    [MOC] Rancor Library

Thanks for blogging my Moc, and for the feedback. The size had to be limited to fit inside the displaycase available at the library. Also my budget couldn´t handle a larger floor (spent $30 bricklinking the tiles only) About the lightsources, you are correct, they are spread out to make the scene look less crowded but ended up a Little bit out of Place. We´ll just have to wait and see if the rancors will ever get their complete library shown. :)

    [MOC] Rancor Library

Yes that´s a skeleton. You see, Rancors sometimes hides their food inside bookshelfs for later use. But in their quest for knowledge and thirst for Sci-fi novels they sometimes forget about their stash and that´s why we find bones of long forgotten meals in their libraries. ;) Thanks all for the comments. Hopefully the kids visiting our (real) library will appreciate it as well.
  3. Almost forgot about this thread... It would be great if Santa would unleash a zombie virus upon us. Then i would tell my wife to get off my back and stop nagging about how our savings went into rebuilding our romantic lovedungeon into a nuclear safe batcave. Edit: included pic.
  4. Set no: 75034 Year released:2014 Minifigs: 4 (2 Death star Gunners and 2 Royal Guard) Pieces: 100 Price: 149 SEK, ?USD, ? Euro Got this set today in the mail. Thought I woud do a short Review of it. To start with, the front of the box: DST01 by mordatre, on Flickr And the back showing some play features: DST02 by mordatre, on Flickr On the side Lego advertise their new blaster instead of showing a minifig in scale 1:1 : DST03 by mordatre, on Flickr We get 2 bags and one instruction booklet: DST04 by mordatre, on Flickr Inside the booklet we are shown some action features again: DST05 by mordatre, on Flickr Parts in bag 1.. DST06 by mordatre, on Flickr and in bag 2. Not much, but at least it´s useful parts. DST07 by mordatre, on Flickr The star of the show! The spanking new Death Star Gunner. Very detailed and it´s love at first sight. The head is useful in other scenarios, the torso and legs look cool and will find usage elswehere. The helmet is perfect. Conclusion: You can never have too many Death Star Gunners. :) DST08 by mordatre, on Flickr The new Royal Guard: Even if we wanted a navy trooper or storm trooper instead of 2 identical Royal Guards, this figure is, at least to me a great update to an already good looking figure. Dark red arms do make it look more like the one from the Movie. But I noticed at first when I put the cape on that it had 2 different shades of red. The dark red inner side is a bit more rubber/plasic/glossier than the standard red outside. Their Force pikes are of course silly, a black lightsaber hilt would be more fitting. Their heads are black, without Printing. DST09 by mordatre, on Flickr New blaster! Well, it does fire further than you might think. As long as the stud of the projectile isn´t hollow it can fire anything. I won´t use these blasters for my troops, but as fellow builder Larry Lars pointed out at his flickr page; use you imagination! There are a number of possible combinations for this new piece and I welcome it. With all them Battle packs I will buy I´ll end up with a whole bunch of these blasters. DST010 by mordatre, on Flickr Complete set and some extras. Well 10 of the 1x1 round plates are for ammunition, and you´ll need it once you start playing with the new blasters. :) DST011 by mordatre, on Flickr DST012 by mordatre, on Flickr Conclusion: BUY IT! Or wait a couple of months and then get the Death Star Troopers from BL.

LEGO Star Wars 2014 Pictures and Rumors

They use the Gungan sub to travel to Theed Palace and rescue the Queen. Adding her in that set is relevant as a play feature. Adding Tuskens in the sandcrawler would make sense too as a play feature.

LEGO Star Wars 2014 Pictures and Rumors

I think the Stormtrooper looks ok, but it is a bit annoying that it differs from the previous version a little too much. The biggest difference is the legprinting. While being a great detail added, they will stand ut alot from my older troopers. I´m really excited for next years battlepacks.

LEGO Star Wars 2014 Pictures and Rumors

Indeed. They just revealed the character Chopper. The new ugly astromech. Must buy however because I collect astromechs.

LEGO Star Wars 2014 Pictures and Rumors

The advent calendar lacks armybuilders. The santa trooper looks like a real letdown unless he´s got a lieutenant torso. The rebel pilot could be useful because of the updated legprint. Hopefully it will be the one in the microfighter and not the one shown on the prelimn image (from the planet set).

LEGO Star Wars 2014 Pictures and Rumors

Does anyone know if the officer in the new ISD will have the same torso as Admiral Piett from the Super Star destroyer? I can´t make out from the blurry Pictures if that´s the case or not.

LEGO Star Wars 2014 Pictures and Rumors

Anyone else bought Rieekan for a large sum last year from Bricklink? And now they put him in the advent calendar. :( The Santa trooper sounds interesting though. Hopefully it´ll be a red stormtrooper and not a clone.

    Review: 41042 Tiger's Beautiful Temple

Thanks for the review. Agreed that there´s a problem with Friends animals being overly cute or disfigured. Olivia´s foal is actually useable in other themes but Stephanies lamb looks like it belongs on Naboo or some weird episode of "Adventure time". This tiger at least looks like a tiger, so I´ll probably buy it and use it in some overly cute Friends MOC. :)

    MOC: Heartlake River

The plan was to make this much larger, but money played it´s part (Star Wars claims alot from the Lego budget) so I present this first module to you. I plan to make another one and place it next to this one so it will eventually be a much larger build. Hopefully you´ll like it. There´s alot of color! ;) HLR01 by mordatre, on Flickr HLR02 by mordatre, on Flickr HLR03 by mordatre, on Flickr HLR04 by mordatre, on Flickr HLR05 by mordatre, on Flickr HLR06 by mordatre, on Flickr HLR08 by mordatre, on Flickr

    MOC: Heartlake River

We all need a little summer during these dark winter times. :) And it´s always great to step away from collecting Star Wars and building something from the other end of the color spectra. Thanks a bunch for the comments once again!

    MOC: Heartlake River

Thanks to all for the great comments! @Pandora -My inlaws gav me a new torch for christmas that I used as added lighting. However I held it with one hand while operating the camera with the other hand so thats why the lighting is inconsistent. It did came out great on most of the pictures though. Outside in Sweden it´s as dark as it possibly can be. @ Zepher - Point taken about the bushes. I´ll take that into consideration when adding another module. Might do some small changes to this one at the same time.

    Review: 75035 Kashyyyk Troopers

I built this set together with my kids yesterday and the speeder is really nice with some useful parts. I do however have a hard time to really like the scout helmet. It´s not too big but the visor placed on his forehead just makes the overall appearence of the figure a bit "off". I was looking forward to this set but I don´t think it turned out as good as it could have been. I´ll still buy a couple of this set but on sale. I let my kids choose between this set and the Utapau troopers and they both went with Utapau without question. EDIT: Black hips looks a lot better. All the tan parts makes it look too "bright". They should have done it all olive green with tan printing instead.

Thanks all. As mentioned I only used pieces from the actual set in my blaster combinations. Here´s a photo from Larry Lars with some other brilliant combinations. Possibilities by Larry Lars, on Flickr

LEGO Star Wars 2014 Pictures and Rumors

Lego put Chewie in almost every OT-set they possibly could for the last 13 years, so I hope they will continue with that for at least a year or so. :) I´m not interested in the droid gunship either.

Christmas Angel! Christmas Angel by mordatre, on Flickr
  22. Bought the two 2013 Battlepacks from a Swedish retailer last week. I´m saving the Old Republic one for christmas but this one got opened today. It´s lack of "real" figures makes this one seem less interesting but is it worth the cash at all? Minifigs: 1 clone Sergeant, 1 Clone trooper, 2 brickbuilt droidekas 1 (small) Command base Price: € 14.99, 149SEK Pieces: 124 Year: 2013 Box size is the new smaller version. (Pirates of the Caribbean Captains Cabin had a testrun for this box) 01 by mordatre, on Flickr 02 by mordatre, on Flickr Bags and instruktionbooklet. No stickers. Front of booklet is the same as box. 03 by mordatre, on Flickr Yes, he´s still there. 04 by mordatre, on Flickr Both clones. I like the new print and the non-clonewarsfaces. 05 by mordatre, on Flickr Helmets close up. Really nice but why´s the Sergeants visor silver? 06 by mordatre, on Flickr Compared to the 8014 Clone Wars Clone clooper (to the right). I see no need to replace my CW Clones with this EP2 Clone. I´ll just make sure that in mocs the EP2 Clones are in the front. 07 by mordatre, on Flickr Parts in big bag. Some useful snotbrackets. 07 by mordatre, on Flickr Parts in small bag. 08 by mordatre, on Flickr Spares. 09 by mordatre, on Flickr Whole set. 10 by mordatre, on Flickr Demonstrating the flickfiremissile. Point blank in the back of his head. 11 by mordatre, on Flickr The droidekas doesn´t really rock, but with some folding they can roll. I think the droidekas are actually quite nice. Certainly very playable and the kids won´t complain. If you don´t like them they are made of some very useful parts anyway. 12 by mordatre, on Flickr Conclusion: Playablility is as good as any and kids will love this. Afols will look at this as an expensive EP2 Clone armybuilder with some great parts in it. I will probably buy some more these on sale, but since I bought set 8014 when it was available I don´t really need more clones.

LEGO Star Wars 2014 Pictures and Rumors

I think Lego knows what they are doing. I agree the Deathstar Battlepack should have included a navytrooper and stormie. But that would only be to please the afols (which are around 5% of Lego Product consumers) and make it easy for the armybuilders (which are less than 1% of the Lego consumers). Kids (those small humans that Lego is intended for) won´t have all them previous expensive sets in their sometimes small collection and therefore this BP will look really interesting to them (kids like figures with closed evil looking helmets). The Afol community have long screamed for some deathstar gunners and now they give us TWO in a cheap set and suddenly you all go NOOOOOOOO! (pun intended ). To get your navy troopers you´ll just have to buy a more expensive set (which of course is what Lego wants). I am overall satisfied with this wave and will look forward to get some gunners for my 10188 and a small platoon of Kashyyk troopers. As for our highly debated Royal Guards... those are some of my favourite Star Wars figures from my childhood so I won´t mind a Another handful of them.

    New vs Old gunship

I don´t think modding the 7676 with the new improved details would be so expensive. New cockpit area, white slopes on top, front guns and stronger wings all seems to be affordable pieces. I really like the noseart and take a look at the stickersheet aftermarket prices on Bricklink, they are insane. I´ll keep my 7676 but will probably buy the new one aswell. The Laat is one of the few good things that came out of the Prequel trilogy. Almost makes me forgive them for Jar-Jar
