Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

This is it. This is the one that'll finally get me to buy a big Modular. It was nearly the Pet shop. Then the cinema. But this... Not sure I can resist.

Ghostbusters 30th Anniversary CUUSOO set Discussion

I am ecstatic at the final model. Although I do wonder about the rather tenuous build on the side windows of the car. I hate tenuous building where parts are balanced, glued, cut, wedged, patched up with stickers or paint etc... If it doesn't stand up to play then it's a failed build as far as I'm concerned. So I am curious to see what's going on there. Other than that one point though... Ace. Love the minifigs (would've been nice to have the shoulder patch though) and look forward to building brick versions of Ghosts from the movies. Mr Stay Puft. Slimer. Helldogs. Zombie Taxi driver.

News The LEGO Movie: 70810 MetalBeard's Sea Cow

While nowhere near as big as the 'model' that appears in the movie, this set is ruddy huge and beautiful! I'm not as niffed as I thought I'd be with the smaller Metal Beard, either. After seeing how they deal with sizing and 'far away' things in the actually Lego movie it's self. Loved the mini model of The Seacow with the "bvrrrrrrr" sound effects, ha ha ha. And every time I see Benny I just crease up thinking about his screaming "SPACESHIP!" when he's finally allowed to build one.

2014 Friends Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Pandas live in Chinese forested woodland that could be considered jungle-like due to the large amounts of jungle foliage such as bamboo, ground ferns and palm species. But in times gone by, panda species ranged, geographically, from China to the warmer, more stereotypically jungle environs of Vietnam. So, it's not completely out, but let's face it, it's a fun toy for kids that will start them off learning about animals by engaging them in a fun way.

2014 Friends Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Cool. Lovely new parts. Loving the vine and the palm fronds in lime. I'm crossing my fingers that Lego will release some of these Friends animals reprinted and recoloured for the city line as a zoo sub-theme. They've used the CMF baby chimp here but Friends-ed up. I'm sure some could go the other way, such as the panda and turtle. Also, this'd be a cracking parts set. Those light blue, tan and green plates and all that lovely reddish brown and dark orange. Oow. Just noticed the new daffodil type flowers (brilliant for a Welshy like yours truly) and more of those ace ice-cream cones used as Tiki lanterns with a flame in them. Very cool. Have the old school walkie talkies ever been produced in anything other than black, dark grey or dark bluish grey? I can't remember if they had them in blue and white back in the 80's with the space sets or not.

2014 City Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Those Arctic sets are beautiful. I want those huskies. That Cargo copter, moded with wheels, is a must! I love that huge truck with the wheels too. I'm gonna be so poor this year. AND! The polar bear has made a come back. I'm gonna throw some CMF Yetis in there too.

The Simpsons 2014 Rumors & Discussion

I love that Homer Minifig. If I buy nothing else (unlikely) I'll at least buy him.

2014 City Sets - Rumours and Discussion

I just bought the new Prisoner Transport set today from Toys R Us in Chester. Very nice set, but I'm going to mock it into a security / cash transport van. There were a few new sets there. I was surprised to see them on the shelves already.

I don't know if anyone has posted this yet, but you can see the alternate builds here http://www.thebrickfan.com/lego-movie-official-box-art-images/

2014 City Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Loving the logging truck and the Peugeot inspired camper van. That police prisoner transport is screaming out to be MOCed into a security / money transport van. It would also work brilliantly as part of a Dark Knight diorama with a Tumbler, the Lego Movie bin lorry and a big articulated truck with the Joker in the back firing a rocket launcher.

The LEGO Movie Sets News and Discussion

That Ice Cream van just shot to the top of my list. I think you're all missing the point here. What these designs are is a series of City vehicles that are disassembled in the movie and turned into fighting machines to battle Lord Business and his drones, using ONLY the parts that make up the city set. It's like the alternate models that used to appear on the back of all Lego sets up until... well, some time between when I stopped buying and started again. I'm a bit disappointed by the lack of '1980-Somthing Space Guy', but if I'm honest, I have a few of the originals in blue, white, red and yellow, some of which have the broken chin strap. Child of the 80's, me.

The LEGO Movie Sets News and Discussion

Wowza. Those new movie sets look bloody fun. I'm going to be grabbing a fair few of them. These look the most fun designs since Monster Fighters and the last Space Police line. The new city minifigs look brilliant too. Loving the new lime reflective jackets. May be able to moc that into a British Police officer.
  14. I don't understand why so many people are excited about an Abraham Lincoln fig. I can't imagine anything more boring. I'm more excited about the Emmett fig. He's got a helmet with hair. And he looks a right little character, even if he is VERY similar to the every day Lego construction workers. The coffee shop bloke looks great. I'll be buying several of him and mixing up hair and faces for a little coffee shop. That hair piece looks like it could be VERY useful too. I'm loving the robot zombie things. That one with the dynamite, beard and, what? Raccoon hat? Looks good. The panda guy will e a great addition to the existing mascot / fancy dress characters. They're a great addition to my London Bus MOC. Like a bit stag party on the move. Also loving President Business (great suit), the Hawaiian shirt and another Mexican stereotype to go with the previous. Maybe playing guitars in a Lego street or at a Mexican restaurant? The mugs, iPhones / iPads, panda teddy and clipboard will all be VERY usefull too.

2014 City Sets - Rumours and Discussion

After watching that (thanks by the way) I'm of the mind that the Logging Truck is the prettiest set and first on my buy list. Brilliant to see a new wheel for the cars too (on the Car Carrier and 4x4 sets). Same size as the overused balloon tire but far more appropriate. Very nice. I was just saying an a post the day before yesterday we could do with a new wheel.
