Something like 60-65 % of businesses fail in the first year. It's a difficult thing opening your doors to the world. Much of what we see today is a result of rapidly changing technology. Companies that fail to change and keep up with it get wiped out. It also seems more common for upstart companies to develop new technology and then get bought out by much larger corporations. Having control of a said technology can give you a huge advantage over your competition. If other corporations adapt to your version of technology then the competition takes a major hit. While this has always been somewhat the case, the ever increasing pace of changing technology is allowing for the faster rise and fall of companies.

I would say much better since we know castle will return as it's just a matter of when. With middle earth sinking into the great sea I see this thread a much more constructive outlet.

You do realize that over 100 million copies of the hobbit have been sold? One can only imagine how many times the ones in libraries around the world have been read. Or how many have been bought used or shared with friends. So to say that more people have watched the movies than people who,read the book I'm going to guess maybe not so much.

I'm not seeing any logic in there. You say it's obvious what buyers want but only offer terrible sales, please share sales figures, as proof. Could just be as simple as middle earth merchandise is just not popular. It's like saying you woke up and then the sun rose. Then concluding your waking up made the sun rise. I'm also unclear on how readers are different than consumers. Do consumers not read?

That makes no sense at all. Do you stop watching when the battle is over? I'm not sure why anyone would be even interested in LoTR/the hobbit if they find characters to be irrelevant. Let alone pretty much every movie made. Millions of people obvious are rabid fans of a movie because a bunch of random solders fly around in x-wing fighters trying to blow up some random giant black ball. Why we don't know because the story is complete unimportant. And who cares about some short guy carrying around some jewelry. Let's just skip to the part where a bunch of random creatures try randomly killing a bunch of other random people. Sounds like great fun. Afterward we can talk about all of those random people,who don't really matter. I'm not sure why they even used real actors in LoTR, they could have just used stunt people who would probably be better fighters anyways.

If the LoTR line did as bad as many here have stated why would TLG want to produce another set? Especially if one was previously considered for a possible third wave. Getting 10,000 votes doesn't guarantee as many sales since voting is free. Which is part of the review process to determine if a larger base of support exists to sell such a set exists. TLG's sale figures would bare that out either way. Instead what would make more sense for TLG would be to just make a new, larger castle under a new castle line. One that could use new molds that could be used for other sets. And TLG would not have to deal with any licensing issues while at the same time appeal to a broader base of buyers. In the absence of a Minas set I'm sure many of those idea voters would but a castle set if of similar quality as TLoR line. Recently in a interview the CEO of TLG was asked about why the Disney frozen set as not released in time for Christmas. He replied by saying that TLG was happy to have made the set and think its great but the one set doesn't really mean much to them. While many here place a high value on getting a set like Minas tirith, a company that makes 100s of products is going to have a very different perspective. Products have to fit into ones overall short term and long term goals. And in this case it seems TLG is not interested in continuing middle earth and instead wishes to move on to future products.

No I missed most of that episode and it appears I missed a great deal. After Amy and Rory left my interest dropped. I'm not a big fan of Clara. I'll have to catch up, this might get me there.

They aren't going to select a set for which they already have the license. Let alone one that size. Not to say they wouldn't make such a set, they just wouldn't do it through ideas.

Great news! First scooby and now the doctor. Doctor Who would make an excellent theme with all the tremendous material contained inside that little blue box. When I first saw the cmf 13 alien trooper the first thing that popped into my head was the ood. So many aliens, creatures and robots such as the silence, cyber men, weeping angles, daleks, sontarans, Judoon, face of boe etc. to name just a few. I can't wait to see what they come up with.

It's called a drop ship. Someone uses a stolen credit card to purchase an item and has it delivered directly to he buyer. He has your money, you have an item bought with a stolen credit card. Which if the police were to get involved, doubtful, you would probably lose both.

Lego is filled with niche themes that are successful without the need to sell multiples. Army building is a niche inside of a niche and in the overall picture is fairly minuscule. And by your reasoning the Simpsons cmf should be a disaster because obviously no one is going to buy multiples upon multiples of homer to build a doh army. There will of course be plenty of collectors who will collect this series. Plus the fact that these will be out the same time as the scooby doo theme and during halloween they should do very well. Many of what we have seen would easily fit in with scooby doo. And scooby is very popular with TLG's target market, which of course is not army building AFOLs.

Funny, thank you. The astromech head looked pretty cool. I can think of a certain scooby doo villain that could use that transparent dome.

I hope he actually meant Boba Fett. Which would,equally dived them into OT and PT. He and Vader are the only ones I'd probably be interested in.

Wouldn't necessarily have to be Disney pushing TLG, might just be something they both want to do. Disney might be pushing Hasbro in order to make it happen. Although handing over their entire princess line probably would make Hasbro open to making changes in other areas.

That could have changed recently. Disney moved its entire princess line to Hasbro the end of last year. Thirty percent of hasbro's revenue comes from Disney products and it seems Disney was able to privately kill hasbro's attempts to buy dreamworks. That puts Disney in a pretty strong position to negotiate. And they are going to want to maximize products for Star Wars. So if this construction line doesn't directly compete with a Hasbro product some allowances could have been made. I think it's reasonable to believe with Disney now owning the Star Wars franchise that we would eventually see changes in operation.

I haven't seen any reports on Star Wars. I imagine we will have to wait for the weekend.

Priceline has some good deals. I do like the hotel. I like the idea of a model of the grand Budapest hotel even better.
