    LOTR & The Hobbit 2012

If you happen to live in or near Washington state you could go to one of the two official Lego stores there. I don't know if the Oregon Lego store has them but, you could try them as well. As far as Target is concerned I wouldn't wait around for them as they have been horrible in terms of selection and they are beginning to charge the same overcharged prices as ToysRus. So, yeah I would difinately try to go to the nearest Lego store or buy them from S&H. Hope that helps.

General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread

I am really curious why the Flying Dutchman got cancelled as certainly seems the case since nobody has heard anything otherwise in a while. I just doesn't make since unless Lego is planning to release it some time later or the model was really awful. I kind of tend to think the former possibility is the case but, has anybody heard anything in these regards? Do you think Lego is going to continue POTC at a later date or will they switch back to a more generic Pirates?

    Treebeard MOC

Nice MOC. I really love LOTR and the Treebeard character and you have rendered him pretty good. I also really loke your tree. Great job and looking forward to more.

    LOTR & The Hobbit 2012

It's just something that I have noticed over the years is that the quality of products at Walmart is almost always less than getting the same brand products from elsewhere. Also I was unaware that Lego had a manufacturing facility in the US still. I thought that they had moved all of that to Mexico?

    LOTR & The Hobbit 2012

I wouldn't worry about it too much. I have seen this many times and it is no big deal. They just forget to put gloss on the boxes sometimes and it doesn't really effect the quality of the sets. That being said I would stay away from walmart. Their quality is always questionable and I sometimes wonder if they buy all of their sets from china in order to increase their net profit. I wouldn't let that reflect on the whole of Lego's quality control though. Back on topic has anybody heard any information on the December Hobbit sets like names or set numbers?

Quality Control in LOTR Lego Sets...

I don't think that is necessarily the case, I just think that Lego is producing more than ever and the more you produce the more quality problems you are going to get. I have always had faces printing variances and different consistencies in the quality of the Lego bricks. I have mini-figs back from the early 90s that can prove that. All I am saying is that I wouldn't worry about it too much as the sets are made for kids and most children out there really couldn't care less as long as the parts stick together well.

    20 gun frigate 'Vesta'

That is really too bad. I really was a big fan of your MOC and I would really like to see it rebuilt. Happy for you on all of the publicity. A Lego ship that good deserves it.

    Which are you?

What can I say. I am a cutthroat at heart. Just look at my avator.

GREATEST Creation Helm's Deep by Korean

I think that this MOC is awesome. I really appreciate all of the detail put into the walls and canyon sides and I really like the impressive size.

Which Lego LOTR Character is your favorite?

I would have to say that my favorite Lego LOTR character so far is Haldir. He is awesome. After that I would have to say either King Theodon or Gollum (just because of his great personality in minifig form) and after that I would say Frodo with Sting and the One Ring.

    Future LotR and Hobbit sets

My guess would be August/September when we hear news about the new wave. Really hoping for a good Bag End set and a great Revendell set.

    LOTR & The Hobbit 2012

Yeah that is the reason. I believe I read somewhere that the Tolkien Society aka LOTR fan club celebrated Hobbit day and I do believe it is more popular in Europe than in the US but, I could be wrong. Anyway, I do hope they come to Europe quicker than September or at least those of you in Europe can find some economical way of getting them from the US. On a separate note, I wonder what the chances of getting a well designed Bag End, Revendell, and/or Minas Tirith? Those are some sets that I would think would be rather challenging to design and produce at a decent cost so, I am wondering what do you think are the chances of Lego producing 1, 2, or all 3 of those sets now that we see the current wave?

Review: 9473 The Mines of Moria

Great review and thank you for posting it. I have to say that this set is awesome and I am very impressed with it other than all of the stickers. I really like the cave troll and the minifigs included are spot on to their respective characters. I also really like how you include video in your reviews. I really appreciate seeing the features work and it gives me something else to go on besides just pictures alone, which are also very good.

    REVIEW:9471 Uruk-hai Army

Good review, although a score and a poll would have been great. I am having wait until my birthday to build this set and I am having a hard time doing it especially since reading your review. I do disagree with you though on kids not wanting this kind of set. Back in 2007 Lego did some testing on what kids would like in a castle them and a lot of the kids were very interested in fantasy castle vs. a more historical castle theme so I do think there will be a lot of kids wanting this theme especially once the Hobbit movie comes out.

    Review for 9470 Shelob Attacks

Good review. When I bought this set I got it just for the minifigs but, after I bought it, just like you, I really liked the rest of it as well. The spider is just awesome and you get so many unique accessories and parts.

    LOTR & The Hobbit 2012

Someone was telling me that Lego has had trouble keeping up with the demand of it's more popular lines and that could be the reason for the delays in Europe. Also Hobbit day is September 22 so that could also facter in to the later release date. That being said I would definately buy from the U.S. and not wait around for them if you are a LOTR fan. But, beware of ToysRus.com. I ordered a set from them recently and had quite a run around with them. They wouldn't ship it and kept going around in circles with me on the phone. I have had a pretty good experience with Lego S@H so you might try them. Back on Topic: I recently acquired the last LOTR set on my list, The Orc Forge, and I was really impressed with the printed shields and helmets. I am wondering if they will include more of these in later sets? I am also beginning to wonder if Lego will also release some Elven battle-packs? That would be just too awesome.

    LOTR & The Hobbit 2012

I have seen them at my local Fred Meyers but, not at Target or Walmart yet. So, if you live near a fred Meyer you might check with them. I have also seen them at my local Lego store as well. Hope that helps.

Review: 9474 The Battle of Helm's Deep

Get a life, Seriously. I don't like it when members insult and bully one another just because one beat the other to reviewing a set first. @ Lego Otaku Great review. I thought you did a very good job and it was pretty thorough. Looking forward to more reviews from you in the future.

    Historic Themes Banner

I agree a change would be a good thing. I would especially enjoy seeing some LOTR on the banner too.

    LOTR & The Hobbit 2012

I just got done building my first LOTR sets; Gandalf Arrives, Shelobs Attack, and the Mines of Moria. I have to say that they are all awesome and I think Lego went all out on this line. The detail of both the sets and minifigs is really well done and I cannot wait to get the rest of them. I think I will be getting several of each set over the coming years in order to build armies and parts for castles. P.S. Awesome Job Lego and I cannot wait for more!
  21. That is pretty cool. I love the how your MOC seems to have a lot of depth like a really dense jungle and I really love that new Lego T-Rex.

Amazing ship. I really like the smaller cannons as they seem more to scale and I especially like the captains cabin and the stern. I mean that window gallery is just plain gorgeous.

    LOTR & The Hobbit 2012

Thanks for posting. I really enjoyed that review. I just ordered three of the LOTR sets off of ToysRus.com. They should arrive here by this weekend and I might try my hand at my own review of them.

    LOTR & The Hobbit 2012

I have to say that after looking at the picture of the finalized Orc forge I am really liking it. It is a shame Lego did cut out that last minifig but, oh well, it is still a great set.

    LOTR & The Hobbit 2012

I wasn't ranting at you are anybody else, I guess I just felt that people were comparing the new LOTR sets to sets like the black pearl from POTC were the set design was clearly lacking when you look at the sets and all of the detail that they put into them I really think Lego went all out and I am of course going off of the toy fair pics that let me see the set from all angles so I do have a pretty good idea of how well built they are. I just felt that people were judging the LOTR sets too harshly too soon and not even giving the theme a chance and that is what I was responding to. I know that with POTC there were some major issues. The Queen Annes Revenge is basically like an easter egg shell to me because the outside is gorgeous but there is no interior. The cannons don't even have wheels. The black pearl was a major let down for me as the rear cabin is just butchered looking and I cannot put cannons on the two rear gun ports. The London Escape looks like it was trying to be both Tortuga and that tavern in London but there is no bar wench, generic pirates or anything else to lend playability and the carriages are only drawn by one horse each and you don't get enough soldiers to really make a good scene with that. I am a huge fan of POTC and all of these sets had both legitimate problems with both the parts and mini-figures included and with the designs of the core sets themselves. That all being said I don't see any issues like that with LOTR. The Helms Deep set is extremely detailed and has a lot of interesting pieces included. Just look at the BrickShow Prerelease review on youtube. The Mines of Moria I think does a satisfactory job of depicting that one battle although it would have been cool to get the bridge with the balroc instead. And I really like the weathertop set. So, no I wasn't trying to rant and rave I was just pointing what I was observing and trying to make a point that comparing LOTR to a rather unsuccessful theme when we really haven't seen the sets come out yet is a little to harsh and too soon.
