they made it a coveted SDCC figure. As for the head, I've been having the same problem for making my own purist version up till now. I've tried those heads you mentioned as possible replacements, but they each have some kind of problem holding them back from working as the perfect substitute. The Black Panther head would've been a great choice...if the eyes were a lot bigger, big white eyes is like one of the symbiote suit's defining physical characteristics. The Mighty Micros Magneto head was practically perfect, if not for the fact that the eyes aren't symmetrical and the giant glaring issue of the Magneto face print on the back of it. However, I think I've found one solution that is easily the best one yet from lego.jimbo.909 on IG. He used the Anya Corazon Spider-Girl head from 2020 with the mouth printing erased, and it looks absolutely perfect. If the odds of getting a black suit Spider-Man currently weren't the highest they've ever been, I was feeling really tempted to go this route (I didn't though because I was worried about ruining the head by erasing too much of it).

    Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

You guys are talking about wanting a bigfig Venom, meanwhile I'm over here wondering if Lego can FINALLY give us a new symbiote Spider-Man minifigure now that Spider-Man 2 is out (or at the very least a black Spider-Man head with big white eyes and no additional web printing so that you could make it yourself with a spare Venom torso). Lego might've made the first Advanced suit as an SDCC 2019 exclusive, but they did put minifigures of the Classic suit from the beginning of the game and the game version of Doc Ock in regular sets for the past few years. I feel like they can do the exact same with the black suit from the second game, maybe even throwing him in a set with a new Kraven as we haven't seen him since 2016. It would be really nice to finally get a wide release minifigure of Spider-Man's most iconic alternate costume over letting it be stuck behind an SDCC paywall for the past decade (do not look up how much the SDCC 2012 figure is going for on BrickLink if you don't want to go into cardiac arrest). With the black suit returning in a major piece of Spider-Man media again, Lego doesn't have any excuse to avoid it anymore and come up with random suits like this knockoff Scarlet Spider design instead.

So I guess I can possibly get my hopes up for potentially getting an updated black/white Two-Face minifigure after almost 18 years...before getting BTAS Joker shoved in every set instead.

Anyone know if 'tandnbricks' on IG has been a reliable leaker in the past? Because they just did a Q&A about 5 hours ago and mentioned that the BTAS Gotham art set "isn't the only animated series set coming". BTAS Batmobile, here we come?

    DC Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

After seeing both of these side-by-side, I don't think I can definitively say that one is better than the other. The standalone version has a few better details like more accurate looking side air intakes, 1 x 2 slope grille pieces to represent those exhausts things that are next to the cockpit, hubcaps, as well as a bonus feature of a trunk. However, the Batcave version has the better angled fins and interior design. I think if you were to modify the 50 dollar version with a few details from the Batcave design, you could end up with the best of both worlds (besides the biggest glaring issue of not being a two seater).

This probably won't help since I'm your upstairs Canadian neighbor, but I managed to find a bunch of them the day they went on sale on June 5th at my nearest Toys R Us, where they were mixed in a bin with the other recent polybags. I'm lucky I managed to grab a few that day because afterwards I noticed that they set a limit of 2 per customer...which was kind of pointless because it's been over a month now and it's been sold out ever since. I check the Toys R Us website every couple days and it still says "Out of Stock" for the TRU I went to as well as any other nearby locations. I'm starting to think it might be exclusive to Toys R Us in Canada because I've yet to find them at any Walmart, the only Super Heroes polybag I've seen there is the Doctor Strange portal one. Side-note, the new Batman face print is easily my favorite modern Batman head by far. It's like Lego took the 2006 head/my personal favorite Batman face print and updated it for today. Comparing it side by side with the 2006 head/cowl (thanks to these pics from lego.boy95's IG), it looks like the spiritual successor to the '06 version to me, and just for that I'm going to need a few more of them. I just hope Lego doesn't retire this head so soon after introducing the new cowl that renders one side of the head obsolete...

    DC Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

After seeing the movie, it baffles me that Lego's first idea for a Flash tie-in set was the 1989 Batmobile over the new Batwing. I get that the '89 Batmobile is one of the most iconic versions of the car, and it's easily the most well known/beloved vehicle that Keaton Batman has... The new Batwing on the other hand was practically begging to be turned into a Lego set with the features that it had. The ejection seat drop function where the entire cockpit area lowers itself, the weapons, and a rotating gyroscopic cockpit. Throw in one more feature of allowing it to fit 3 minifigures with main Barry, young Barry, Batman in his new suit, and Supergirl flying on the side like Iron Man in the updated Avengers 1 Quinjet set and there you go.

    DC Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

I'm also curious to know if any fellow Canadian has seen the 1992 polybag in the wild yet (Toys R Us is usually the one that manages to come through, though my local Walmarts did have the Doctor Strange polybag recently). And after seeing a few reviews of the Batcave, I can't believe it took me this long to realize that the machine gun builds on the Batmobile also double as some of the exposed piston details that are on the sides of the car. It's a neat touch, but I'm still removing the gear function for it once I get my hands on the cheaper 76224 set. The machine guns were only used once in the '89 movie for maybe 3 seconds and then never seen again, so they're not that important to me. I've also been tinkering in Stud.io with the rear afterburner build since it's been bugging me for weeks that the binocular pieces used for the exhausts were placed a little too high for my liking. I didn't think it would work, but lowering them by one stud makes it look a lot better (to me) now. Left is my modification, right is the official build:

    DC Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

I really didn't think we needed another 1989 Batwing since I thought the one from the 2019 Riddler set looked pretty much perfect. After seeing this new one though, boy was I wrong. The new version blows the 2019 one out of the water, especially in terms of the shaping with the curves. It literally looks like a shrunken version of the UCS set, it even has the same feature where you can hang it on a wall. I think the designers did a better job with this one than the Batmobile, but those stud launchers are definitely getting replaced with more accurate looking rockets. I'm curious to see if someone is going to end up modifying this into the new Batwing design from The Flash since that one shares a lot of its DNA with the original '89 design, just with longer wings in the front. That would make me want to buy two copies of this set for sure. The '89 Batman is the same as the one from the Batmobile, so no new thoughts there (though Lego is definitely using the new cowl to their advantage by using the Kaz/Shang-Chi head underneath it, which was also used for the 2019 Bruce Wayne figure from the Batcave so I guess there's one bit of accidental continuity). The Joker figure got the purple fedora in this set as we all expected, even though this would've been the perfect chance to use the new Indiana Jones hair/hat combo in a new color. But I really want to know how Lego managed to ignore the most iconic part of this scene and NOT give Joker his giant pistol. The one time that Lego could've given Joker a comically oversized gun that was actually from the movie...and they leave it out. It's super easy to make a custom one, but it still doesn't change the fact that the setup was right there and they didn't go for it.

    Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

Just seeing new minifigures from the Raimi movies after nearly 20 years is like a dream come true. Growing up as a kid in the 2000s, the dark blue Spider-Man 2 figure was the only Spider-Man minifigure I used to constantly see in stopmotion videos on Youtube, so finally getting an updated version instantly makes this a day 1 buy, no matter what the price is. I can't wait to see the alternate Tobey Maguire Peter Parker head. Doc Ock is a little odd looking since he definitely wears a dark green coat in the movie, so I don't know why Lego went with dark grey. I love how he still has the exact same arm build from the 2004 sets just to keep that little bit of continuity. The new Green Goblin on the other hand...is a letdown. The original figure from the Spider-Man 1 sets had leg printing, how does a figure from 20 years later not have any at all?! I wish they included his helmet as well, but that mould was no doubt destroyed years ago, it makes me glad I have some of the original 2002/3 sets. At least we finally have a flesh tone Willem Dafoe Norman Osborn head so it's not a complete loss. The MCU figures mean nothing to me, I would've easily sacrificed Ned/MJ to get a TASM Lizard and a regular Flint Marko figure from Spider-Man 3 seeing as how we never got sets from that movie. And the cherry on top of all this is the Garfield Spider-Man figure that won't cost an arm and a leg to get anymore.

    DC Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

After over a year since this set name was first leaked (back when it was still a Flash set), we finally got pictures of it...and I'm honestly shocked at how it's 90% similar to the Batcave version. I really thought Lego would make an inferior design here that would entice people to buy the Batcave for it, but aside from some changes like the side exhausts, the fins not being angled slightly upward, the back of this Batmobile having a trunk, and other little details like this one having hubcaps (which still don't have the bat symbols printed on it...), it's a perfect compromise that's much more affordable. Hell, this Batmobile still has the pop up machine guns feature as well, I for sure thought Lego would cheap out and slap some stud shooters on and call it a day. The gear on the side of it still looks just as ugly as it does on the Batcave Batmobile so it's going to have to go, along with the wedge plates that cover the guns for a much more smoother/studless solution. I can't wait to see the instructions for the Batcave Batmobile so that I can make some modifications to this Batmobile and get a result that's a best of both worlds combination. The biggest let down for me though is that now both these Batmobiles are one seaters. Lego has made 3 Batmobiles in the past 2 years that were two seaters, but when it comes to making a two seater '89 Batmobile, it's impossible for them. I know that if they tried to make this a two seater, it'd end up being 10 studs wide instead of 8, but I'd take that over going back to one seater Batmobiles that feel so regressive now ever since the Speed Champions line introduced the two seater chassis piece in 2020. Is Batman just going to leave Joker handcuffed on the street for the GCPD since there's clearly no room for a passenger in his car. Now as for the minifigures, it feels so good to finally get an '89 Batsuit with the logo printed on the torso this time. The new cowl is still getting replaced by a Type 2 cowl, but it's nice to get it in a cheaper set as well. I really wish I knew what that grapnel gun with the gold hook thing is supposed to be. At first glance, I think it's Lego's attempt at making the line launcher gadget that Batman used in the museum scene when he rescued Vicki. For Joker, the head definitely looks a lot more cartoony compared to the 2019 version that was much more closer to Nicholson's likeness, but that should be an easy fix if you have that figure already. Getting that hairpiece in a regular green after so many years (and after getting it in a lime green for TDKR Joker from the DC CMF series) is the highlight for me. Making a proper looking Arkham games Joker can finally happen now. The price is definitely the worst part about this set. 45 Euros to Canadian is 65 dollars, which I really hope isn't the case because that's absolutely insane. I'd settle for 55 Canadian before paying 65 for this. But either way, I'm going to have to make some space next to my modified GWP '89 Batmobile because this set is joining my Batmobile collection one way or another. Now I just need to see pics of the Batwing set and hope that the figures in that aren't straight up repeats of this set.
  19. TheBatstan

    DC Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

Now that we finally have HD pics from a proper reveal, it looks like the 2006 Batcave is keeping the crown after all. While I'm mixed on the set, I'm still going to plan on getting it...just when it's on sale for a good price because 520 Canadian for this is borderline robbery. It feels like we've been cheated out of a proper Batcave since a good chunk of the piece count goes toward the symbol outline, while the actual Batcave itself is just the Batcomputer, a gadget wall (which I don't even think there WAS one in the Burton movies), the suit vault, and a spot for the Batmobile with a tool rack. This set doesn't even feel like it's strictly supposed to be the Batcave from Batman Returns since that's clearly the Batcomputer from the 1989 movie, so it's more of an amalgamation of the two designs (I don't mind though since I always preferred the Batcomputer from the '89 movie more than the one from Returns anyways). Some of the aspects of this set give me huge nostalgia flashbacks to the '06 Batcave as well, particularly the guard rails, the ladder stair pieces, and especially the suit vault. I'm a little let down that it doesn't let you store multiple Batsuits, but at least it lights up...yay? The updated Batmobile is the highlight for me. I'm surprised that they included it in this set instead of splitting it up with the one coming in August and making people buy both while using another vehicle here like the Batskiboat. This one is missing the hubcaps with the bat symbols printed on it, so there's one thing the August set could include to differentiate the two. While the base of it is pretty much the same from the GWP version, the side details, canopy, and fins got a big upgrade. The sides look way more intricate instead of sticking a barrel piece on the side and calling it a day, the canopy has a lot more curves to it (though this one STILL looks like a one seater, come on Lego, are you really not going to use that Speed Champions chassis piece for this?). The brick built fins are a BIG step up from those terrible one piece bat fins from last time, though it irks me that they stuck a 1x1 plate on the end instead of a 1x1 tile to make it completely smooth, it's an easy fix though. The pop up machine guns being included as a feature are a huge plus, already better than the McFarlane version. Seeing this makes me want to see the August set even more because I really wonder if Lego is going to take this exact same design and repackage it as a separate, cheaper set so that they can make even more money. Good luck trying to find a spot for the Batwing to fit in this, maybe along the top. The minifigures are a mixed bag for me. There was no need to include Max Shreck in this, it's even worse that nothing about him is exclusive and the face they used for him makes it look like Christopher Walken now instead of from 30 years ago where he did not look that old. Catwoman using the Black Panther ear piece instead of the standard cat cowl is an interesting choice, though I guess it works since the ears on her mask are way more pointier and narrow instead of trying to look like cat ears. Penguin could've been a lot more paler, I'm almost tempted to get the Lego Batman Movie version as a substitute since that one looks way more accurate to Devito's appearance in the movie. Alfred looks perfect, and the Bruce Wayne figure looks close enough to Michael Keaton to work. The two Batman figures are hilarious to me because Lego really shot themselves in the foot when they made the Batman 1992 polybag. You could literally just get two of those and wait for the August sets with the new cowl piece and you'll have the two Batman figures from this set in your possession. All in all, this went from a Day 1 buy when it was first reported to a new game of patience in order to see how long it's going to take for this thing to drop in price.

    DC Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

Well color me surprised, with the low piece count I was expecting something like a 1989 Batmobile minibuild over actually getting a polybag with a highly desirable minifigure (that isn't a keychain). When the new cowl piece leaked along with the new torso that had the Batman Returns suit printing, I was so sure that Lego wasn't going to bring back the cape/cowl piece since there wasn't a need for it now, I'm glad I was wrong about that. Plus for those who own the 1989 Batsuit minifigure or the keychain version, the exclusivity factor is still there since the torso print and bat symbol are different. It looks like both the 1989 and Returns minifigures will have two variants by the end of the summer, one with the new cowl piece and separate cape so that they can fit in the Batmobile/Batwing, while the other is the one piece cape/cowl mold. I definitely have to get multiples of this polybag so that they can go in the Batcave costume vault. And it might just be nostalgia talking, but the render on the polybag brought me back to 2006 again when I first saw the Toy Fair pictures for the original Batman sets with this big poster. It almost feels like a full circle moment since the original line was heavily influenced by the Burton movies.

    DC Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

When we first found out that there'd be a Batman figure coming I was expecting it to be based on the comics, while a part of me was kind of hoping that it would be Battinson so that it could fit on the Technic Batcycle. But since every other Batman set coming out this summer is riding on the Keaton hype, it makes sense that it ended up being his Batman instead. Plus, the packagaing also gives us our first potential look at how the sets will be branded by using the Batman Returns logo instead of the usual comic yellow oval logo (and I suspect that the 1989 Batmobile/Batwing sets will have the gold '89 movie logo, respectively). I don't know what it is, but the figure honestly doesn't look all that bad apart from a few details, the biggest offender for me being those dark tan pieces on the belt which DO exist in Pearl Gold, so at least that'll be an easy swap. I definitely won't get this figure for full price, but when it eventually goes on sale I might pick it up.
  22. TheBatstan

    DC Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

After seeing the trailer, it sort of stings even more that Lego had more than a few set ideas right in front of them, but chose to do nothing because of Ezra. Off the top of my head, we could've gotten a Batwing set (considering how much it's been included in the marketing) with Keaton's Batman in his new suit, regular Barry, other Barry with his makeshift Batman Returns Flash suit, and Supergirl who'd be able to fly alongside the Batwing like Iron Man in the new Quinjet set. Throw in Zod with a little build that he could throw and it'd be all ready to go.
  23. TheBatstan

    DC Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

I should think about buying a lottery ticket. While it sucks that that Flash figure will basically never see the light of day now (and whoever owns that leaked torso/head should definitely hold onto it), the Batmobile was always the main selling point for me, so the set being retooled into a Batman '89 set is just a bonus. Makes me wonder how long Lego had this set planned as a substitute for 76221 since that was listed on websites like Walmart for months. And even though it's 99% likely that Lego will reuse the same Nicholson Joker for both sets, it'd be great if they had an exclusive Joker design for either of them. The Batwing set could have the outfit that he was wearing during the Gotham 200th anniversary parade with the buttoned up jacket while the Batmobile set could be based on his appearance at the Flugelheim Museum scene (that was the only time he was ever near the Batmobile in the movie anyways). Now the D2C Batcave minifigure selection is more of a letdown. Only 7 minifigures for that big of a price...wow. This was a golden opportunity to pull a D2C Sanctum Sanctorum and sneak in SOME Flash figures with the regular Flash that was going to be in the Batmobile set, Supergirl, and maybe even the second Barry with the makeshift Batman Returns Flash suit if Lego really wasn't going to make any sets for The Flash at all. Heck, I would've taken some of those alternate Batsuits as well. I just hope that the second Batman figure that's included is the Batsuit from The Flash much like how the UCS Millenium Falcon included both young and old Han Solo, because if it's the '89 suit again then that's the biggest waste of a minifigure slot I've ever seen in a set. The cave build better be the greatest looking Batcave ever, and also I'm pretty sure that Brick Clicker meant that the cave will include areas for the Batmobile/Batwing to be displayed and not that they're included at the same time that they're being sold as individual sets. Lego's not THAT dumb...right? In any case, bring on the pictures because I think we're all more than ready to see them.

    DC Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

If it was a set for any other DCEU movie, I'd agree. But this was pretty much going to be a Batman '89 set that featured what many consider to be THE Batmobile, as well as a second chance for a lot of people who missed out on the 2019 GWP promo set (even though you can literally buy it piece by piece on Bricklink for a fraction of the cost that scalpers online are asking for for a sealed copy, but the average consumer probably doesn't know that). There was no way that this would end up being a shelf warmer after the GWP set sold out in a matter of hours on the very first day it was featured as a promo. It would be like when the 1966 Batmobile kept going on Backorder multiple times during the first few months it was available on Shop@Home back in 2021, but even crazier. The whole thing with Ezra is the biggest and most likely reason for why Lego pulled this set even though it had already seemingly began production months ago.
  25. TheBatstan

    DC Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

It's amazing how McFarlane, Spin Master, and even Funko never pulled their merchandise for the movie, but Lego seems to be the one that always has to be different. Now that it's basically become official, I'm moving on to my first copium theory where Lego will repurpose the set into a Keaton Batman set and release it alongside the Batwing in the summer because there's ZERO chance that they'll permanently scrap releasing a 1989 Batmobile as a wide release set, especially with the D2C Burton Batcave on the way. However this time, the set definitely won't include the Flash and maybe it'll be swapped out for someone else from the Keaton movies like Nicholson's Joker again or something.
