Interest in a Universal Pirates Story Setting?
Berry Syedow replied to Lord Admiral Helden Ravensdorn's topic in LEGO Pirates
The best explanation I could find: Linky "Ah, that is a can of worms now, isn't it. Wink Once upon a time there was a site known as Castle World: http://www.ozbricks.net/castle/ which was meant to be a gathering place for all castlehead AFOLs. In the last couple of years there has been little added to the site. The site changed hands, and there was some debate on what, if anything should happen to it. The current owners of the site say it will soon rise from the ashes, and I hope they're right--more castle sites will only help the community, not hurt it. Others had doubts, or perhaps had a different vision of what a general Castle LEGO site would be, and classic-castle.com was created out of this discussion, just over a month ago. The Isle of Mist (or Mists, I never knew which was right) was part of Castleworld. It was supposed to be an open-ended experiment in joint roleplaying/storytelling. There was this island, shrouded in mist, that anyone could travel to if they had a ship or some sort of airship. People would construct their teams and have them travel to the island and build colonies (people would photograph these themselves and the photos would be gathered on the Castleworld website). The mist receded very slowly, so the colonists could not travel into the island interior (or meet eachother). As far as I recall, this is where things ended. The map never got updated with the mist receding, so colonists never created more stories about their travel to the interior, nor did they meet eachother. After months with no updates, enthusiasm for the project died, some accusations were hurled about, and people moved on to other collaborative projects (like the joint town created for Brickfest 2002, the Medieval Marketplace standard, and now the Classic Castle City standard). I loved this theme with a passion. I ended up owning three of the aforementioned sets: Sting Ray Explorer Sea Hunter Scuba Squad (Which, oddly, is listed under town instead.) I liked the yellow submarine the most, but longed to own Deep Reef Refuge. I don't mind the color scheme at all. In fact it's a pleasant reminder of the cheery atmosphere TLC once provided in its older themes.

Heh, Darth Ewok, need I remind you?

Interest in a Universal Pirates Story Setting?
Berry Syedow replied to Lord Admiral Helden Ravensdorn's topic in LEGO Pirates
I would love to participate in a pirate roleplaying game! Vahkimetru pursued a similar idea recently, but it was poorly executed and ultimately abandoned. I wish you luck in your quest. How fantastical can the islands be? Will we be allowed to build structures on them? Excellent idea! I -
The robo pod I bought some odd months back had the same mistake. I'm curious if all of them are this way or not.

Alright, I have a few problems with the moc, but I still like it. Does the ship ever use sails? If not then why not dismantle the mast? That shouldn't be a problem if the ship was modified to include oars. Lastly, wouldn't motor power be a more logical solution? Oar's power seems it would be less reliable in both speed and accuracy. What I like: It has the right amount of colors so that it's not too jarring. The overall shape is nice. The figurehead holding a key is creative. The ship's stern. And using the Control Panel piece to mount the flag pole on and rap the rope around. *y* EDIT: One more thing. (teehee) The passengers need to be assigned life jackets! There's always the offchance that some kid will jump overboard. Lastly, mind adding sails purely for aesthetic's sake?

The truth regarding the knights with no pants...
Berry Syedow replied to vahkimetru's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
That's an Interesting find, vahki. Isn't this common knowledge, though? -
An amusing addition, eNiGMa! Frank seems like a nice guy. Do he and Danju go back much? From the angles of Frank's face it looks as if he's wearing a pair of shades. Is this intentional? Will you ever unveil the complete version? The content feels slightly lacking. The word bubbles are a nice touch. *y* The ending is priceless. :-D

The perilous pitfalls of grain transporting
Berry Syedow replied to Berry Syedow's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
You'll probably be seeing a lot of mid-size to large gray creations from me because I lack the diversity of parts in other colors present in my gray collection. I'll try and see what I can do. ;-) As for no blaster, I've been toying with the idea that guns and blasters are banned from areas with heavy space-traffic. Does anyone ever wonder how many bystander ships are hit by missed shots in Star Wars, and the like? Thank you for your comments, SuvieD! -
I'm a newby when it comes to space MOCs, so I hope you'll enjoy my latest installment. The ship is a grain transport. The captain is studiously reparing his ship when a space man decides he wants to commandeer the vessel to reap the grain profit. The captain assumes a defensive position and readies his extended wrench as a weapon. The space man is prepared for a quick fight, with a superior weapon and the upper ground at his aid. A general view. A different angle. The courageous captain. The dasterdly disputant. And some Sizzilin' Snot! Gallery when public. Enjoy!

Here's a thread discussing some old commercials from Classic-Castle.com. I hope that helps! Here's an old PIRATES commercial. I can't stop laughing... :-D

Classic Castle- What Makes it So Good?
Berry Syedow replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Part of its popularity is that it was the only castle line at the time. There was no competition. No castle line to compare it to, thus it became the standard. What if a more fanciful take had been implemented beforehand? Would kids be disappointed by a classic-castle line thereafter? Classic-castle -
Most creative: KhoRne. I really like the look of his barbaric knight, and that face is perfect. Most fearsome: A toss up between 007 and Sir Dillon. I prefer the look of Sir Dillon

Here's a link. It's a very large scale, so you can imagine the amount of detail possible on a ship like that.

Review: 4892 Creator - Prehistoric Power
Berry Syedow replied to Dino_Bot's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Nice review, Dino_bot. I've contemplated purchasing him. Your review pretty much solidifies that decision. Where and when did you buy your model? I haven't seen it around my parts, lately. I take it you don't have any of the viking dragons? -

Ahh, but time is a thing of the past on the planet of Genesis. New Spocks and axe handles will be a dime a dozen.
