Disregard my request, I mapped a to-do stuff for the weekend. I'll see you guys at the fair. I'll probably go only the first day in the morning. Will be wearing a brown guinea pig t-shirt.

Looks like I might be making the drive, coincides with another holiday. A couple questions: - Is it going to be the same content both days? I.E. should I buy tickets for both days or just one? Since it says to allow 90 minutes for the expo it seem kind of short. - It says it is 11 AM to 4 PM. Are there any after-activies or non-general hours / areas / events? Again, see ^ - Will the vendors be inside or out? Do they accept credit cards or just cash? And a random question, anything good for tourism / vacation / fancy spots in the area?

INTRO Hello LEGO fans. This will be my first review. I learned a few things from it so my subsequent ones should be better. I also found there is a review of this set already. I didn't read it past the first photo as I didn't want to unintentionally copy it. Another note, pictures were taken at night. The flash was leaving too much spots, so I decided to go by lamp only. I am fairly busy during the day, but I'll try to get my next reviews with better photos. I also don't separate the parts by colour or similarity, but I did for this review as it may be easier to see what's inside. There is also a catalog at the end of the booklet. Link to pictures in Flickr for slightly higher resolution SET INFORMATION LEGO Architecture, Landmark Series, 21011 Brandenburg Gate 362 pieces $34.95 retail model 22.4cm x 9.2cm (8.8in x 3.6in) Front Back Bottom Signature from the designer printed THE PARTS Box opened Booklet cover Booklet history information first pages Parts in assorted bags Parts sorted (for review clarity, I don't usually sort) BUILDING THE SET The instructions were easy to follow. Below are some random pages: And some of the building progress: Extra parts, among them a label in English. FINAL PRODUCT Completed front Completed back IMPRESSIONS - The instruction booklet was of high quality paper, unlike the regular LEGO sets. It also had a nice history in the beginning and history snippets throughout the pages. At the end there was information about the designer. - The parts had less variety and neutral colours. This opens up possibilities for different building projects. The set also looks geared for a more mature audience due to the colouring. - The price is higher and I don't think the better booklet justifies it. For comparison, the 70~ piece sets were $20 and regular LEGO goes for as low as $11 for the same piece count. - The set is still targeted at teenagers, however, it doesn't exactly look like a toy so it can be a nice room ornament as well. RATING Building: 9/10 Playability/Reusability: 10/10 Appearance: 10/10 Value for cost: 6/10 Quality: 10/10

Have you ever had your LEGO thrown away?
bgalakazam replied to bgalakazam's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I am now keeping all boxes and instructions. :D hihi -
Hmm, 6 hour drive from SC. Maybe I can go or fetch a plane if it's not too expensive.

More stuff for The Hobbit: 30213 Gandalf at Dol Guldur

Hello all, I'm Lubo and I collect Lego. I have a bunch of sets from early 90s. They were quite expensive in Eastern Europe right when communism fell. I am trying to catalog the pieces and reorder anything that is missing. Currently, I am collecting the LotR and Hobbit sets. I like to morph thinks and rarely keep the items built more than twice. (hence losing a lot of the pieces from the original sets).

I like Microsoft, especially their new server and desktop platforms, but the new console is not that great. I have Xbox original, it was better than PS2 back then, and a PS3. I will probably get a PS4 if I have the time for games/entertainment.

21011 Brandenburg Gate (Architecture, the older models). I am going to try to collect these alongside LotR and Hobbit if funds allow it.

Hiya, can you please invite me as well? I have about 5+ sets right now and am ordering more. I'll do a review or two as well before that so hopefully I can learn to improve. -
I was looking for some instructions of a Pirates set I had as a child. If I knew about this community earlier I would have joined. I also found about Brickset at the same time.

I took the easy route. I told my wife before we even married that I like LEGO. I tried to get her to build with me, but she is not into it. She does think it's "childish" still I guess :D

Rock Hill, SC, USA (near Charlotte, NC). Anybody in the area :) ?

I feel the same. I only have 2 from pirates that I remember, the Brig and 1 more with the red boat and monkey. Maybe they are two separate and I had 3 sets. I can't remember as I was 3-4 back then. I'll try to find the parts so I can post a thread and get some opinions.

This review brought back child memories. My parents bought me this when I was 3 or 4. It was quite expensive in Eastern Europe at the time (early 90s). I always built various structures and thus lost many parts. I retain about 2/3 of this set from what I can see. Many parts are chewed up as well . I have the odd parts, however: the door, the parrot, the corner and the base. The rest seems easily replaceable. Looking forward to build this one again to bring back child memories.

Amazon has some pretty good prices already. For example, a set of LotR I got was $83 (pretax) at Toys R Us, $75 (pretax) at Target, $70 (pretax) at Walmart, [out of curiosity Meijer $70 (pre tax)], and $55 (no tax, free shipping) at Amazon. I do have Prime, however, so that may also be a factor.
