  1. After seeing a bunch of reviews I'm sold on these sets. Even though they're rather simple they're so charming and I'm in love with the minifigures! I plan on buying the whole wave this weekend. This theme definitely could benefit from a minifigure series since there's so many characters and basically each requires a new mold. Hope that's something they consider in the future.

  2. That is a massive disappointment if they indeed are minidolls. I get that Wicked skews more female, but girls like normal minifigures too! Only hope is if we get a larger D2C set with normal minifigures as well like the live-action Little Mermaid did.

  3. Very excited for this! Been looking forward to this movie for a basically my whole life and I'm overjoyed that we're getting it in LEGO as well! I would assume the two largest sets are the Emerald City and Shiz, and the smaller sets could be Munchkinland with Glinda in her bubble or the Ozdust Ballroom scene. Since it's split into two movies we'll probably get another wave next year as well. So much potential, I'm thrilled!

  4. Saw the film a few nights ago and had a good time! Definitely lacks the magic of the originals, but that was expected since Spielberg didn't come back to direct this one.

Definitely so many missed opportunities for sets and I'm really sad none were made. With the film seemingly not doing particularly well at the box office, I don't see them ever making any sets in the future. Next year is Temple of Doom's 40th anniversary though, so I'm hoping we get another wave to celebrate that, like how Jurassic Park got an anniversary wave this year.

  5. The castle looks nice but just no reason for me to pick it up since I own the 2016 version. I'm sure I'll get it at some point and the minifigures are great, but it's a pass for now. I just wish all the princesses were a lot easier to collect instead of being spread across multiple minifigures series and sets over several years. :/

  6. These sets look great! I understand wanting to focus on Green Hill for the first wave, so the lack of variety in location doesn't bother me too much. Having only four characters across four sets is disappointing though, so Knuckles better be in that last set. With. the lack of minifigures I don't have to buy every set to get all the characters, so that's a good thing at least.

They‘ve finally added more information about the Indy sets on the product page:

    https://www.lego.com/en-ch/themes/indiana-jones/about

They finally acknowledge DoD, but also make it clear that these sets are meant to tie in with it. If you scroll down, there is even a small FAQ section specifically about DoD. BRUH :jollyroger:

This whole situation is so odd, but it definitely seems to be a Disney/Lucasfilm decision. Across the board there is not much merchandise for the new film but a heavy emphasis on the original trilogy, with most new merchandise being based on Raiders. Unless we get a surprise D2C like The Little Mermaid did I guess that confirms that's all we're getting this year. Oh well. :/

  8. I think the odd decision is to make this a large scale 18+ set rather than something more affordable. Merchandise for this movie is already selling out like crazy, so it's weird to me that LEGO would produce something so expensive since I think the people that would be most interested won't be too willing to shell out so much for this set (no pun intended) when they could've done a smaller set or even a range of sets that people could purchase more casually. This movie will certainly hit a billion or at least come close to it like all the other remakes, and people would love something with the new Ariel, but the price might deter them.

  9. Definitely now think that leaked Snow White's Cottage set could very well be based on the remake if it's set for 2024. I actually enjoy the remakes for what they are so I welcome these sets, but I would also like some classic sets too! We need a full range based on the animated films and not just large 18+ sets.

Rowling also said no to a movie. She was worried it would hurt the play financially because why would anyone pay to see it if there's a movie. For the same reason most musicals don't get film adaptations until they've been around for a long time.

Even then I still think it would be too early to do the Cursed Child as a film, the original cast are still young and haven't quite aged up to play the older versions of their characters yet.

Also, upon further reading Zaslav has said that the series doesn't limit what they could do in the Wizarding World, which could mean they are open to continuing from the original continuity with spinoffs, sequels, etc. The series might very well exist on its own and be ignored entirely if you wanted to, like how Rings of Power and the LOTR films are completely separate. It's needlessly convoluted, but there's that at least, which would make sense considering how dependent on the films the parks and merchandise are.

  11. Just thought it was interesting that Hasbro's Dial of Destiny merchandise is not launching until Fall of this year (well after the film's release), so I still don't think that it's entirely out of the question that LEGO would do the same and launch sets late this year or in 2024. Seems like across the board since it's a relaunch of Indy merchandise they're focusing on the original films to start.

At the very least I would still like to believe that the Temple of Doom is still coming. If content was not an issue then I find it very hard to believe that they would straight up cancel it over a parts issue rather than fix it and release it at a later date. A major design flaw that would require a redesign would just seem like an unusual circumstance considering how much work goes into designing a set and getting it approved before going into production.

We're only in April, all I'm saying is I think it's it's too early to rule out any potential future waves, especially when the theme literally just launched a week ago. I'm going to continue to search for any glimmer of hope that I can. :)

Not impossible, but why not just create a piece that can work for both young and old Indy at the same time (and other characters too), rather than one that requires printing? Having to print over the hat band kinda defeats the purpose of having it moulded in the first place :laugh_hard:

I don’t think I’m being dramatic here. Just questioning why they didn’t create a more versatile piece

A hat hair combo with grey hair and dark brown band is three colors in one piece, and I don't think LEGO ever does triple-moulded pieces, so I don't see why they wouldn't just use the same piece with a printed band.

  13. I only received one hat per set but I did get an extra whip in the Temple, so it seems like it's not in every batch.

Just finished building all three sets and this is honestly my favorite wave that LEGO has produced in a very long time! Love the attention to detail, and the functions are just so great. I really missed seeing play features like this in LEGO sets which has been really lacking across the board, so all the functions especially in the Temple set are so entertaining. These sets really brought me back to my childhood growing up with the 2008 sets, especially the Temple since the original was the one set I always wanted but was never able to get. Such an amazing nostalgia trip.

Star Wars Celebration is this weekend where they might show a new trailer for DoD as well as merchandise for the film. Obviously I'm not expecting anything from LEGO, but I can dream, right?

  14. I’m confident that there will be more in the future. I think people are underestimating how big of a push Indy is going to get from Disney. If the new movie does well (and I’m sure it will) then we can expect spinoffs to keep the franchise relevant, and that means more merchandise. There’s already a Disney+ show in development. With the sets selling well so far I see no reason for LEGO not to continue.

The absence of DoD sets could simply just be to avoid spoilers and we could very well see a wave in 2024, with the sets we have now filling that void for the time being. This is the grand finale for Indiana Jones and they’ve been pretty tight lipped regarding the plot. There’s been no major plot leaks at all.

I remain hopeful is all, but I definitely don’t think this is all we’re getting. We don’t know what the plans for 2024 are yet, so all we can do is be patient.

  15. Pretty solid line up! Surprised a Secret Invasion version of Nick Fury isn't included to represent that show, and sad that Ms. Marvel is excluded since the one we're probably getting in The Marvels set is a different suit from the show version. Just wish we would start getting sets for the Disney+ shows because it's hard to cover everything with just 12 minifigures in a series.

  16. I don’t understand the notion that it would be unusual to have another wave in 2024. The original line had more sets in 2009 when there was no new movie, and we see it with other licenses all the time. Harry Potter, Jurassic Park, and Back to the Future got sets when there was “no cultural relevance” from a new film, so why can’t Indiana Jones?

Also I guess it could be possible that we’re not getting DoD sets to avoid spoilers and only original trilogy sets so they at least have something out for people who want sets after seeing the movie. We haven’t seen any DoD specific merchandise elsewhere yet either.

  17. Just picked up all three sets and I'm very excited to get building! Just a heads up for fellow Canadians, Toys R Us is selling the Temple for $169.94 and the Fighter Plane for $39.94 which is below MSRP and a decent savings.

Everything is selling out fast online, which I guess is a good sign that there is demand! Seems LEGO may have underestimated how big this launch would be.

I personally cannot see them only coming out with 3 sets for this big of a revival with the contract/license/investment that comes from disney.

Exactly, I find it very hard to believe that they would bring back this theme without the intention of promoting the new film. Not having any DoD sets would just be ridiculous with all the hype of it being the last Indiana Jones film ever. Avatar 2 sets came out after the film's premiere, so I guess it's possible we might see DoD sets come out later in the year after the film is out if it follows the same pattern (first wave of sets based on the first film, then a second wave based on the new film).

  19. Only time will tell I guess if the Temple of Doom gets released or not. I just hope at the very least this isn't it for the theme, would be a shame for it not to get at least a couple waves. Seeing Jurassic Park get a full wave this year with no new movie gives me hope that if these sell well, we'll get more. There's so much potential here.

  20. These sets are honestly underwhelming...really wanted to love these but I don't really. I'll still be picking them up since I've been waiting since my childhood for Indiana Jones to return to LEGO so I'll take what I can get, but I wish it was a stronger lineup. Minifigures look great though! Just hoping the Temple Escape set that we haven't seen yet is really good.
