Just as there is zero reason why TLG cannot wait until 2015 to finish up TLoR. I believe TLG has already shown their schedule may be a bit off track due to their lego movie push. Not to mention the hobbit schedule was upended. A winter release would still be helped by the final hobbit movie.

I'm leaning toward Erebor which I find much more interesting looking. And would be more likely given the limbo state TLoR seems to be hanging in. I,really do hope TLG really wows us with the third wave. I feel up to now the sets, with an exception or two, have been lego just going through the motions to give us,something. A great deal of potential seems to be wasting away with the both LoTR and the hobbit.

But did the second wave sets really reveal any secrets to those who haven't seen the movie? Seems the biggest secret was Smaug which what we were hoping for set wise. Otherwise the sets themselves don't seem to reveal anything but setting. And even there not everyone agrees if they represent what was seen on screen.

I think it's the other way around, TLG wants everyone here to focus on the lego movie products.

Well on the first page the listing for the sand crawler show chowden toys as the source. The link describes it as ucs. Which is what I based my observation on. Hard to keep track of it all. Doh!

It's the ucs going to be the sand crawler? Would go with the cantina and other recent tatooine sets rather nicely. And the new r2 print could be used.

I was hoping you could share these sales figures use are basing your opinion on. Particularly shoplego.com and amazon. Not to mention other online stores like entertainment earth. Because without those you are missing most of the picture. I keep seeing people talk,about poor sales yet I haven't seen a drop of evidence other than a few complaints from some brick and mortar stores. And in general these same stores are probably having problems with more than Legos. It really hard to compete with amazon who often sells Legos at a discount, no tax and free shipping. The vast majority of my leogos comes from amazon or another online store and I am sure I'm not the only one. Particularly since a line like TLoR is geared toward adults who are more likely to buy online and less likely to be hanging out in the toy department. I,do but only because I have children and even while I look I can easily,compare prices online while shopping. And I doubt I am the only one. There is also missing from your equation the point of lines like TLoR. While yes companies want to make money they also want to bring in new customers. So,some times a product's success is measured in more than just in terms of immediate sales. Anyone who runs a business knows that the hardest part,is always getting new clients. They also know that reduced short term profits while building client relations will pay off in the long run. TLG didn't become a billion dollar company by solely,measuring success solely based on sales. Sales represent the short term while customer base represents the future. And while a balance is needed other lines like Star Wars can easily make up for other areas in the short term.

Look at the movie as TLG might, as the ultimate ad for Legos. In which they feature some of the past as well as some of the future. Plus the movie is about targeting not just those who,already buy Legos but more importantly all those who do not. So when we see builds we have seen before I don't think the designers are being lazy, they are just putting it in there for a reason.

The upcoming city arctic sets seem to along the lines of adventure. Perhaps TLG is already moving in the direction. I do think that they will use the variety of themes in the lego movie as an indicator of future lines. Because after all what is the lego movie, if not the ultimate ad for Legos.

I believe that is for the sea cow. I doubt TLG would push back releasing Star Wars sets and then release such an exclusive right in the middle of their lego movie push. I cannot imagine this set being more than $200 in the u.s. and maybe even $180. This is an untested theme based on a show that has long since been popular. And if TLG is really using this to draw in more AFOL they are going to want to keep the price low. TLG can easily make up the difference on the minifigs and future sets. The goal here would be to sell a higher volume and help to sell future sets.

Lake town chase for sure. I really like the boat . An actual sail for the boat would be awesome though.
