Brickbeard's Bounty better than Queen Anne's Revenge?

I have to say that I prefer the QAR. Both ships feel a bit empty but, the QAR is a lot easier to modify, probably why Lego put those grey shelves on the QAR to begin with, and the QAR has much better sails. The cabin inside BB is more spacious but is also more empty whereas when you put a door on the QAR cabin and put in a chair it looks a lot better and although is difficult to play with I think it still works. As far as the cannons are concerned none of Lego's large pirate or imperial ships come with all of their cannons and QAR does have the capacity for double the amount of cannons than the BB. The only thing I like better about the BB is the mermaid figurehead and then again I really like the flaming skeleton on the QAR.

    LOTR & The Hobbit 2012

That poster is great. Everytime I see more of this theme I get more and more excited. I would also love to see an Arwen minifig. That would be awesome as well.

Yeah, I kind of heard that too. I don't know for sure but, I would bet my wager on it. It just doesn't make sense for Lego to release only a few of the main characters of the series and skip characters like like pintel and regetti and some of the undead pirates etc...

    LOTR & The Hobbit 2012

Yeah, pre-ordering at Barnes and Noble is a really, really bad idea. A lot of the Pirate fans got burned because they did that. Usually TRU gets the sets first followed by the official Lego store and once in a while Target will get them pretty early too, at least in my area.

    Flying Dutchman WIP

I think that details of your ship so far are amazing. I really like how you are doing the overall shape of the ship and I also like the stern except for the face at the top. One thing I am curious about is if you are going to put anymore details on the faces for the gun ports?

    (W.I.P.) EITC-Ship "Wicked Wench"

Great ship so far. That is just about the closest I have seen anybody get to the overall shape of the black pearl. I also really like your color scheme and the fact that you are doing the ship before it got sunk.

    WIP - line ship

This is the kind of ship that really makes me want to build some custom ships of my own. I love the overall shape of the original and I also like what you are doing with the new one. The stern is really cool too.

    Custom Black Pearl finally done

Incredible! I am really impressed with your custom black pearl. That is the kind of ship I was hoping Lego would come out with. Great job!

    LOTR & The Hobbit 2012

Those a totally acceptable prices and ones that I am very happy with. I am now really looking forward to this theme and I hope that we see some crystal clear pictures of the sets soon and the New York toy fair.

The Lego Dragon Knights Sets 1993-1995

I really enjoyed your review on the dragon masters. I was around 5 years old when those sets were out and I was just crazy over them and the pirate sets that were out at that time. Thanks for putting that article together and sharing it with us. Great memories.

    Dino 2012

Excuse me. I was speaking about the franchises in general and how there seems to be a lot more popularity associated with sci-fi, fantasy, and pirates compared to a dinosaur theme. I was also going on my observance of different themes over the years. As far as POTC continuing there were a number of reputable sources, including my local toy shop, hinting at more sets coming in 2012 but, now I am starting to hear evidence to the contrary so ignore that point. Back on Topic, I wonder if Lego will release some kind of battle pack for this theme like they did with pharaohs quest and I also do wonder if it is possible that Lego might come out with a new baby dinosaur piece instead of the old one they have been using for years?

General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread

So is it certain that there will not be anymore POTC for 2012 because we heard a lot of reports from toy store vendors and other resources that stated we were getting more POTC for 2012. If this is true I for one will be very disappointed since I was really wanting a pentel and regetti. That being said I do hope that the news is not true and that POTC will return or if it is I really hope that we don't have to wait another ten years.

    Kingdoms 2012?

Would you kindly present me with the facts that LOTR is not going to last long. Have you seen into the future? Have you talked with a lot of Official Lego reps or are you just bashing LOTR for whatever reason? I think that the reason there is so much of a backlash is that Kingdoms was a historically based theme and the historical fanboys are disappointed that it isn't going to last longer and no Kingdoms was not the most successful castle theme. If it was it would be continuing in spite of LOTR. It is just the same old rife between the fantasy fans and the historical fans. Personally I hope that Lego takes all of these posts with a grain of salt because I think the theme will sell very well do to Lego being a very popular toy, LOTR having a huge following and being one of the greatest books of all time, and because the sets look very detailed and cool. I am tired of hearing people say the sets look awful just because they want to say it. All you have to do is look at them and they are very well done. Do they compare with Medieval Market Village and others? Well, no but they do certainly compare to all of the non-exclusive castle sets out there and they are going to be an awesome edition to the Lego fantasy genre and I think with all of the hope that this theme would be made in past years I think that they will sell very well. P.S. If you don't like spending money on Lego you can always stop. The prices of sets are always going to go up with licensed themes because that is the way it has to be. You cannot fault Lego for that and to fault them for doing licensed themes is rediculous. Sure they cost more but, they are also cool and give a lot more variety to the Lego universe then just the same old re-released sets every three years with a few minor improvements.

    Dino 2012

I highly doubt there will be a second wave due to the expense of the molds and the lack of popularity compared to SW, City, LOTR, and POTC. That being said, I am a big fan of these sets and I think that Lego should be praised on their design of those dinosaurs. They are very cool looking and remind me a lot of Jurassic Park, I wonder why? , and I am very happy with them. P.S. I saw that trailer on youtube and it is fun.

    Kingdoms 2012?

I totally agree with you on all of that. And personally I do not understand why people could be negative towards LOTR. If it comes down to collecting sets we will get some great sets, if it comes down to MOCing I can already see some great new parts for future MOCs, and if it comes down to just loving historically based sets we already have MVR, MV, and the entire Kingdoms line so I don't see why Lego cannot appease the other side of the aisle with some fantasy sets based off of LOTR. I guess to me complaining about your personal preferences is kind of pointless because there is no way that Lego can appease everybody's personal likes and dislikes. I really honestly wasn't all that impressed with Kingdoms because there were no dragons to go with the dragon knights and I almost hated that awful, bright, fire-engine red that Lego used for the lion knights. It came off so jellybeany too me and I really didn't like it. That being said Lego has done a much better job with the Fantasy Era, Kingdoms, and now the LOTR than they were doing with the horrible Knights Kingdom 2 in 2004 so, I will give them some good credit and for us fantasy fans this is a huge opportunity for us to collect Lego sets based off of one of the best if not The best medieval fantasy series of all time, The Lord of the Rings.

    LOTR & The Hobbit 2012

The characters that I am most looking forward to are the ents if Lego makes them. I don't care whether they are brickbuilt or molded I just want some really cool looking tree people. And I hope that Lego does do Sauron both as an eye and in his physical form. That would be just too awesome. P.S. LOTR obviously fits in the historic forum because it is medieval fantasy based on traditional Medieval myth like Beowulf. Also, the 2007 fantasy era Castle theme was also put in the historic forum so I think the Moderators made a good choice. Besides this has already been discussed into the ground already.

    Helm's Deep

Very, very nicely done. I really like that way that you captured the hornberg and I think that it's overall design is just plain awesome. Great build.

    Kingdoms 2012?

Not everyone is a big SW fan like you. Personally SW is OK to me but I have never been a big fan. Now LOTR on the other hand is like the perfect fantasy franchise for me. Now, I am not saying one is better than the other but, that they are just different. Also, when looking at the Helms Deep set I see a lot of detail in the design of the wall and in the overall set and I would like to point out we still haven't seen the Orc workshop set yet which, could very well be an exclusive set like Diagon Alley. All I am saying is that I wouldn't judge the theme to harshly yet when all we have seen is the first wave of sets and just preliminary pictures at that.

    2012 Pirates?

POTC is not lame it is just fantasy like LOTR, SW, HP, or IJ. But, really if you think about it the entire Lego Pirates line is really fantasy as well since there are no factual records of buried treasure, or pirate ships bigger than naval ships and multi-colored sails and so on. I really enjoyed POTC for a great pirate fantasy action movie and I am pleased that we can have officially licensed Lego sets based on those movies. And you have to admit that the current POTC is way better that the 2004 pirate line with all of the jellybean colors and the non-minifig charactors and all of the aweful BURPs and ugly designs. Besides I am sure that with all of the new parts and design techniques from POTC that Lego will get some great inspiration for future generic Pirate sets.

    Kingdoms 2012?

I would like to point out that Pirates still has a smaller audience than castle and doesn't sell as well either where as castle tends to have a fairly large following and the fan base for LOTR is huge so I think that it is quite possible for the two themes to co-exist. That being said, we had a fantasy theme then we had a more historical theme and I personally would like another fantasy like theme.

    LOTR & The Hobbit 2012

I hope they do a set on that scene with a white possible horse and some more ring wraiths. There were a total of 9 and only 2 are included with the whethertop set, which is expensive, so I do hope Lego comes out with the rest of the ring wraiths in a cheaper set. Also, the movie shows Arwen with a nice elven sword which would be a nice edition to the Lego armory.

    LOTR & The Hobbit 2012

That makes a lot more sense and is more in line with POTC. I personally think the sets are awesome and well worth the steep price to get them.

General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread

I would like POTC to last long enough for them to at least complete the theme with some more sets from the movies. I would really like at least one naval ship and the flying dutchman as well as the island jack is marooned on and the chinese junk pirate ship. I would also like Lego to make the rest of the mermaids from the fourth movie. They would add a lot of variety and really fill out whitecap bay.
  24. Jack Bricker

    Kingdoms 2012?

I agree with you on all of that. I think that LOTR will do well and may last longer than 2 years and I also think that a generic castle theme alongside of it would be great. Hopefully we will all see some pictures of new castle sets soon since it seems that Lego is going to continue that genre with new sets.

    LOTR & The Hobbit 2012

It sounds to me that Lego is going all out on this LOTR theme by building some pretty awesome sets. I thought that the box pictures were enticing but, now I am really intrigued. Hopefully we will see some official pictures soon.
