I actually really like this set. From a book/movie point of view its lacking proper coloration, but piece selection-wise, its actually pretty good. And is this set confirmed to be over $100? If so, I'll probably wait awhile for the price to drop. (I would guess most of that goes to Smaug and the Sand Green pieces. I was never clear on that, is he actually red in the movies and was covered in gold dust or something? (I know he was red in the book) I vaguely recall a part of the book similar to what's shown in the movie poster where the dust comes off in the water.

The set itself: great. The price: not so great. Personally, I don't have a solid opinion. I'm not that big of a Lego SW fan, but having more tan pieces certainly would be nice. But that price... Also, MTV? Wut... (Do they usually have SDCC coverage?)

I'd say the AAA box as well. As its cheaper, and, as Fred67 mentioned, you can use rechargeable AAA batteries. (Found a charger for $29.99 including batteries. ) -

I'd say my favorite is the Rancor, and my second being the Hulk. (Please no arguments on the following. That belongs in the Super Heroes 2014 Rumours & Discussion thread ) As for a bigfig I'd like to see, and one that's probably a legititmate possibility, would be the Hulkbuster.
