Pantera - Planet Caravan (cover)

I bought 7621 Indiana Jones and the Lost Tomb today. Wasn't as fun a build as I thought it'd be. Not a bad set for the price, though.

Lego book published by Doring Kindersley
Paradosis replied to Holodoc's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I've owned the English version a couple times, it's the Ultimate Lego Book. It's fairly interesting, for what it is (pictures of mocs, facts about lego, etc.). Amazon.com has a used copy of the English version for $18.98, which I'd say is a fair price (I wouldn't pay more than that). -
Lego sorting techniques: How do YOU do it?
Paradosis replied to Siegfried's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Generally, these days, I sort the basic bricks and plates by color, and the rest according to special groupings (technic, town minifigs, pirate ships parts, etc.). I've tried 2 or 3 different approaches in the past, and I'll probably end up trying more in the future. -
I went to Walmart early this morning and got three of the small creator sets today: Mini Flyers, Mini Construction, and the Mini Trains.

Nice! I love the details, like how the wooden awning above the door is uneven.

Which Pirate LEGO faction do you support?
Paradosis replied to Col. Whipstick's topic in LEGO Pirates
While the pirates have a special place, I voted for the blue soldiers. It might be because Caribbean Clipper and Sabre Island were my first Pirate sets, I don't know. -
I come here to keep up with what's going on in the world of Lego. That, and I just like forums. :)

The 10 reasons you know you are a true lego fan
Paradosis replied to Zarkan's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I'm proud to say that I didn't get any of the original ten. *sweet* -
I first started playing with Lego when I was very young, and I guess I just became interested in it because it was a lot of fun! :) I got some hand-me-downs through my Grandmother, that probably started me off. Then my Gram would buy Lego from yard sales for me, which built up my collection quick. I guess my interestin really got going once I started getting some new Castle and Pirate sets around 1989 or 1990. After that, I had a few solid years of Lego-filled bliss. Then I entered my first dark ages; though the siren call of the brick would eventually lead me back to the light. Now if only I had more money!

I watched Metallica: Some Kind of Monster a few nights ago, for about the 15th time. A lot of entertaining drama and whatnot in that one, and some humor as well (especially if you listen to Metallica's wry commentary).

What game are we playing at the moment?
Paradosis replied to Mr Hobbles's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I've been playing Civ IV (again) the past few weeks, and also a bit of Dragon Warrior 3 on the Nintendo Gameboy Color (which I bought specifically so that I could play old school games like DW3). -
Perhaps the worst decision was to diversify as far as they did beyond their core product. Thankfully they've cut way back, and have refocused on the brick.

What's your favourite LEGO Pirate animal?
Paradosis replied to Col. Whipstick's topic in LEGO Pirates
Gonna have to go with the monkeys, though the rainbow parrots aren't that far behind. -
Which Is Better to get Western or Pirates?
Paradosis replied to Joey Lock's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I'd say Pirates, though part of the reason might be that I grew up with the Pirates theme, and was in my dark ages when the Western stuff came out. Still, I've spent lots of time on Lugnet, Peeron (catalogue scans) and Ebay looking at the sets that came out during my dark ages, and I still think I'd choose Pirates. I do feel bad leaving such a skimpy post right after a really good post by Brick Miner, but, eh, well there's my opinion fwiw. -
Thanks for posting this *y* I'll probably change my views as time moves on (and I actually get the sets), but my thoughts right now are... the Indy sets look good; both the town and castle sets seem like a step backwards to me (why do they make so many police sets?); Creator looks interesting as usual.

Finally got Thumb Wars (won on Ebay) and got to watch it again. Awesome DVD, but way too short.

Generally I like the new sets that Lego is coming out with, but this one doesn't do much for me. I don't have a body of water to land it in either.

Thanks for the review *y* I was very let down by the ship when I first saw it... "where's the rest of it!?" was my first thought. When finished it doesn't look as bad as I thought it would... but I would have rather paid an extra $10 and gotten a fuller ship. The wall I enjoyed putting together, and it had some nice touches. There's really only two things about it that bother me... 1) why have the treasure in the front? And 2) why is the room with the roof so small and the roof so low? Overall a good set, though of the seven new Castle sets this year, I'd probably rank it in the bottom two. I guess that says something about how much I like the Castle theme this year.

My name means tradition in Greek. I've been using the same screen name on various forums for 4 or 5 years now, so I just used it here as well.

Fantastic MOCs! :-D
