  1. In slightly unfortunate news, I found The Hobbit Witch-King Battle on clearance at Target for $10.49. All copies of the set were red stickered clearance, as was the shelf tag. They had no other LOTR/Hobbit sets out.

Wal-mart Canada's website currently has Attack on Lake Town and Witch-King battle for $17 and $8 respectively, a crazy good deal. Unfortunately the site lists them as out of stock and not sold in stores...

  2. Is the price of the Dol Guldur set jacked up in Canada? In the states it's a very reasonable $14.99 for the 3 unique figures, which is pretty solid as far as LOTR/Hobbit stuff goes.

TDOS was better as an Extended Edition, and I think the whole trilogy will work better when watched all the way through - at least reviews are positive on TBOFA.

It's $18 here, I guess it isn't that bad for three good figs, but it's a boring build. $150 for Erebor though is just something I can't do.

I haven't watch the extended editions yet, will pick them up at some point. I'm sure BOFA will be good, but again not great.

  3. I find the other three sets so poorly designed that I opted to discontinue my Hobbit collection and bought two Star Wars sets instead. In fairness, I think the movie quality has also diminished my interest in anything 'The Hobbit'. On the positive side, the latest instalment can only exceed my ridiculously low expectations. I haven't watched trailers, teasers or rumours - simply out of disinterest - and prepare myself for an hourly long, physics-defying CGI battle with yet more cringe-worthy dwarven comedy/ stupidity and a drawn-out Hollywood love story between Kili and Tauriel in a film disrespecting Tolkien's writing.

Thank you. I feel much the same way. This wave has been very disappointing for me. Lake town attack is the only set that appeals to me of the four (overpriced, aside from Lake Town I suppose) sets, but for some reason I just can't make myself go out and buy it. It will definitely take a really great sale for me to pick up the rest, and unfortunately any good sales on LEGO are hard to find here in Canada...

I also agree with you a bit about the movies. I did like AUJ though, just DOS was a big disappointment.

  4. On a side note, am I the only one who thinks that TLM would look a lot more movie-like if it were Olive Green rather than the over-bright sand green that we got? I'm not complaining, but just wondering...?

I actually think dark green looks better.

  5. Wild speculation: The series will be so short, it allows LEGO to hire Hugh Jackman to play Pohatu with the voice of the

    .

I always thought Hugh Jackman would make a good Tahu.

The gearbox is nice, one thing I'm going to do with it once I get Pohatu is mod it to fit with his legs like the Mata one for fun. :sweet:

  6. I hope we will see a theatrical film in these next few years. I remember Hero Factory had a (live action?) movie in the works, which undoubtedly was scrapped. And BIONICLE is much more worthy of a movie than Ninjago, and that's coming out at some point. I'd still be happy with a DVD release movie though!

I'm just wondering how Akimo got the mask of creation, and what happened to Mata Nui. Maybe Akimo is Artakha, or maybe Mata Nui?

Did you watch the video...? This is a fresh start, not a continuation of the old story.

  7. He seems to be regular brown, if not then Dark Orange.

And the Stone characters have to use yellow. They just have to. It looks so yellow on the packaging.

It's false advertising. If they don't give me trans yellow I will boycott these sets.

  8. Am I the only one who thinks a clear Hau is a rather strange exclusive?

Don't get me wrong, I want it, but i'm not so sure it's because I have an interest in it, or because it's exclusive. It would look very odd on a character, I think those chrome gold masks would be far more interesting as exclusives.

    It reminds me of this.

I think it's neat. And I'm pretty sure you won't see those chrome masks anywhere but NYCC and Ebay, by that I mean I would think they are exclusive too. Or just for display?

Oh man, imagine if they did those chrome gold masks like the Mr. Gold minifigure, randomly in some Toa sets...

Now that is a thought. Except having duplicates of minifigures is a lot different.

  9. Lego giveth, and Lego taketh away.

Also, only 2 eye colours by the looks of it.dang.

It's so cheap of them. I have always hated that in the later years we always got either orange or green eyes, for everything. Here the green looks awful on Pohatu. Really too bad.

117 people are reading this topic right now. Crazy!

  10. They do look waxy......but that may be the picture and lighting, or maybe these are prototypes. (Not early prototypes, just not-yet-finalized ones)

The color of Pohatu's mask isn't consistent with the rest of him, and I don't think he's wearing a gold mask, so probably yeah.
