The Lego Black Knights Sets 1988-1993

I really enjoyed your review on the black knights. They and the dragon masters were my favorite factions when I was a kid and still are. I really appreciate all of the time and effort you put into this overview and I look forward to what you have to say about Fantasy Era Castle and Kingdoms even though you probably will not get to those for a while.

    MOC: Hobbit Hole

I really, really like your hobbit hole. I am a big fan of LOTR and you did an absolutely fabulous job. I love how you did the round door and all of the detail that you put into it. I was also looking at some of your other MOCs on your flickr page and I was really impressed with them too.

    LOTR & The Hobbit 2012

I do not care how the LOTR sets are released as long as I get hobbits, elves, orcs, nazgul, and ents. I would also be really happy if Lego came out with a Bag End set and some sets depicting the huge dwarf underground cities. Some sets on Revendell, Helms Deep, Minas Tirith, Orthanc, and Mordor would be really cool too. Oh, I hope Lego comes out with LOTR sets and that they do a good job with it like Lego has done with Star Wars and Indiana Jones.

    LOTR & The Hobbit 2012

I would really like to see a hobbit hole from Lego that would be so cool. Also, I would really like to see a good set of minas tirith. I do hope the moderators keep this discussion open as I am a big Lord of the Rings fan and I am really hoping that Lego does release LOTR sets and even if it does not happen I still enjoy the discussion.

General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread

I think that there is a lot of life left in the theme for Lego to make that would be both appealing for AFOLs and kids alike. First of all a Tortuga scene with gipps, fighting pirates, and taverns would be great for the AFOLs. Second you could have a kraken set, a maroon set with jack and his rum cache, an undead pirates battle pack, the flying dutchman, the interceptor, a few chinese pirate sets, and a pirate lords meeting set. I think those and perhapes some bigger sets based on what has already been done would sell quite well. Also, I think that it is quite possible that the POTC sets already released would have sold even better if they had been completely finished. I mean the stern on the Black Pearl is pathetic and the fact that Lego did not release some of the main characters like pentel and regetti was a real shame but, perhapes if Lego does better with a second wave, POTC will sell a lot better. I also think the reason that the Indiana Jones sets did not sell so well was because the 4th movie was not all that great and because the second wave was kind of lame with no real tomb sets.

Black Pearl vs Queen Anne's Revenge

I prefer the queen annes revenge because I like the color scheme, stern, design, and overall construction a lot better. I also prefer all of the minifigs on the QAR to the BP since I personally did not care for Dead Mans Chest or At Worlds End so, my vote goes for the QAR.

    LOTR & The Hobbit 2012

The LOTR extended edition was re-released this year on blue ray. Also I am starting to see the prices of LOTR memorabilia such as action figures, books, etc... starting to go up in price. Also, Lego will most likely not release the LOTR sets until summer or fall of next year which could be why we have not "seen" anything yet. While, it is still somewhat speculation that a LOTR theme will be released due to there not being any hard-physical evidence it is also just pure speculation that the LOTR theme will not be released since there is even less evidence to that end.

General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread

I think that it is a little early for POTC to just end. From everything that I have seen and heard on this forum and around my local toy stores is that POTC is selling as well as the Indiana Jones theme which, is pretty good. I think we may yet see some more POTC sets before we see classic pirates back.

    LOTR & The Hobbit 2012

All I can say about Lego LOTR is that if Lego does actually release it and the sets are done right Lego will be getting a lot of business from me and probably a lot of the LOTR collectors out there.

    Kingdoms 2012?

If you look at the post earlier you would see that the guy asked a Lego designer where Lego LOTR is coming or not and the designer said he could not confirm or deny. I think that the LOTR would be a very popular theme with the kids. I mean look at the recent Fantasy Era theme and kids just love dragons, dwarfs, elves, and orcs. I just cannot see how anybody could think that Lego LOTR would not be popular with the kids unless they wanted to think that or they wanted Lego to think that. Also, if you remember back in 2007 when a lot of the Lego reps were talking about the development of the then new fantasy era castle theme they said that Kids preferred fantasy elements to more traditional human only castle themes which is why they included the undead skeleton faction and the troll faction.

    Kingdoms 2012?

I have to say that I was a little disappointed with Kingdoms. There was no big castle for the dragon knights which was my favorite theme. There was no dragon for the dragon knights. The King does not look nearly as cool as the king for Fantasy era. Also, I have to say that I was really disappointed with the bright fire-engine red that they used for the lion knights as I was hoping that they would use something more gritty like dark red. Yes, I did buy theme and I don't think they are as bad as KK but, I do think that Lego Kingdoms was lacking. I really do hope that Lego does The Hobbit/LOTR right and that we get some really cool new pieces like horse helms, special swords, new giant wolves that minifigs can ride on, a new crown piece, and some new wizard staff pieces. Also, some new orc swords wouldn't hurt either. And just think about a proper race of elves, with all of there armor and hairpieces. That would be just too cool.

    LOTR & The Hobbit 2012

I have to say that I completely disagree that Lego Lord of the Rings would not bring anything new to the table. How about the elves, hair pieces for the hobbits, hill houses in the shire, the ents, new orcs faces, a balroc, and perhaps some new wizard staffs just to name a few new things that Lego could bring to the table. You also have to remember that Lord of the Rings has been voted as one of the best books of our time so the fan base is huge. I think that if Lego does a good job and releases several waves I think they may just have a blockbuster theme here and I really hope that they do it right. I do not need a 4000 piece Minis Tirith but, I would like Lego to try and do a nice full city. Also, I would really like to see some proper battlepacks for this theme. Hopefully Lego will do it right and we will get to benefit from some really cool editions to the Lego universe.

    Kingdoms 2012?

This is just speculation but, I am really starting to wonder if Lego is doing LOTR/the Hobbit and since the two themes are so similar they are quitting Kingdoms for the LOTR/The Hobbit. There have been a lot of rumors lately that Lego has got the license and I remember a few years ago that a representative at TT was saying that they had the license to do a Lego The Hobbit game. I know that I would be pretty excited to get hobbit minifigs fleshy tone or not and I would also be really excited to get a smaug dragon fig. That would be just too awesome.

    Dino 2012

I totally agree with you. I always thought that feathered dinosaurs looked really silly and I do not entirely buy into the whole feathered dinosaur thing. I am really happy with the new dinosaur sets and I think the dinosaurs are just plain awesome. I really hope that Lego considers making a second wave with a sauropod, stegosaurus, and dilophosaurus. That would be just too awesome.

    Kingdoms 2012?

Yeah, I found that out after I posted. What a letdown. Ah, well maybe Lego will come out with a dragon castle next year. I have heard a lot of rumors that Lego LOTR is coming out so maybe those sets will be good too. I do have to say though that I am a little worried that Lego will botch LOTR like they botched POTC. If Lego did that I would be really disappointed.

    Kingdoms 2012?

I wonder if Lego will ever do a UCS style castle. I wouldn't care what faction it is or even if it is not much bigger then Lego's regular castles as long as it is highly detailed and full of play features like a court garden, training square, kitchen, large throne room, kings bed chamber, library and wizard observatory. Also, some horse stables, and a blacksmith would be awesome too.

    Wizards Cottage

I really like your wizards cottage. It is very colorful, fun and reminds me a lot of the game called Trine. I also think you should get some brickforge mushrooms in different colors like pink, blue, red, green and yellow to put around your tree.

That is just plain awesome. Really like the design and the video that shows how it works.

A Guide to building a Medieval Village

I will not be able to get to some serious MOC building for some time due to financial reasons but, I would like to say that I really appreciate the time and effort you are putting into this guide. It is very interesting to see some of the building techniques you are using and I do plan on using this guide for reference in the future when I do start building giant MOCs.

New Lego 10223 Kingdoms Joust Exclusive

I agree with all of that. As for the harbinger of doom for kingdoms I do think that unless Lego unveils a new faction for kingdoms that it will probably get only one more wave. I do wonder though if perhaps Lego is treating the falcon knight kind of like an oman of what is to come in future castle themes.

New Lego 10223 Kingdoms Joust Exclusive

I totally agree with you on that. I think that it is very possible for there to be some new Kingdoms sets next year since there is still so much left for them to do. I mean they still haven't done a proper dragon castle, siege tower, or even a proper inn. Not to mention that there have been lots of wizards in Kingdoms and Castle with no magic shops. Also, we haven't even seen a dragon cave for a long time. I would really like to see Lego do another dragon cave especially one that is built with bricks and not BURPs. Do you hear that Lego? No BURPs.

New Lego 10223 Kingdoms Joust Exclusive

I doubt this would happen but, I wonder if Lego would ever continue Kingdoms for a third or fourth year and come out with woodland and black falcon factions with castles, fortresses and forrest keeps. That would be just too awesome.

    LOTR & The Hobbit 2012

Well I have to say that I think that there is a great possability of Kids and big kids wanting to play with Lego Lord of the Rings toys. I mean what kid who is interested in lego and in medieval fantasy, which there are a lot of them, would not want Lego LOTR. Also, LOTR does still have a decent sized fan base and the books are a classic so I can certainly see a Lego LOTR theme selling pretty well.

    POTC - Black Pearl!

I would like to say that I am making a statement not an insult and as a member here on these forums I am entitled to the privilege of saying my true opinion however blunt it may be. Now looking at this set with all of the "experience" you credit those designers with It really does not show a lot of effort compared to the BSB, SES, IMF, or even QAR. Now for that reason I am very disappointed with Lego for not making a better BB and I want to voice my true opinion so that Lego knows to avoid the same mistakes with other sets. Now if you like this set and you think it is great you go an buy it and enjoy it but, I am not satisfied with it like the majority of Lego pirates fans and I would like to see a much better ship next time.

    POTC - Black Pearl!

First I want to thank you for posting those pictures. Second I want to say that the stern looks absolutely horrible. I mean I could have designed that when I was 10 years old. Come on Lego you can do better then that. I mean what happened? The rest of the sets for 2011 look pretty awesome and are very well designed so what happened here. I almost wonder if because Prince of Persia flopped last year that the lego executives thought that the new POTC movie would also flop and they then stopped any further development of the sets right in the middle of their design process. I mean the way some of the sets like QAR, BB, and London Escape look half-finished it would lead one to think that Lego just pulled the plug on this theme. Very sad because the Black Pearl had so much potential for being a really cool set but, the way it looks now I know I will not be wasting $100 on that.
