I don't like the color scheme as much as the Model Town House, but otherwise I love it. It's nice to see something like a BBQ, I hope they expand on the outdoor stuff.

I'm gonna have to go with a medium sized fort. At 496 pieces it is not only smaller than other sets in the Pirate theme, like the BSB and the Imperial Trading Post, but it is also smaller than a number of the Castles of the time (Black Monarch's Castle, Black Knight's Castle, etc.).

I watched Redneck Zombies last night before going to bed, and then put Army of Darkness (Evil Dead 3) on as background noise while I went to sleep.

I had the same issue earlier: I could go to folders, but they were all empty. Everything's back to normal now, though :-)

As long as they don't totally bomb (financially), I'm all for the licensed stuff. If I could choose themes based purely on my own interested, would I rather have Pirates, or maybe additional Castle or City sets? Of course! But what's most important is Lego actually staying in business. With all the things that Lego has to compete with (especially video games), they need to do all they can to attract and keep consumers. If Star Wars, or Harry Potter, or Spongebob gets someone to consider buying a Lego set, when that person wouldn't ordinarly even think about Lego, then that's a good thing. And then, hopefully, once you've gotten the person to buy one set, they might buy others.

As I said elsewhere, these are better than I expected... I'll be getting a ton of 'em.

I really enjoyed putting the 7993 Service Station together. In fact, this is probably my favorite set of 2007. I only saw two problems. First, why is the sign with the prices on the ground? Is that how it is in Europe? And second, why is the door on the front of the building, right where a car would be parked getting gas? I did a little modified version of the set, to bring it more in line with the size of something like the Big Rig Truck Stop. I didn't fix the door problem because I didn't want to tear the building apart to change it, because if I had taken it apart I probably just would have torn the rest of it down and did a completely different MOC gas station using mostly the 7993 parts. I did fix the sign issue, though. Also, the 4-wide truck is modeled after a truck from the Big Rig Truck Stop, as sort of a way of paying homage to that set (which was one of my favorites as a kid).

My friend used to make fun of me because of the lyrics in that one. Good song, though!

Hard to tell much from the pic, but from what I can see it looks decent. I'm not that big on the planes/airports generally, but since I just bought the airport I'll probably end up getting this one as well.

Thanks for the review, and tons of pics! I've been wanting to pick this one up since I saw it. I thought the 4956 Creator House was nice, but this Model Town House is in a completely different league! I also like the alternate models that you can see in the catalogues.

I enjoy artists from a number of genres, but generally I stick to heavy metal. My favorite bands would probably be Mastodon, Megadeth, Metallica, Scorpions, and Tourniquet. Well, as far as likes go: I really like the troll faction shields, the royal minifig is good as usual, and the boat looks pretty realistic. As far as dislikes: those swords are way too big, two plain mini-boats don't really add much IMO, wigs, and do we need yet another contraption for firing objects? Now that I think about it I don't like other aspects of the set either (e.g. I would rather have basic parts than getting a dragon in every set), though I guess a lot of my dislikes are in there to please the young Lego enthusiasts.

Sure, I've had people poke fun at me about it, though it's been in a good natured way so far. But like Ryan said, it shouldn't really matter what other people think... the thing that's important is what each person finds interesting or enjoyable.

Not a movie, but I've been re-watching the News Radio (Seasons 1-4) shows of late.

I live in Pennsylvania, but unfortunately Lansdale is on the other side of the state (about 275 miles/440 kilometers away). I've not heard of a Lego store in PA, and it's not on the offical list of stores, but it's possible that he's legit. If it's a significant amount of money, I don't think it'd be wrong to ask for a couple pics of his store. Also, if legit, he might run the store out of his house, in which case it might fall under the radar of a lot of people.

I don't have an opinion one way or the other on whether SW should be considered classic, but I thought I'd throw in the idea that in some cases a certain period of time must pass before something can be considered classic. Automobiles, for example, might have to be anywhere from 15-25 years old (or more for some people/groups) to be considered classic. If a similar thing were applied to the SW sets, perhaps the first year or two would be classic, but not (at this point) the theme as a whole.
