Review: 10193 Medieval Market Village
ziljin replied to I Scream Clone's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
The TRU website has it listed. I am not sure if I saw it when I was last there. And amazon.com has it as well. I live in the U.S. if it matters. I was surprised too. Seeing how it says its exclusive on the lego website. -
I am missing too many pieces to rebuild any of my childhood sets. Plus I can't even identify what sets they belong to. Hopefully this time around, I will take much better care of my Lego pieces.

I like Power Miners (well mostly the minifigs), but I don't like the Crystal King. The weapon looks awesome though. A giant monster doesn't seem that appealing to me. This will probably be the only cheap Power Miners set I will skip. I will probably also skip the Command Rig and Minining Station (too expensive for my tastes). I will probably buy tons of the smaller sets just for the minifigs though.

Looks pretty amazing. Do you intend on having statues of the egyptian gods too?

I haven't played with Duplo with a long time, if not ever (don't remember if my childhood big bricks were duplo or megablocks). They are compatible with regular Lego pieces? Aren't they huge? -
Amazing castle. About the tan/green bricks. I am assuming you added them to stop it from being too mono colored. How did you determine what color would go well with the castle?

To the guy who has 12 of these. You must have a ton of disposable income. Or no other hobbies you spend money on. I hope one day I can afford to spend that kind of money on Lego. I think I will go pick this up at TRU if they don't have Castle's Siege/Troll Mountain Fortress. -

Granite Grinder and Mine Mech modifications
ziljin replied to ziljin's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Well that is intentional. The only protection they need are their helmets and their machine guns. Plus I didn't have any room for the roll cages. -
Wish they had some sort of special order system from discontinued sets.

That's pretty awesome. I like the skeletons, webs, and gear lying around. Nicely detailed. If you could do something like the Siege of Gondor, that would be cool. Specifically in the city walls.

Thanks. I figured I should try making something out of the sets before putting them all in my brick collection for future MOCs. I also did the same for my Dozer and tried doing the same for my Mine Mech and Granite Grinder. But the Mine Mech and Granite Grinder are far too small, so I ended up only making minor modifications (I basically added machine guns). Taking pics will allow me to sort of recreate them in the future if I feel like it.

Took a Dwarven Mine Defender set and made something else with the bricks. Started with the catapult base then just played around until I got this. Close up on drills Side View Close up on Orc driver armed with spear for combat after eventual breach of enemy walls. Zombie Dwarf operating the drill bit. A prisoner of war being dragged around. A better view. Basically the leftover minifig pieces. Feel free to post C/C.

And knock it down another level.

Why Power Miners is better than Rock Raiders
ziljin replied to Zarkan's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I like the minifigs, and the lime green, while for the theme is great. But to me it gives off more of a contruction type feel. Or advanced aliens with neon colored tech. I am more of a fan of earthy colored and medieval to modern type tech. But I will buy more. Since I intend on making alieny type mocs later on. -

By the time I could afford this set, it will probably be discontinued. Well I could afford it now, but spending 100USD on a single set? I don't even have the room to display it. And I would probably just tear it apart for MOCs. But that is a lot of pieces. If I bought it for the bricks alone, it would probably be worth the price. -
I like the tanks and jeeps. Military moc's always interest me.

I bought 3 Gold Heists off of Amazon.com Pretty useful bricks, and nice minifigs. But the actual build is somewhat unsatisfactory. It's a bit flimsy since half of the parts just move around freely. And there are no side windows to protect the pilot from the vaccums of space lol. Not that its a bad buy or anything. But don't expect much if you are just straight building it.

I bought a second Dozer kit with the purpose of making it into a tank. Using only bricks found in the Dozer set. and here are the results. Used white paper for semi professional look. The treads and base is about 90+% the same as the Dozer, then the rest I just played around with until I got a suitable look. The only parts I planned out were the side skirts. Unforunately, there aren't enough yellow plates to cover the whole tank in armor. The giant rear plate is to cover the internal uglyiness. Front 3/4 view Bird's Eye View Back 3/4 View Close up on rear skirt Side View Rotating weapon sponsons. Just added the antenna in to add more detail. Although not sure what it really looks like. Seems too small to be weapons. Here is a shot of the bottom. Not too man long plates in this set, so I used 4 longest on the bottom, and connected smaller plates at the top to support the side skirts.

Looks great. Like the minidioramas. Should have kept the original gallery up though.

Love the build and love the movies.

Thanks a lot. Shame they don't let you dl the other instructions. Far too lazy to print screen that stuff.
-
Evidently the Tic Tac Toe and Castle Battle Packs have lower quality minifigs. I am wondering if the same will be about the Pirates Battle Pack?
-
Looks awesome. I like the bricks you chose.

Nice review. I have both the Mine Mech and the Stone Chopper. I don't recall seeing any instructions on how to combine them together.
