LOL minifigures are nothing if not expressive! I wonder, should I continue posting comic pages in this thread, or rely only on my website?

Which 'Space' theme should LEGO revive?

So many good points on this thread, its exciting to see most certainly. I actually contacted Lego a few years back about reviving Aquazone and the response I got was a little sad, but since that time they've started to hint more at old themes than they ever had. The blacktron emblem in the collectible minifigures and Space Police was a good example above, and the upcoming movie is going to revive a lot of classic themes as well. That being said, I think if they do revisit any classic themes it'll be much like the upgrades through the various generations of Blacktron and Space Police. It'll be a new aesthetic following some basic elements, bringing the theme to a new generation. And now to my votes... I had to vote for a couple, no doubt. My top pick is Unitron. I felt Unitron were the spiritual successors of M-Tron. Both seemed to be an engineering corps, making it possible for the other themes to go about their business. Sadly, Unitron was such a limited theme with so few sets. Sure, they had one of the largest monorail sets, but they didn't get their chance to shine. Their uniforms are so darn iconic! That being said, I wouldn't ever be surprised if M-Tron or Exploriens were revived before them. M-Tron had such a great catalog presence and I have little doubt that they could be modernized to great success. The red and black color scheme hasn't been used a lot recently, especially with transparent neon green elements. I know they could do a wide variety of sets and really go wild. I'd like to see Exploriens done again, but they had one of the widest varieties of sets already and they might not want to rehash it all. And now the bad guys... From what I've read on this board, Blacktron has more support than I ever knew and it has more of a foothold for a revival than any of the other sets (as we've established with the minifigures), but I reall want to see Spyrius back. They are so insidious, so conniving. I really wonder how they would look with a less angular design, or if that would under-cut their design.

    Aquasharks Crystal Cave

Aquazone is certainly where I call my home, but I've never seen anyone do a micro set as well as you. They stand out so well, and are so faithful to the original. It is amazing work!

Ohhh I really love this. Curved pieces were pretty uncommon back then, so its neat to see more modern lego technology imparted onto an older theme. It works together so seamlessly, great work!

    The Space Timeline

I think your timeline is pretty apt, I've given it a lot of consideration myself. I don't know if there can ever be a definitive timeline as the peripheral information around Lego can sometimes contradict itself, but I think your timeline is pretty perfect. The only thing I'd want to assert is in the catalogs Spyrius was used as an antagonist overlapping quite a number of themes. They had unnaturally long life as protagonists, sort of like how Blacktron kept showing up as prisoners for years after their theme ended, lol. Very nice though, very nice... and relevant to my interests, lol. In a completely uncanon, unofficial assertment of convenience, in my web comic I pose that Aquazone may be a subset of Unitron, lol.

    MOC: Alien Lab

This set has a really great aesthetic to it. The gray/green is a pretty rare combination but fits it so great. Good work!

Oh wow, that really is amazing! I love the updated style while still keeping faith to the original theme. Magnificent!

    Comic: Project INO

Taking a look back at the many themes Lego has introduced over the years, it can be truly mind boggling... but at the same time, there is a sort of internal logic and evolution over the years. Project INO is an attempt at a long form dramedy comic series using a multitude of lego themes. While still in its infancy, there are many plans for this series. Check out more at http://ino.channel80.org But in the mean time, here is a quick little sample. The background Earth shots are created by Paul Wellington as part of his Brickville project (http://www.flickr.co...os/51756571@N06) and are used with permission, while the ships and photographic sets are original to Project: INO.
