Curious as to why you'd say "something I thought we'd never see done in any form for this theme" when we've had loads of cars, vans, a huge Bus, and Mia's Roadster (41091) with tool cart, washing and fuels station. Not to mention 2 helicopters; plus the new Heartlake Rush game is all about racing.

Could possibly use David from Heartlake City Airport 41109 (Summer 2015) as formal attire. Nate's bellhop uniform is formal, yet is dark red (Heartlake Grand Hotel).

Why not pack them away so that when she's in high school or college she could use them for a project; or build with them when she comes out of her dark ages. Plus, when she's even older, and perhaps has her own children, she can pull her Friends sets out to share with them! After all, they were her first LEGO sets.

As others have suggested, they could be clones. Bela began reproducing LEGO Elves last year, here is the image of one set I happened across: It's really sad if these inventories have made their way onto BL I haven't gone to look if they cloned Aira's Pegasus Sleigh, it's just too frustrating; yet the wings should stay clipped, and allow movement.

The puppy treats (printed 1x1 round tiles) and paw prints are welcome! I think puppy poop using that piece is hilarious ... I mean, why not, it's been used that way in MOCs. The slices do look more like Apple Pie than waffle -- with a "woven" lattice top crust look: Waffle tile: I'm rooting for Apple Pie and we can add Vanilla Ice Cream (not chocolate for sure now )

Yes, there are some Elves MOCs here in the Flickr group: https://www.flickr.com/groups/legoelves/ I think the sets are so well designed for the genre, that people are building them per instructions and really enjoying them that way. Since it's fantasy, it may be different than other themes, of which people want to tweak (Mod/MOC) to fit their particular City or historical reference. Hopefully new storyline will give builders more 'material' to re-create!

Seems they've designed a STOL airplane (which makes sense for a private plane and would help it land in less-than-large commercial airports). Short-take-off-landing (STOL) airplanes are very common and use the rear horizontal stabilizers to gain lift when they don't have long runways (acceleration for speed to assist in take-off). Here is an image/example of one: Photo: Ton Jochems Although these types of planes can certainly also land at standard airports; yet even most smaller FBOs have some sort of security (hence the aspects of the sets). This type of plane would certainly be used in Jungled countries with small landing fields. I'm sure Olivia can pilot it just fine. Remember, these sets must have playability too. Although we adults see "no door" in the model, the truth is it would be hard to place passengers through a 3-inch opening, and the roof removal for access makes the most sense.

The last year of the Victorian era, 1901, is the setting for my modification of the Summer Riding Camp 2012 set. With Spring Lavender starting its blooming carpet, it's time to go to camp to learn horse riding. Arriving in the Carriage at the last year of the Victorian era, campers pass the Gazebo and get ready to quench their thirst at the wishing well. Then it's on to greet Blanca & Snowdrop! As Bella leads the Carriage into camp, Blanca comes out of "Blue-Horseshoe" Barn with her Winter blanket still on to greet her friend. Carriage is fitted with blue curtains -- being the color most associated with girls during that time period. Bella is leading the carriage back out of the camp grounds. You can see the details of the seats inside. Can you spy a favorite Friends Animal enjoying the view? Blanca with her horsey blanket because even though Spring is near, Winter's chill is in the air. Bella enjoying a flower by the Gazebo. After a long ride, Campers can relax in the Gazebo surrounded by the lovely scent of Lavender just blooming. The Gazebo was a popular structure in the Victorian era. A Well for water and wishing was not uncommon at all during the Victorian era. Inside the barn we have the reigns, saddles, hay feed, water trough, and storage boxes. Oh, and sneaky little friend ;-) Inside the camp house we have stairs to the Loft with a bed and clock; below there's a carpet, sink, table, cupboard, chair, and sofa -- for relaxing with friends. Having access to only the last few sets I bought is good for realizing what it's like for a young girl, new to LEGO :) I borrowed some wheels from the Ice Cream Cart set(s) and a few bits from Lily. The Jungle Tree House (41059) is 3-stories with a laboratory; the set shown in that video is the Jungle Rescue Base (41038) as seen in these images last week. The technic hoist and zip-line functions on the rescue base are nice ways to add playability in the new Jungle setting! The mall is open-air, with courtyard.

Yes, 20% sounds closer and then when factoring in polybags (Friends has 8-10) and bulk (bricks & more category) sets/containers it's going to be getting closer to 30% -- which is more consistent with real-time occupations of most of the classic LEGO sets genres. Pretty much all newer set boxes have minifigure's images on them in separate inset frames, so there's no ambiguity. At the end of the day, LEGO is a creative toy -- and kids are creative. There's ample availablity of various bricks & parts, in addition to set, for those concerned about social factors. The LEGO Group is a privately-held company and although generous in their response to customers, after the red ink of a less than a decade ago, they have to be their own advisors. They have no mandate to be the cure for gender inequality. It's up to parents to provide their kids a life-path for self-realization to know they can be whatever they want to be in life. Loads of girls whose first LEGO set was one of Friends have gone onto other LEGO themes & products. They have also become more interested in 3D building. This will be a far better impact on the future results-gain by this gateway theme.

Agreed and yet their calulation of 16% seems way off. There are so many current sets which have at least 1 female fig out of three and may not even be on LEGO.com at any given time due to it being a direct-to-consumer site; the vast majority of buyers use other retailers. Even Amazon.com would be a better venue from which to analyze the current ratios. Or, even better yet, Brickset. Plus, publishing an article in June with data from back in March is kinda strange in terms of LEGO products -- which is constantly rolling out new items. Another source for their information is the woman who thought the Friends Cafe was pre-assembled; she's recently told them at Target store, out of 50 LEGO sets only 2 have female minifigures. That is quite subjective to any given inventory/store/day and whether or not the shopper realizes certain minifigures are indeed female. They complained about not enough female pilots -- yet fail to realize those figs will be wearing unisex uniforms. Horizon Express train engineer is another example overlooked female for their census. Someone should do an accurate 2013 female fig to male fig ratio compilation. You've explained one of the huge issues with these groups! Knowing the history of the product evolution goes a long way in understanding why & when certain aspects change, or not. Not only is their own data inaccurate, it's was out-dated even before they published it. The problem isn't just this one standalone article; it gets re-posted, tweeted, re-tweeted, re-published, shared, and re-quoted by some of their own 'joint' groups, as well as other similar groups. One reason is because talking about LEGO bricks gets people's attention; everyone has some level of experience with the product(s). That in-turn gets more people re-hashing their posted information (unaware of its false data) and then it's all over the Internet. They also use those incorrect numbers on their latest petition. Which, by any standard, gives reason to question any petition they place on that "change" site. It's also interesting to read how they double-back on the issue of LEGO themes girls like. In their initial arguments last year they complained that girls "already" play with Star Wars, Harry Potter, Castle, NinjaGO, and other themes -- therefore Friends is uneccessary. Yes, girl fans do already build with those themes; so why say now that those themes aren't accessible to girls? It's that sort of bait & switch of tailoring their argument that these groups use to keep people riled up. They gain more donations, sell more t-shirts, books, etc. All off the backs of minifigures.

The petitioning RadFems posted their "one year later" article on their site -- it's full of erroneous data (no surprise). They attempt to back-track on how they loathe & attacked LEGO Friends; now they have twisted information about "Legends of Chima" with regard to characters. They've also high-jacked that Cuusoo project and use it along with inaccurate data too. Quite pathetic. Let's hope NPR does better on your piece that the last one lumping LEGO bricks with wooden blocks -- good grief!

My favorite parts are the transition to the burned area, the cold food cases, the display cases on top floor, and that Firefighters catching net is very clever!

This build of yours takes several trips of viewing to appreciate all the details! The overall color scheme just pops! Such excellent use of the Haunted House set -- and sort of makes me think of the "It's a Wondeful Life" movie -- once they fixed up that house they threw rocks at and broke windows making wishes Have you seen that movie? What is also fun is the way you display the furniture and fixtures inside ... a viewer can imagine themselves walking around inside! Gardens are like icing on the cake for these wonderful houses! Hopefully you'll get good event photos with the train going by it to share with us later
