Jebediahs

(my original EB minifigure)

A mystical viking-like being living in the LEGO FANTASY/CASTLE theme. His magical rock arms grant him the strength of two minifigs! Jeb has a short teleport ability and is able to shape-shift into troll form.

THE WORLD OF HEROICA RPG: - Join the fun!

Comment to bring Crometheus to Heroica!

Rules to join Heroica!

QM Style:

  • Quests take place in a short amount of in-game time. Ex. a day, an evening, a few hours etc.
  • Quests have at least one instance offering each player to make use of their job traits.
  • Quests will never be conducted in PMs. It's a cool idea but I barely check my PMs as it is.
  • Each quest brings something never before seen into the game
    • Quest 12 - Enemy profile pics and dialog during battle, SP on enemies
    • Quest 35 - Aerial Lift Challenge, Hastened Enemy, Ether on enemies, AI on enemies
    • Quest ?? - ???

[*]For the most part NPCs have generic names.

[*]5-man party dynamic reminiscent of the first five X-Men.

[*]Despises Out of Character comments even necessary ones.

[*]Heavily roleplays/describes at least one round of combat per battle. Eases up to let the players describe the results of their character's actions.

[*]Attempts to drain his players' inventory reserves. I don't care about this anymore.

[*]Drops at least one item per quest that will be beneficial to have in his next quest. Quest 12 dropped the Paper Doll (Hex Immunity, accessory) and Quest 35 heavily featured enemies with the Hex ability (even if they didn't use the special often). Quest 35 dropped the Aspira Necklace (Grants underwater breathing and SP:9 vs. Aquatic Monsters, accessory) which will be beneficial in an upcoming quest.

[*]Not many sets built. Sorry, I suck.

    [*]Photography quality is lacking.

Player Style:

  • Reactive. Prefers to see how things play out then reacts accordingly. For instance, will sometimes purposely follow bad commands or doesn't like to suggest battle targets for other players. If their action causes the battle to fail then so be it! How else will they learn if they don't make their own mistakes. There's a greater chance for another mirror battle scenario if you'd just let other players play.
  • Expects teammates to anticipate his actions. Ex. If he causes an enemy to become confused with a /roll 4, he will change target without word expecting another player to pick up the confused target.
  • Prefers to collect interesting artifacts as opposed to ones that directly increase his power.
  • Will never use a gemmed weapon. Will pay to de-gem one if one is in his possession.
  • Thinks beneficial scrolls are a necessary game mechanic.
  • Likes to fully immerse himself in the story with little OoC communication between players and the QM. OoCs detract from the experience especially when reading/rereading the quest after it's been completed.
  • Will not interact with players who post excessive OoCs to explain actions.
  • Doesn't have a need to give grand speeches to be an effective role player.
  • Joker sums it up best, "Do I really look like a guy with a plan? You know what I am? I’m a dog chasing cars. I wouldn’t know what to do with one if I caught it. You know, I just… do things...I’m not a schemer. I try to show the schemers how pathetic their attempts to control things really are."

Biography

En Sabah Nur never had a true place to call home thanks to his father's profession. His dad was a thief so when he'd overstayed his welcome, he'd pack up Nur and they'd move to the next town. After many years they settled with an orc tribe and Nur was lucky enough to spend four consecutive years in one location. He grew up participating in the orc rites of passage and showed an affinity towards their "natural" magics. Out of nature's elements, Nur excelled at earthen spells. His father was proud and sought to take advantage of his son's ability by applying it to the thieving discipline so moved them again. Nur learned what he could from his father and from magic users he encountered along the way until he decided to reform himself and join Heroica.

Characterization

En Sabah Nur is a Lawful Neutral mage specializing in Earth magic. He does not seek to be the most powerful mage on the planet especially through the collection of all elemental gems (he'd rather sell them). Nur's specialty lies in the creative use of the spells he knows best in order to accomplish tasks and defeat opponents. Nur does have a curiosity for magical items and a high level of respect for magical creatures. Despite his frail constitution, he is quite capable in close-quarters melee combat. A serious character, En Sabah Nur has a small trickster living within.

Characterization Extra:
Nur often adopted the accent of the community of which he was currently present in order to fit in better and faster as he moved from place to place. Now when speaking, Nur sometimes slips into a dwarven or orcish accent.

Characterization Extra:
Due to the length of time he spent with orcs as a youth, Nur has a difficult time distinguishing between elven (the natural enemies of orcs) characters.

Mage (Levels 1-15)

esn_q06.jpg

Mage is Nur's base class. He joined Heroica Hall with a garnet and spent most of his time using it as his sole gem.

Items of Note: Sangriste Dagger (WP:5), Stealth Dagger (WP:12), Loaded Die (Lucky effect, Accessory), Thorny Diadem (Power +3 but Max. Health -6), Garnet, Aquamarine, Scroll of Sealing, Scroll of Blindness, Scroll of Confusion

Sorcerer (Levels 15-18)

esn_q18.jpg

Nur trained as a sorcerer in order to satiate his desire to manipulate his opponents. Another reason for this selection was his urge to steal was becoming overpowering. Nur sought to focus his vice and steal from those who deserved it.

Items of Note: Traveler's Cloak (SP:1, Backwear), Baby Phoenix

Battle Mage (Levels 18-19)

esn_q43a.jpg

Jeb's favorite mage class since its creation. Unfortunately he committed to trying all the mage classes available.

Items of Note: Quarterstaff (double WP vs. Humanoids), Sealed Heavy Armour of Brilliance (SP:5, Immune to Sealed, Blind, Fragile, Bodywear)

Sage (Levels 19 - 26)

esn_sage.jpg

Nur spent time away from Heroica meditating in Triad Park. Seeking to rid himself of the rock covered arm, he chose the healing class. Because of his intense meditation sessions which lasted forever, Nur's body became weak so he was uncomfortable engaging in melee combat.

Items of Note: Topaz, Ruby, Aqua Gear, Medal of Glory (Grants experience of three battles, Accessory)

Evoker (Levels 15, 26-31)

ico_evoker.jpg

Nur studied briefly as an evoker and managed to produce a summon with his garnet and aquamarine.

  • Pet Rock - A small boulder that obeys Nur's every command. Has the demeanor of a loyal hound. In Quest #43 Nur discovers its personality is tied to his garnet. Some of the mage's character has been absorbed into the gem. Skall'dyr - A demonic humanoid crab brought forth from a hellish watery plane. Does not appreciate being ripped from his home. Skall'dyr does respect the power Nur has over him but struggles against the mage's commands at every turn.

He later returned to the profession after much meditation. All his summons are earth/rock/stone based. Earthen Shield, Emerald the Rockling, Chidoris Obelisk, B.A.S.H. are summons.

Items of Note: Lichen Armour (Converts ether to health, Bodywear), Sedge Hat (+4 ether, Headwear), Alfred (Nur can call his golem minion once per battle to protect him from all damage and effects for the remainder of the round.)

Beast Warrior (Level 32)

esn_bw1.jpgesn_bw4.jpgesn_bw3.jpgesn_bw0.jpg

In an attempt at mimicing the transformation techniques of the Wolfgang w/o proper training, Nur got himself stuck in beast form. In quest, Nur began combat as a human instead of in animal form despite the Beast Warrior class description making no mention of the class working in this manner. Killed Jeb's roleplay fun and was the beginning of his w/drawal from the game.

Items of Note:   None.

Mystic Knight (Levels 31, 33 - Present)

mk004.jpg

Nur's earthen shield remains by the mage's side, floating in to protect him from damage while Nur uses both hands to hold his quarterstaff.

Items of Note: Alfred (Nur can call his golem minion once per battle to protect him from all damage and effects for the remainder of the round.),  Warforged Alfred (Nur can call his golem minion twice per battle to protect him from all damage and effects for the remainder of the round or once per battle to protect him and another party member from all damage and effects for the remainder of the round.), Wolf King's Seals (+3 Power, Grants Intimidation)

Weapons and Artifacts

heroica-loadeddice.jpgLoaded Die - suitable for anyone, permanent lucky-effect to the owner, allowing them to roll the battle die twice and get the better result of the two); Nur acquired this item during Quest#6 in the sewer. He had no idea what the item actually did but after his arm was encased in stone and considering the previous owner of the die starved to death in a trap, Nur feared his luck was coming to an end so passed the item on to Sarick Lanse.

esn_thornydiadem.jpgThorny Diadem - (suitable for anyone, +3 to power, but -6 to maximum health); This crown was entrusted to Nur at the end of Quest#10. The initial application on his head caused tendrils of pain to shoot through his body. Nur almost collapsed the first time he put it on. Over time Nur became used to the pain and wore the helm for a longer period of time. He found that he experienced frequent headaches the longer he wore the helm which affected his combat decision-making in Quest#18. Unsure if the pain associated with the crown was due to him being unworthy, Nur sought to get rid of it. He successfully sold it to Lord Boomingham. The item currently resides in the Marketplace.

esn_helmet.jpgHelmet - (suitable for anyone, Health + 1); A helmet from an animated suit of armor in Quest#10. Nur passed the helmet off to the druid Slyph in Quest#43.

heroica-heavyarmor.jpgSealed Heavy Armour of Brilliance - (SP:5,Immune: fragile, blinded, sealed effects, suitable for barbarians); Armor bought from the Marketplace then enhanced with scrolls.

6894110346_670756a385_m.jpgTraveler's Cloak - (SP: 1, Suitable for all classes, Backwear); A cloak purchased from Swisshopper Cloaks and Fineries. Was tailored to appear tattered per Nur's request in quest #28.

esn_sangriste.jpgSangriste - (suitable for rogues and mages, WP:5); A dagger Nur entered the Hall with.

esn_stealthdagger.jpgStealth Dagger - (suitable for rogues and mages, WP:12); A dagger Nur picked up during Quest#18.

esn_en.jpgEn, Sabah, Nur - (suitable for rogues and rangers, WP:5); Three throwing stars that serve as backup weapons in case Nur is ever sealed or low on ether.

heroica-lichenarmour.jpg Lichen Armour - The wearer’s ether is counted as additional health if health is depleted; suitable to classes with ether; bodywear. Made another trade with Sarick Lanse for this item.

heroica-quarterstaff.jpgQuarterstaff - WP:4/8 against humanoid enemies; suitable for mages, clerics and necromancers. Picked up in Quest #43.

ico_garnet1.jpg  Earthy Wooden Shield (SP:6, grants immunity to wood and earth-elemental attacks) .

heroicaquest100-alfred.jpgheroicaquest100-alfred2.jpgAlfred - Nur can call his golem minion once per battle to protect him from all damage and effects for the remainder of the round. Quest #100.

20958897820_f4432c59ef_t.jpgesn_bw2.jpg  Warforged Alfred - Nur can call his golem minion twice per battle to protect him from all damage and effects for the remainder of the round or once per battle to protect him and another party member from all damage and effects for the remainder of the round. Alfred takes on a metallic/mythril sheen when ability is in use. Quest #132.

Other

babyphoenix.jpgBaby Phoenix - Nur acquired this little companion at the end of Quest#18. Fortunately it will grow into a gorgeous adult. Nur didn't spend much time with the bird and sold it to the evoker, Alexis.

Spell List

Shield (Mage) - (Garnet) Meteor Storm, large boulders rain from the sky. (Aquamarine) Hydro spray, water sprays from caster's hand with such force it cuts and bruises targets.

Shield (Sorcerer) - (Garnet) Earthquake, shakes the earth below enemies (Aquamarine) Water Fall, the sky opens up above targets and unleashes a heavy gush of water pinning targets to the ground.

Hit - (Garnet) Earth Shard, Throws clump of earth at target. (Aquamarine) Lesser Hydro Blast, stream of water shot at target.

Miss(Sorcerer) -(Garnet/Aquamarine) Confusion, miniscule pieces of earth/water harmlessly coat the occipital lobes distorting target's retinal sensory information causing a slight hallucination effect.

Arena: W: 3 | L: 0

  • Win - Durkon vs. En Sabah Nur; Challenger = Durkon - If Durkon could last three rounds he'd get Nur's Scroll of Confusion for free.
  • Win - Lord Lawrence Boomingham vs. En Sabah Nur; Challenger = ESN - ESN was looking for instruction in close combat with blades from the venerable king. Originally Nur was going to be unable to see paladins' angelic companions...He's never acknowledged or intereacted with with one so this RP element might continue or I may forget it.
  • Win - Alf vs. En Sabah Nur; Challenger = ESN - Jebediahs' concerns about scrolls being too powerful were ignored so he took the opportunity to use a scroll where he knew it'd generate more complaints. The scroll mechanics were changed to 50/50 chance of success upon use.

History in the Hall

Part 1: Mage

En Sabah Nur entered Heroica Hall amid arguing heroes (link) just before the participants for the first three quests were chosen. A chicken was running rampant throughout the Hall. Nur collected hair from the party leaders for a spell of scrying so that he could monitor the progress of each quest (link).

An ogre with a bow crafted from the bones of a large beast entered the Hall. His name was Skrall (Waterbrick Down) and he was conversing with an orc named Grush. Having an affinity for orcs he introduced himself to the duo. After retelling their backstories, Grush proposed going off on an adventure. Nur left to prepare and was unable to find the orc upon his return. During his search he ran into some thugs (link).

Quote

"I hope Scheherazade doesn't sweep that up."

esn_profile001.jpg

En Sabah Nur uses a sound stone to monitor the happenings in the Hall.

Nur then sought to track down the darkness mage, Cinna the Dark (darkdragon) in an attempt to learn about the power of amethyst gems. Unfortunately she took off on an adventure. Nur and Skrall are passed over for a quest again (link) and the mage briefly discusses his past encounter with darkness magic (link). The duo are finally chosen for Quest #6: WANTED: Donny Dozenhands (Sandy) along with the cleric Haldor (Scorpiox). With a few days to prepare, En Sabah Nur spent some time researching the basic abilities all rangers and clerics should know. It was around this time he met the ancient knight Lord Boomingham (link).

The Town Watch hired the trio to capture a thief. The companions baited Donny with a ruse and tracked him into the sewers. Upon reaching him the thief proposed a deal to the party for his freedom. The party accepted and returned to an angry Town Watch commander.

Upon returning to the Hall Nur was shocked by a strange living skeleton claiming to be a hero (link). Curious as to how such a thing was animated, Nur questioned a fellow mage, the aeromancer Arasmyth (Kadabra). Both mages inquired at the library for more information. Another ridiculous character soon caught the mage's attention with an absurd stunt (link). Nur signed up for a new quest hoping to never see the barbarian Alf (Bricksandparts) again. (link).

Nur has a peculiar encounter with the fervent cleric, Maurice (Etzel) (link) before rejoining Skrall and Arasmyth. The trio were joined by half Mopagian Elf Dak Shadeaux (Darth Nihilus). Soon after Nur departed for #10: Extra-Curricular Activities (Sandy)with cleric Maurice, ranger Erdathcath (The_Customizer), and the attention-starved barbarian Alf (Bricksandparts).

The heroes were tasked with stopping some school vandals. The party struggled through the academy but were ultimately successful. Nur acquired a diamond but believed he was only successful with its magic due to his proximity to the cleric Maurice so he handed it over Ennoc's favored son.

Nur also acquired the dangerous Thorny Diadem and decided to wear it (link). Coping with the pain, En Sabah Nur makes a secretive deal with the naga, Sarick (Xarrzan). The naga accepts gold in exchange for naga techniques for reading scrolls.

The mage tries to exchange his aquamarine for another gem but is denied (link). He signs up for a Ziegfried quest in the hopes they'll be able to instruct him in the use of the element he is weakest in using (link). Unfortunately, Nur is passed over once again so decides to seek out Gurnam the sharkling after hearing about his special services (link). During his search, En Sabah Nur again runs into Sarick and hands him a Healing Staff because the Heroica RPG community wanted to see it in action (link). Nur looks out over the harbor and thinks of his friends (link).

Jess and Haldor get lovey dovey (for a couple of pages before Nur's response) and are scheduled to quest with Skrall which Nur finds hilarious (link).

To be continued...

Game Extras:

Primary Character Progression: Mage - Sorcerer - Battle Mage - Sage - Evoker - Mystic Knight - ??? :P

Secondary Character Progression: Ranger - Assassin - Cannoneer

Favorite Heroica RPG Class: Minstrel

Favorite Heroica RPG NPCs: The Crimson Reaper, Gurnam the Sharkling, Ratabor Mossycloak

Least Favorite Heroica RPG NPCs: The Szalinskis (I'm done with them!) PSYCH!

Favorite Heroica RPG Quests: Quest 6 (story, builds, minigame/puzzle, short length); Quest 27 (enemies, builds, QM formatting techniques); Quest 28 (story, builds, minigames/puzzles, fights, npcs); Quest 34 (minigame idea since players refused to play it -_- , builds, npcs)

Favorite Heroica Moments:

  • "When Thothwick was imprisoned for the majority of his first quest, quest#7. Reminds me of when Beast was captured at the end of episode 1/beginning of episode 2 of season 1 of X-Men The Animated Series and he was jailed for the rest of the season. I was so mad about that in the 90s but I laugh now."
  • The SP/DEFENSE and Free Hit debate. Begins to spark around around here, skips a page or two before getting going again.
  • Side quest in Quest28 where Waterbrick Down was first to feature enemies with unknown stats until they were attacked. Forgot to comment on that in the lounge...
  • When Sandy told Tanma that Dekra was unwelcome on his quests due to the char's propensity to overtake/whelm a quest with roleplay. Moment was ruined by Dekra's acceptance to Quest 44.
  • Any time Scubacarrot cries about something in game until he gets his way. S'very amusing. Must catalog all instances later.
  • Khorne and JimB doing their first three quests together was cool.
  • The amount of OoC and IC chaos Zepher's Chaos in Eubric special of Quest53 caused. Just play the game, people! Special paraphrased description: "QM does whatever he wants at the end of each round." - GENIUS!
  • It's about time. Of course if I said this it would be considered a personal attack.
  • Yup. Player Knowledge vs Character Knowledge!

Particularly Lame Heroica RPG Moment:

  • {Roleplay}Whenever a PC addresses another they don't know, by their class. How the hell can you tell the difference between a mage, sage, sorcerer etc. or what type of fighter a player is? The only chars rp-wise you can tell by sight are Tesni (she looks like a zerker), Docken (shield + bow), maybe druids in green robes, alchemists in lab coats and black knights wearing the black knight armour.
  • Any time a new player complains about no quests to go on. I was passed over 5 times before I was chosen for my first quest and Bricksandparts had to wait til quest 10 before his first adventure.
  • When QM Zepher and PL WaterBrickDown changed Xarrzan's character's legal action simply because they disagreed with it in round 2 of the final battle of Quest 30
  • The time that guy quit the game because someone told him magic (even in a game) was against their religion.
  • On the day I came back to Heroica RPG, I was falsely accused of using two EB accounts by not only the game manager but by players as well then threatened to be exposed to the site admins. Thanks guys. S'like the Jedi Order not trusting Ahsoka Tano to do the right thing. Now Tano can't trust the Order...
  • Lies from Cutcobra when he said he'd never seen my warlock proposal after proposing a similar class when only five posts down from my original proposal he commented on it.
  • Any time a player says one+ of the advanced classes available to their character doesn't fit their character. That's lazy roleplaying; there is nothing that says the advanced classes have to be a 50-50 split of equal parts from each class. You can roleplay your char 99% of one class and 1% the other that makes up the advanced class.

Things I'd like to see in game but lack the ability/time to do myself:

  • Animation - Stop motion cut-scenes, boss speeches, the final blow being dealt etc.
  •

Character Concept: En Sabah Nur is named after Apocalypse (the first mutant) in the Marvel Universe. He's a combination of Batman, Jarlaxle and myself. Bats and Jarlaxe in that he's not the physically strongest in his universe yet he's always prepared with a trick up his sleeve (gadgets/items). Both utilize guile and don seemingly foolish demeanors to hide their incredibly brilliant minds. Myself for other personality traits. His look comes from the Maa'ri Rogue and powers from the Maa'ri Mage as those characters were created long ago for a comic idea that went nowhere.

DID YOU KNOW?: Jeb's first character was originally going to be a lawful good orc knight but Cronk took care of that so Nur came along.

Actor to Play En Sabah Nur: Peter Mensah

Theme Song: Toss up between "Chaiyya Chaiyaa" by A. R. Rahman and "Tunak Tunak Tun" by Daler Mehndi.

CLASS PROPOSALS

I believe the only class I want(ed) to see accepted was the Puppeteer...and maybe Botanist. The rest were more a display of possible game mechanics and NPC classes.
Aeromancer - A mage class (Sapphire (Wind)) that boosts allies.
Archivist - Converted from a Scholar class I was developing that I threw out to the public before I abandoned it.
Bainshee - Based on the Bainshee class from Dark Age of Camelot.
Botanist - Based on the Animist class from Dark Age of Camelot and centered around the Emerald (Wood) gem.
Calculator - A joke proposal based on the Arithmetician class  from Final Fantasy.
Cryomancer - Pet class. Opal (Ice).
Dancer - Class proposed and lost during a server swap. Proposed again and given the Wolf King Followers requirement.
Geomancer - Mage class (Garnet (Earth)) that grants SP. Tortures rocklings as a function of it's SHIELD skill lol.
Harlot - A joke proposal that became an actual class.
Heretic - A healer class idea that wasn't fully developed. A portion of damage dealt heals party members. Based upon the Heretic class from Dark Age of Camelot.
Hydromancer - A class centered around the Aquamarine (Water) gem and counter to a mechanic I'd abandoned requiring special actions to be performed in order to maintain breath under water.
Illuminator - A  mage class. Diamond (Light).
Ivy's Juggernaut - Class that incorporates PC's SP into damage calculations. An upgrade from Poison Ivy's Juggernaut proposal.
Mage Hunter - Attempt at an Alliance-based class. Requires membership with the Crescent Union
Oneiromancer - Mage/pet class, Amethyst (Darkness). Warlock is probably a better fit for the darkness gem but whatever...
Puppeteer - Inspired by Kankoro from the Naruto anime series.
Psion - Attempt at an Alliance-based class. A mage that uses health instead of ether for "spells" making these mages effectively immune to the sealed effect. Requires membership with the Sungold Alliance.
Pyromancer - Class inspired by PC Nyx's Ruby (Fire) affinity with elements of Warhammer's Bright Wizard. Some believe this could have served as inspiration for the weather mage. This was the first class that led to me making classes focused around the gems.
Rager - Class inspired by PC Tesni and the multitude of weapons she regularly employs in battles.
Shieldmage - A variation of mystic knight. I like mystic but prefer these changes...
Shockmaster - A mage class (Topaz (Lightning)).
Skald - Class created primarily for the proposal of the requirement "Play through 5 quests as x class". Based upon the Skald class from Dark Age of Camelot. Didn't continue with the requirement idea after the Veteran classes emerged with their "Open to Original (Class)" requirements.
Templar - Essentially an offensive paladin, it trades the ability to heal for command over devastating light damage. Some elements of the class were deemed "overpowered" yet now appear in approved classes.
Time Thief - Heroica RPG adaptation of the Pathfinder's Time Thief.
Tinkerer - An alternate option to the Engineer proposals going on at the time. Considered the name "Tinker" and "Tinkerer-er".
Tosser - Post lost in latest server swap.
Warlock - Another idea that wasn't fully developed so proposed for input from others. Based on the Warlock class from World of Warcraft back when summoning a certain demon required a party member to be sacrificed.
Zealot - Mage whose power is based on number of enemies present.
