  1. Wonderful collection. Great work on the stickers!
  2. That's wonderful! After playing with SBrick and ESP8266 and BlueSmartControl I learned that - besides automation with sensors and computer - I really need manual control devices that is not my smart phone. At some point you want to stop the computer and simply "play" with the trains, and that's not much fun with the smartphone. For the trains on plastic tracks with batteries it has to be something "wireless". But for switches your solution seems perfect.
  3. Hello, More than two years ago I built one of the trams of Karlsruhe with LEGO. It's the 8-axis "GT8-70D/N" (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/GT8-70D/N ). Now I found time to take pictures. It's a "one-direction" tram, so only the right side has doors(just black window frames, nothing to open here): It's modular and can be converted into a 6-axis "GT6-70D/N": It's built 7 wide and first and last bogie use the small train wheels. The battery box is located above the first bogie, so the tram won't derail easily. The first small module has a PF train motor: But even with these small wheels it operates well on curves and switches: Hope you like it! Steffen

The BVmot is a nice train. All of your trains look very realistic. Great collection!

    Karlsruhe Tram (GT8-70D/N)

Thank you. First focus was getting the scale right and have a tram that can drive on any LEGO layout. But I'm planning to built a 6-axis version. I think I will work on the gap and your solutions looks promising.

    Karlsruhe Tram (GT8-70D/N)

Thank you for this feedback! It was a temporary layout in the living room. My wife visited a friend for the weekend and the kids and I removed almost all the furniture and carpet... approx. 90cm (35 + 8 + 16 + 8 + 35 studs, with 4 gaps each approx. 2 1/2 studs => 112 studs = 896mm)

Wonderful! Nice train with beautiful details!
  18. In May I showed you my version of the trains that run in the garden of Karlsruhe's palace. This was a static display. In the meantime I motorized the trains and added the automatic train control with SBricks and raspberry PI (this can be seen in the movie, when one trains stops and after a few seconds the other train starts) I also put more care into the overall layout and the children got a playground (motorized with PF). As I did not know which size I could handle I chose the minimal layout to run the two trains. For this reason the curves are almost too tight for the long and heavy trains. The feedback was very positive, so I will continue with this - next time with some more straight track elements between the curves... The layout was displayed at the LEGO Fanwelt in Cologne, the moving carousel and swing can be seen in detail at the end of the short movie: (flickr) (flickr) (flickr) (flickr) (flickr) (flickr)
  19. Thank you all for this great feedback! Unfortunately I do not have pictures of the mechanism. Everything is still packed in boxes, no chance to take more pictures. The only details I have are at the end of the youtube movie

Great model, interesting prototype (I'm learning a lot about real trains across the world just by reading this forum...)
