Years ago I made a midi-scale version so I know its hard to get the shaping correct. Very good job. I like that you used the grey stripes for the sliding door hinges. I also like how you used the big wedge plates for the angled parts on the top of the wings. This is one of several vehicles I wish they would have done a UCS version of instead of the Star Destroyer. -

7 was a good movie, while 8 wasn't as well received, so let's assume that 9 will be at least as good as 7. All the "I'm never seeing another SW movie" complainers will go see it once they hear it is good. Despite all that, Disney has literally made three billion dollars on the worldwide box office of episodes 7 & 8, not to mention DVD sales, streaming, and deals with airlines like Delta who have the new movies on their planes. Disney is laughing all the way to the bank. -
I agree with this, but I think it would be even better if you had 32 or 64 deep building in front of the facade.

I think it would be fairly easy for Lego to do vehicle packs. It would be easy for Lego to ask all their designers to make small cars and other vehicles, and would provide a nice creative break for non-City designers. -
I get what you're saying, but I don't think it would work due to the first floor tiling and interiors. Instead have you tried removing those specific studs from the regular baseplates.

Very clever front and nice black parts use on the side; that technique would be good for Mitsubishis as well. Excellent work.

As other s have said, build up not out. Consider staring with a subway loop and then build your city on that. I do think its good to have a structural plan behind your buildings, for example if you look at Ninjago City and all the fan built extensions there is a common structure to the buildings as far as the water level and second level walkway. Building small can be parts intensive if you don't want it to look simple (not that there is anything wrong with Classic Town), but detailed small buildings are super cool. I found this person a while back as a really good example of it. Another benefit to building small is that it is easier to swap parts out for newer buildings. If you still want to have a street, consider building one instead of using road plates, as it can be smaller. https://www.flickr.com/photos/at94/ Also, Ninjago City/Docks are great examples of small dense buildings.

Exterior fireplaces make sense for entertaining outside; same purpose as a fire pit, but attached to the house. In fact a good friend of mine's house has that feature.

I like the way you stylized them with curves on the blue facade. Yes, the blue and striped side is angled and not parallel with the curb. I think you need to take another photo which really shows this cool aspect of your building. Thank you

I've been fiddling around with this for a year and I'm almost finished so I thought you guys might like to see the progress. For contrast, here's the original design.

Very creative and colorful, excellent parts usage, your street looks great all together. Its funny, I'm so used to windows (mine included) being recessed by half a stud that yours which stick out really stand out. On your blue facade you have blocks of plates on their sides, was that structural or just for texture? Also I love that you have a newspaper publisher in there. One last thing, it took me a while to notice that the blue sides were angled, you should take another photo which really shows this interesting aspect of your build.

It's just a walled area with windows into the first and second floor. Heres a peek through the skylight opening in the roof. To give you an idea of how much larger the library is compared to the initial design, the book over the now double doors hasn't changed its position.

What sticks with me is that the Falcon is priced the same but with significantly more parts, but the ISD relies on larger wedge plates because how else will you build a giant grey wedge. I suppose if they had used more smaller parts to accomplish it they could have integrated tiling but I think it would have been flimsier and had a tendency to warp/curve over time. If someone tells me that the weight of the ISD's plastic is similar to the Falcon's plastic weight then I won't be bothered by it and will accept that it is the correct price for the set, although that may not be the correct price for me. I'm not bothered by all the studs on the horizontal surfaces, but I do wish they had used a different technique on the tall vertical surfaces at the rear, that area just feels like it was an early design study. Greebling and details look good to me. The redesigned Tantive is great.
