  1. I dont usually buy anything else apart from the star wras theme but this set is really awesome and could be the exception. I love its wackiness and unusual shape. Price is a bit steep but who knows it might be discounted on May 4th.

If you look close I bet the printing on those minifigures will be slightly different from the previous versions. It's usually the case. I'm surprised that you call the SBD "super rare". They have been included in plenty of sets and they can be picked up pretty cheap from ebay or bricklink. On another note, it has been a while since I have seen the films but the AT-AT looks a bit on the thin side to me (especially the legs). Is that just me or is it the angle the pics were taken from?

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here

I've never had a problem with Bricklink purchases so far (touch wood). Just apply the usual caution that you would with other auction sites I suppose. Buy from reputable high feedback sellers. If a seller has a very large number of a particular figure for sale (especially when that figure is from a recent set) then be a bit careful. If the price of a piece is considerably lower than the average price then again be cautious. Personally i also tend to stay away from Chinese sellers because the chance of a knock-off is higher. Dont get me wrong this is just a personal belief (based on the huge numbers of knock off items I have seen on ebay sold by Chinese/Hong Kong sellers) and I am not saying that all Chinese sellers are the same.

May the 4th exclusive will definitely be something else. Hence why it's called exclusive.

Well, I think my initial expectations of the cantina being a half bothered attempt by Lego seem to be confirmed. Lego is well aware of the strange obsession that the fans have with this set and they feel safe that it will be a nice cash cow. So they make some slight improvements and add a few fancy figures and charge a nice sum for it.

I fully agree. There is a slight resemblance but if I had seen that minifigure I would have never identified it as a bothan. And I'm sure I have never heard of a purple fur bothan.

The Darth Vader and Clone minifigs look disappointing, but hopefully those are not the final versions. For that price I would expect the Sandcrawler to be 2000+ parts and to include a few minifigures with it (hopefully some updated Jawas and those obscure droids).

The advent calendar version will very likely be slightly different from the Rieekan in the set. Probably a small change in the uniform design or a different hair piece. It is very likely although you can never tell with Lego so it remains to be seen. The only thing I am sad about is the fact that Lego never gave us a separatist capital ship or frigate. Doubt it. Star Wars sells and Lego are aware of that so they will continue to make whatever sets they please and bring the money in.

Thank god there is some clarification at last which means that we dont have to endure another 100 pages of speculation on the cantina set. Disappointed slightly that AT AT and ISD are slightly smaller than previous versions but that Advent calendar sounds quite exciting.

You're quite right. Maybe my judgement was biased based on the old cantina set. I hope my judgement is wrong and lego brings out a set that shows the cantina in its full glory (or as near as they can get to it).

LEGO Star Wars 2014 Pictures and Rumors

You know, the creator of the Cantina set is probably reading these pages and p**sing himself laughing at the huge speculation that it has generated. And Lego on the other side is rubbing their hands in anticipation of all the fat profits they will make selling this set (even though it is a pathetic half finished attempt).

Wuher and a few of the other characters like Ponda Baba, etc that people are going mad for in this thread are some of the most obscure characters in the history of Star wars. They basically appear for a few minutes in the cantina scene and that's it. They are not even mentioned any further in the expanded universe literature (apart from the "Tales from the Mos Eisley Cantina" book). Not quite sure why people are making such a big fuss here about their appearance or not in a set. That said if I had the choice between a new version of Obi Wan, Han or Luke (they must have at least 20 versions each so far) or the obscure characters I would choose the latter. @Spyderlord: Good god, you must have a lot of time and patience in your hands to reply to all those posts. Generally, I hope that the mystery behind the cantina set gets revealed soon because it is getting boring having to read page after page of people wishing/speculating/hoping that we get ponda baba, wuher, etc or not.

Surely Disney wont be able to control Lego product pricing? I think you guys consider it cheap because you compare it to the stupidly inflated prices that the original set is selling for on ebay? The main attraction to this set is the minifigures it brings because the building itself is not anything impressive.

I reckon there would be plenty of time for Lego to release the entire squadron once the Rebels show is out.

Not sure what the prices are in your area but I wouldnt call microfighters an affordable way to build up an army. Go on bricklink for that and you would get the clones very cheap.

I'm not complaining about these sets at all. It is a perfect opportunity for collectors/buyers to give their wallets a rest and at the same time to "fatten" their minifigure collection.
  19. legolandia

LEGO Star Wars 2014 Pictures and Rumors

However dont forget that it is very likely that the microsets will have a unique version of their minifigure (i.e. it will be slightly different from the same character in another set). Most of the planets series did.

I would definitely purchase a UCS AT-AT. As for the sandcrawler, I do hope that Lego does not bother. Who on earth would want another sandcrawler UCS when there are so many more important vehicles that could be made?

    Future Star Wars Sets

If Lego applied that logic then they would have not released another x-wing UCS set. I think MF would do really well even at an increased price point. You need to take into account the large increase in the number of LSW fans since the first MF UCS was released. Plus the fact that the MF will feature heavily (I'm guessing) in the Rebels series and SW VII film. Releasing a new MF UCS set in 2015-16 would make very much sense. I'd certainly buy one even at the $600 price point (which is not a lot when you consider that it would probably have almost double the number of pieces of the SSD UCS).

    Future Star Wars Sets

I wouldnt worry too much. The x-wing set the precedent that the same vehicle can be done twice by Lego in UCS version so I am quite sure that the Millennium Falcon (SW's hottest ship) will certainly appear again as a UCS set.

    Future Star Wars Sets

Those Bith musicians from the Mos Eisley cantina are some of the few rare characters that deserve to become a Lego plastic reality. In fact if Lego were clever and released a cantina set that included them and a few of the other famous characters, that set would be certainly one of the biggest best sellers LegoSW has ever had. As well as that I wish that Lego started to bring out a few more capital ships of the Trade Federation, the Jedi Temple, Cloud City and a nice large size UCS Jedi Temple. And I hope that a new UCS version of the Millenium Falcon will also be released in the future.

LEGO Star Wars 2014 Pictures and Rumors

Are we referring to the 2007 UCS set? Brickset list its RRP as £340+ which is the same as the SSD is nowadays (and the SSD sells for 400euro). Was Euro down at the time or are the Euro prices usually infalted? Even at 550 euro the Falcon was not bad because it contained nearly double the piece count of the SSD. And at the time the global recession had not started so people were spending money they didnt have without a care in the world. What I am trying to say is that a 750 euro set would probably sell well if the piece count was good and the item built was something that the collectors are really pining for (i.e. Cloud City, etc ) however in this economic climate I doubt it would be an instant sell out. My friend, here in the UK if a bank goes bankrupt the person is guaranteed to get back £85000 of their saving (from each savings account they have). Which means that if I had £200,000 savings I could put it in 4 savings accounts in different banks and it would all be safe. Also if someone has enough savings to invest in property etc they would most likely buy a £500 Lego set if they liked it without even thinking about investment. And if one had that amount of money it is definitely better to invest it on property than investing it on Lego. Now, in the recession, is the best time to invest in the property market. The property prices, epecially in the London area, are guaranteed to go up. In fact we are in recession and the property prices here in UK still increased by 5.7%. If Lego produced a super collector set in very limited numbers (let's say 2000 worldwide) then yes, it would probably sell out (whether it sells in a day or not would depend on what the set is I would argue). However the fact that Lego got rid of the UCS name suggests to me that they have no intention in entering into the limited/super limited type of business.

LEGO Star Wars 2014 Pictures and Rumors

I think you have either got your prices wrong or Lego charges a fortune in Europe. The most expensive UCS set as far as I am aware is the SSD at 400euro. A 750euro would sell out only if either it is huge (5000 pieces and above) or if Lego made 10 sets in total (maybe this last bit is a bit exagerated but you get my meaning). A 750 euro set in a period of recession is a stupid decision for a company to make and I dont think even Lego (with its huge popularity of the star wars theme) would dare to.
