    survey Picture versus Video Reviews

I'm with the majority on this one. Picture reviews tend to be very informative with very nice views of the set, and not like video reviews. Were they tend to be filmed from a few feet away and only zoom in on some parts with mediocre definition. Also they go on for such a long time giving redundant info and lacking enough depth on the set itself. With a picture review you can conveniently look and read at your own pace, whereas with a video review you have to jump back and forth and youtube has to rebuffer the video. (Just why exactly) This one goes for more than specifically lego reviews, but does they tend to have some extremely loud intro that obligates me to turn down my speakers, then I have to turn them up again to actually hear the quiet reviewer.

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here

It's not bizarre at all, a lot of hinged pieces tend to age over time. For instance, the landing gear on my 2006 X-Wing has become very feeble over time and sags a lot when I'm swooshing it around. The TIE Defender has been around for about 4 and a half years, so age could be a possible answer to your problem. But I'm pretty sure if you replace it with a newer version of the piece, there should be no sagging whatsoever.

X-wing 7140 original is the best

Well not to be rude, but it would have been a good idea if you mentioned that you wanted to buy it earlier. Anyways, there is nothing stopping you from buying the original version. Just go on bricklink and try to find a good deal. If you can't find any good deals there then you might want to consider looking on Ebay, although you might not get many good deals.

This doesn't seem very likely. Why would they release it closer to all the Rebels sets that will soon be revealed, won't many people want to save up for them instead?

X-wing 7140 original is the best

I believe your opinion is heavily based off of nostalgia, which isn't a bad thing. The sets I get nostalgic for give me the original trilogy feeling too, like the 2007 Y-Wing, despite the fact that many people do not consider it the best. Now about the original X-Wing, like Venkefedo said, it was a good set for 1999. However it's aged rather poorly because of it's meager size and simple wing function. And every remake of the X-Wing is improved based off the flaws of the previous version. The design of the original version looked accurate to the movies, which is why they kept it that way but made minor changes over time to make it more detailed, explaining your idea that every X-Wing remake is a copy of the first. The 2012 version is improved in almost every way, the guns are very detailed, the wing function is very adequate this time, and the model has been made in scale. But just because it resembles the movie more doesn't mean that everyone is going to like it for reasons that can't change, like nostalgia.

LEGO Star Wars 2015 Pictures and Rumors

It would make perfect sense for the clone troopers to be phase one, considering in both battles on Geonosis the clone troopers wore phase 1 armor. And like you said, the previous battle packs both had phase II clones in them, and it's about time we got a good number of plain clones in one set. About the other sets, I think the lego chose some interesting choices for kids, such as the T-16 Skyhopper and TIE Advanced Prototype. I won't be surprised if kids like them, but they seem like sets that the older OT crowd would be interested in, despite the fact that the TIE is already making in appearance in Rebels. It's great to see the AAT remade, hopefully with the Phantom Menace colors. The battle packs are again interesting choices, but I have a feeling lego knows what its doing. And to be honest the rebels sets are just rebels sets. Not much actually seems anything worth buying, I might buy the battle packs but that's it for me.

    What is this walker?

Personally I think the technic innards make the set look incomplete, as if the designers were too lazy to cover up the skeleton and released it anyway. Although with more examination of http://www.brickshel...38/p1040368.jpg I notice the higher level of accuracy with the 8038 edition. I should also mention that for me there is some nostalgia clouding the 7657 version since it is one of the first sets I purchased that got me into the world of lego Star Wars. But you know what they say, to each their own.

    What is this walker?

To be honest, I don't know why everyone else on this site prefers the 8038 version compared to the 7657 version. 7657 looks much better in design, covering up the skeleton that is exposed in 8038. While I see the accuracy of 8038, but 7657 is accurate as well and looks a lot more appealing.

Well that's disappointing. A UCS Slave 1 is long overdue. And if it actually is the Slave 1 wouldn't there be a few pics of it released by now?

This seems possible since Boba Fett is getting his own movie after episode VII comes out. However if you look at the bottom in the blue area it says, "As seen in Episode V," so there's a possibility of this ship being released with the Rebel's packaging despite the fact that it doesn't relate to the show.

    Retired Set Value?

I was referring to the newer one, sorry I wasn't specific about that. But the old has been surprisingly successful as well.

    Retired Set Value?

VK-318's explanation was superb. There is a lot that effects the value of the set, such as how iconic the set itself and the minifigures included, not to mention the quality of the set has a major role too. For instance, Jabba's Palace has all three of those things, with a high price which as VK mentioned increases the value of the set after its retirement. Which means that Jabba's Palace is very likely to be expensive in a few years from now while it remains retired. An example of a set not doing well in retirement is the Starhopper that was released last Summer. The set itself only had several dim appearances in the Clone Wars and it's figures were rather mediocre. The quality of the set is inadequate too, with a blocky design and only one play feature that is decent. So don't expect this one to be extremely successful when Lego stops producing it. So to answer your question, the set's success in retirement depends on the set itself, with the previously stated reasons. So a quick examination of the box should let you know whether or not you should buy a second one for investment. Also I know I made this sound misleading about pricing, but a high price doesn't necessarily mean that it will do well, just increases the chances on an expensive set that's appealing. Feel free to ask more questions and welcome to Eurobricks.

LEGO Star Wars 2015 Pictures and Rumors

Why yes, I was somewhat exaggerating about number of remakes. But it feels like they have made a lot of them since those are the ones I usually anticipate. And while it's true that Lego has provided us with plenty of new sets, I was just never really fond of them. For instance, the Starhopper from last year and the cannon with Plo Koon made in Winter just didn't seem very good in terms of design, and I was never interested in the OR to examine the sets. This doesn't apply to all the CW sets, like the Coruscant Gunship you mentioned, but for some reason it feels like it goes for the majority of the sets. Anyways this new Wookiee Gunship reminds me of all the new designs Lego will make throughout the next few years, and will perhaps attract new SW fans to Lego. Which definitely limits the number of X-Wings and Snowspeeders we will be seeing.

    [REVIEW]: 75058 MTT

I agree with you on the fact that the remakes of big models are a little worse compared to their predecessors, especially on the MTT. The MTT in 2007 was spot on and lego should have simply re-released it instead of redesigning it, consider nothing about it was dated, not even the droids.

LEGO Star Wars 2015 Pictures and Rumors

Finally, after all these years we are seeing original sets, and not remakes that are meager in size and quality compared to their previous versions. The minifigures look very detailed with some thought put into them as well, with some nice pieces within the ship itself. Of course the price is a problem, but I have reason to believe that it will only be temporary. Last year with the AT-AP walker, its price was revealed to be $70 USD, yet because of an unknown explanation it was lowered to $60 USD, so it's possible that it could be lowered. However, last year's set was a remake with nothing other than the figures being spectacular. Since this is an original set in all aspects, the price could remain the same, but we can hope. EDIT: Aw man, I was ninja'd on the idea of the set's price, what a bummer. But you know what they say, great minds think alike.

REVIEW: 7150 TIE Fighter and Y-Wing

Do you know specifically what changes they made to the TIE advanced? I've read on the internet that they made a minor change of color on the gray but nothing more.

Sorry for asking this but I was out of touch with this forum, how many pieces does the new MTT contain?

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here

Well based off of observing the pictures I'd say that both of them aren't bad, but they're not astounding either. The ISD appeared to be more promising when pics were released from the NY toy fair, but after seeing more detailed pics in this month I find it to be lacking in the interior, and it felt pretty small for a Star Destroyer. The AT-AT is a little too small as well, and had the absence of good minifigures, as you mentioned the ISD had. I guess between those I prefer the ISD, but not by much. This is mainly because of the superior figs and I believe there is more play value out of it, even with the underwhelming interior. If I were you I would try to find a previous version of the AT-AT and buy the 2004 version used for a fair price. I understand that it's not from the new wave but you will get more out of it.

LEGO Star Wars 2014 Pictures and Rumors

We know that it's a little bigger than the 8129 version, but we are disappointed in the fact that it's way too small for its piece count. The 2010 version has about 810 pieces, while this set has 1137 pieces, so you'd expect it to be a lot bigger, but somehow it ended up barely bigger. Also nothing is really flashing from the minifig selection, nothing is really standing out either, making it an underwhelming set.

LEGO Star Wars 2014 Pictures and Rumors

I have to agree what everyone else is saying about the new B-Wing. It has good figures but has a mediocre design with no stand like the 2006 version had, which was much better IMO. By the way, can someone remind me what the price and piece count of the new B-Wing is?

Oh ok, that makes sense. The Star Wars forum was the only one I went on during April 1st, so that must be why I didn't notice the other mods who changed they're names and pics too.
