    Harry Potter 2011 Discussion

Only the castle?; the Forbidden Forest set was also in the advert and the boxes for both were shown at the end. (By the way, I think it's a pretty cool little commercial)

    [REVIEW] 7959 Geonosian Starfighter

Solid review, good job done with it. As for my opinions on the set, I like that it's bigger than the old version but I can't help but feeling that it actually feels kinda boring despite having three nice minifigs.

Best and Worst ideas for PoTC sets

I really like the idea of a Dutchman Crew and a Cursed Crew battlepacks, but really; six minifigs for that price?, it seems very unlikely considering the licensed battle packs contains at max four minifigs (there was five in the Star Wars assassin droid pack and seven in the battle droid pack, but that's because those figs are cheaper to produce).

    REVIEW: 7957 Sith Nightspeeder

Yeah, I know that and that's what the big problem of the set is (in my opinion), but I'm glad at least the normal 'beak' wedges are printed.

    REVIEW: 7957 Sith Nightspeeder

Really good review of this set, def. The speeder has too many stickers for my taste (I never apply the stickers on my sets) but it has a pretty interesting design. As for the minifigures, they look great so I am pretty sure I will get it mostly for them (I haven't got a Clone Wars Anakin or Ventress yet and Opress looks really cool so it's all the more reason for me to buy it).

LEGO Star Wars 2011 Pictures & Rumors

I have seen the set once before but that time the picture wasn't in such good quality unlike this time; thanks for posting. It looks pretty cool and I really like the minifigure selection; also, I am not really a buyer of big sets but I think I will try to get this one (I hope it will eventually be available on Shop At Home).

    How to Train Your Dragon

Wow, great work on all of these; the minifigs are really nicely done but it is the dragons who are the stars here and they look fantastic. Can't pick a certain favorite of them since they are all so cool and true to the movie.
  8. Congrats to the lucky winners!. I forgot to vote but I'm not sad that I missed it; there were a lot of great entries and I guess the ones that won were the best of the best. And to be honest, the one that got 1st place was probably my favorite of them all; love that croc.
  9. Wow, very nice work done with this entry; both the boat and the hovercraft look really cool and I love the giant crocodile, good luck in the contest with this fine set.
  10. (Warning!: This is a pic heavy topic) I was out yesterday and in one store I noticed that some of the new SW sets for 2010 were out already. Today I went to that store again and got my hands on the Rebel Trooper Battle Back which I will be reviewing now in my second review. (The pics are a little better than the ones in my previous review but I think that some of them look a bit odd.) Set Name: Rebel Trooper Battle Back Set Number: 8083 Theme: Star Wars Year Released: 2010 Number of Pieces: 79 Minifigs: 4 Price: $14.99 The Review So this is my first 2010 set and I was lucky to finally get my hands on one, I picked this one over the Snowtrooper one because I thought that this one looked a bit more interesting. To start things off, here's some pics of the box: Front: Back: The back of the box reveals that the rebel pilot indeed is Zev Senesca and not a random pilot. I believe that this is the first time a named and more prominent character is in a battle pack: Top: Left Side (On which you can see an ESB 30th anniversary logo with Yoda on it): Here are the pieces in their bags: And here they are loose and in a pile: The front page of the instruction manual has the same art as the box: And a random page from it, showing the construction of the Ice Cutter: Two more pics of the contents of the manual (the latter showing some of the other sets in the early 2010 wave): Here's a front and then back view of the four minifigures with their weapons (The printing on Zev's torso is new of what I can tell and as you can see below, it also has a printed back): The helmet of the troopers is a new mold and it's great that it's more movie accurate; however they look a bit bulky on the figs and sits a bit too far up on their heads as the above pics shows: And now on to the Ice Cutter which I think is a nice speeder-type vehicle; it's bulky, rather sturdy and most of all canon to the movies (despite that scene it was in was cut). There is flick-fire missiles at it's sides and they look quite good on the set in my opinion, but they aren't really needed: There is a gray box placed in the hatch infront of the cannon and it can easily be slid out. It reminds me of the compartment box in the first Snowspeeder set: The biggest piece in the set is this one which is the one in the middle of the Ice Cutter and also the piece the chair sits on: The leftover parts: Conclusion Design: 7/10 - I don't know how many shares my opinion but I really like the design of the Ice Cutter, now matter how the back of it looks; it's definitely one of the better battle pack vehicles out there. Parts: 7/10 - The set has a really good selection of parts and the big grey one (pictured above) is a great and classic piece which I haven't seen in years. Build: 7/10 - The build of the vehicle isn't that hard, but it's not to be expected of such a set. The build is quite interesting if I may say so. Minifigs: 8/10 - Cool minifigs, despite that the Hoth trooper helmets looks a little odd when the soldiers are wearing them. Zev is definitely my favorite of the bunch. Playability: 6/10 - Perhaps not that fun to play with on it's own (but hey, which battle pack is?) but if you have other Hoth sets including Imperials, like the Snowtrooper battle pack, it's most likely a lot more fun. Price: 7/10 - Standard battle pack price, it could of course be a bit lower but it doesn't matter since the pieces and the minifigures are worth it. Overall: 8/10 - It's a really nice little set; there's really nice minifigs and an equally nice vehicle in one package. It would look great displayed next to a set such as the Echo Base trench set from this year and that's probably what i'm gonna do with it.
  11. Wow, that's a very nicely done little village. It does look like a set Lego would sell and as said, it isn't too complex either; good luck in the contest with this great creation.

Review: 7929 The Battle of Naboo

Very nice review of a solid set; I've been the owner of the set since late December and I am still very satisfied with it, especially since it comes with twelve minifigs and a nicely designed troop carrier speeder; all for a reasonable price.

General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread

In my opinion, the POTC theme is a definitive winner; several nice new pieces and cool minifigs in practically every set. I will get the three smallest ones (Captain's Cabin, Fountain Of Youth and Isla De Muerta) since they really pull me towards them or so to say; they are affordable, comes with nicely detailed minifigs and they just look cool. I just wish May could come sooner so I can finally lay my hands on them

    Harry Potter 2011 Discussion

I am not a big HP fan but these sets all look really nice, like last year's sets (I own Dobby's Release and Quidditch Practice). I will be getting the Forbidden Forest mostly since it'll be a cheap way of getting Hagrid and Voldemort, but that Narcissa minifig looks pretty cool too; as for the tree, it can easily double as an Endor tree

LEGO Star Wars 2011 Pictures & Rumors

I like the looks of the new sets a lot; for the moment, the only one I am sure that I will buy is Ewok Attack since I like ewoks and that "attack tree" looks pretty cool. Still, I think it should have included one or two stormtroopers, but either way, I think it'll go well along with the old Ewok Attack set and the Battle of Endor AT-ST, both of which I have in a nearby drawer.

    Pharaoh's Quest 2011

First off, I must say that Pharaoh's Quest is one of my most anticipated upcoming Lego themes; it seems like lots of fun and even though it is not the return of Johnny Thunder, it still looks like a great theme. Now on to my question: Has there been any rumors of any impulse sets for the theme?; we've gotten impulse sets for all major and new Lego themes lately (Atlantis and Kingdoms for instance) so it would be strange if they didn't release a couple for this new adventure theme.

    Entrance to Khelduran

Really impressive and large MOC; great work done with it. I love the snow effect, it gives gives the MOC a lot more life.

    Prince of Persia 2010

All these PoP sets truly looks interesting and they seem like a good replacement of the Indiana Jones line. I look forward to a review of the Desert Attack set which looks like a set i'd get.

    Dwarves Mine Machine

    Earlier I got my hands on an extra 7040 Dwarves Mine Defender (mostly for the figs but also for the pieces) and I thought of building something using only the limited number of pieces from that set and this is the final result of the idea I got; a mine digger machine that kinda reminds me of an medieval version of Power Miners-type vehicle when I look at it (it's been over an week since it's construction but I still have it assembled): The roof can also be opened up: Other than just pointing straight forward: the whole front part can go both up and down: It rolls nicely on softer and more bumpy surfaces like beds or sofas but not so good on flat surfaces like floors, but it's after all a mining machine This is something extra that I assembled from the leftover pieces; a simple catapult on wheels and a new weapon for one of the trolls (the third jagged blade is supposed to be theobject that can be launched by the catapult but it's not present on the pic and I can't seem to find it at the moment): Please tell me what you think of the creation;
  20. Really nice review of a great set that is one of the coolest-looking Alpha Team sets, at least in my opinion.

    Dwarves Mine Machine

It cant drive forward on a flat surface with the front part pointing up, but it can if be driven forward on a bumby surface that has a slight "hill" (like up a pillow under a sheet) if the front part points up just one notch.

    New Eyes!

I don't really mind the eyes of the current minifigs; both the old ones without dots and the new ones with dots are fine. The change haven't bothered me at all and i'm a little surprised to see that some complain about them.

    Dwarves Mine Machine

Yes, I used all pieces except for four; the third grey jagged blade-thing, the flag of the banner and two of the small tan technic pins.

REVIEW: 8083 Rebel Trooper Battle Pack

The reason for the higher points is because i'm interpreting the point system differently that most of you others; for example to me; 1/10 means "awful", 5/10 is "mediocre" and 10/10 is "fantastic".

REVIEW: 8083 Rebel Trooper Battle Pack

Great review with equally great pics; I have to say that they are even better than the pics in my review.
