What's the rush mate? Wait a few months and they will be nicely discounted.

Be patient. Soon loads of Revans will flood the market and yu'll probably be able to get it for around £10.

Not necessarily. Considering that the events of Ep6 and Ep7 will likely be many years apart in the movies it could mean that Lando has probably moved on to better pastures.

    [75059] Sandcrawler

Thank you for the compliment but I'm actually 37 and this is a forum for people to express their opinions. And I can certainly afford it even at full price but that doesnt mean I have to throw money at everything Lego makes. I dont understand where the £0.10 rate has come from? Is it something official? If you are talking about acuracy in respect to the inside then I agree that the new model is a vast improvement. However on the outside the old model was perfect enough. The smooth exterior of the old model looked a lot more like the original version compared to the ugly million stud exterior of the new version which makes the sandcrawler look as if it has caught chicken pox.

I agree, whilst the old set maybe had less playability features or inside detail, on the outside it was a very accurate representation of the onscreen vehicle mainly due to the smooth outside. The new set looks like a farmer took a shot at it with the muck spreading machine. Absolutely horrendous. The price is even worse. Does Lego think that sticking a UCS logo on the outside of the box justifies high prices? The only way I'm going to get this set is if it was discounted on Black Friday.

    Disney buys out Lucasfilm

I agree with you that the EU books went a bit extreme and they caused quite a bit of controversy on a few ocassions. The killing of Chewbacca made no sense at all. The Yuuzhan Vong war was a bit OTT, and so on. At the same time the EU produced some excellent stories and characters which i hope Disney will take note of rather than throw them all in the bin. For me, having read all the books so far, it will feel quite strange in the future to watch and get used to a different reality from the EU one. I just hope that major pre-films characters such as, Revan, Malgus, Gnost Dural, Theron Shan and so on dont get killed completely. In terms of the comics I meant I will sell them rather than throw them away. I understand that Dark Horse have lost the licence but are they not allowed to re-print any of the comics they have brought out so far? I hope the Darth Bane trilogy is used and adapted by Disney. Those three books are some of the most magnificent ones ever written in the EU history.

    Disney buys out Lucasfilm

I own the entire collection of the SW books written for the EU so far. Personally I can say that this news has caused both sadness and joy. It's sad because 150 books are being disregarded and Disney will have "history re-written". Whilst the EU had its fair share of badly written books, it also included a lot if excellently written books (Darth Bane trilogy, Yuuzhan Vong, X-wing series, Karen Traviss books and many more). Whilst I agree that the EU was starting to lose its focus and inspiration at the same time it doesnt deserve to be thrown out completely. No need to throw the baby out with the bath water as they say. What is even more ironic is the fact that despite the EU being re-written the old stuff is being labelled as Legends-a clear attempt to milk more money out of the readers. On the other hand it is joyous news because finally measures are put in place in order to co-ordinate everything (films, books, comics) into canon. And the EU will have artistic direction for the future. And i suppose neither Disney nor any potential future owners fo the franchise will be able to throw away books written from now on. I think I'll hold on to the books for the sake of nostalgia but the comic collection will have to go.

Not sure where this has come from because it was Disney that announced after take over that they actually intend to bring out SW releases on several fronts and through various formats (films, animated series). I am quite confident that Disney will expand and bring something out for all the various eras of SW timeline.

Well, if Lego's sets will depend on what Disney wishes to promote then the OT sets may not get a chance in the future. Ah, so the new AT AT is actually bigger than the 8129? That is not the impression that some of the previous posts give hence why I was confused.
  11. legolandia

LEGO Star Wars 2014 Pictures and Rumors

Considerably smaller or just a little bit? I need to buy an AT AT since I have never bought any of the previous versions so far. Wondering whether to get this one or not? Not sure if Lego will release another one in the future considering that it may not feature in future films..

LEGO Star Wars 2014 Pictures and Rumors

Well, the set wouldn't necessarily be a step backwards. Considering the fact that there is demand for a larger than 'normal size' Falcon and also that the first UCSscale Falcon did not sell well due to its high price then a logicl step to take would be to make a Falcon of an inbetween size which would need less parts and keep the price lower. Although, I still believe that since new parts have been added to the inventory since the first Falcon and also the building methods have also evolved, then a UCS scale Falcon at a reasonable size is still possible. The price per piece ratio for the death star is just above 10cent per piece, for the SSD is 12.5cent, and likewise for the ewok village. So if you base your reasoning on that ratio then a 4000 piece count Falcon at $500 is still possible. As for the fans, there will always be those who'll love it and those who'll complain about it, no matter what Lego does.

First i want to say: not sure if we are supposed to talk about the Falcon in here or not. If the former then my thoughts are below, if the later then i apologise in advance to Brickdoctor (and please delete this post if it is not suitable for here). Never say never my friend. You can't be absolutely certain about that since you are not Lego. Even Lego can't be that certain about what they release in the future since it is not entirely dependant on them. And dont forget that the fans' number have increased since then too. The new SW VII film is bound to give the numbers a further boost too. It will certainly create hype and hype definitely sells. Trust me, I have learned that lesson myself through all the years of collecting all sorts of stuff. Where has all the info about what sold and didnt sell well come from? Is it from an official source? How do you know that there are only a few aftermarket sales? Have you kept records? How? If a Falcon with a lot less pieces (1000 or so) was quite good then how can one with 3 times more be the worst set? And as 'hungry' as the fans are at the moment for a Falcon larger than 'normal' they would devour any larger Falcon that Lego brings out. Apart from that the Lego building methods have advanced since the UCS Falcon was last released and new pieces have been added to the arsenal so you never know, Lego may be able to do a great job with less pieces. It's the way of the world really. You can't please all. For every 100 happy ones there wil always be a few that moan about it. It keeps the balance in the Force I suppose

LEGO Star Wars 2014 Pictures and Rumors

Purely speculation since Lego has had a million chances to release it and they havent. You can't make statements such as "I know for a fact" unless you can back it up with a worldwide large scale research/poll/etc.

I dont think it is certain. Most likely the May 4th promo will be something else. That would be very nice indeed. A jedi temple guard can have a yellow lightsaber as well. Amen to that. I have been waiting for one for years but sadly i doubt Lego will ever release it. Doubt Lego would release as a promo (which serves to attract sales) an obscure character which kids are very likely not to recognise. But then again Lego have surprised us in the past with their choices.

Your best bet is ebay or Bricklink. Decent prices compared to the minifigurestore.

Merchandise agreements are made by Disney and not J.J Abrams though and we all know how much Disney loves making money and merchandise. Usually agreements are made with various merchandise companies in advance and said companies are asked to sign a secrecy agreement. Everyone knows that the new movie is a definite hit and as soon as the kids ahve seen it they would drag ther mum and dad to the shops to buy the toys. And Lego and Hasbro are not just "some toy company" but rather the main SW toy makers that generate quite a large revenue. Usually most of the film is finished months before its screening date and adverts start coming out a month or two before the screeneing in order to build hype. So you can bet anything that Lego will make sure most of its best employees are locked in a room somewhere day and night (chained and with plenty of pizza and fizzy caffeinated drink designing the toys for the upcoming movie (Apple style ).

I doubt very much that will happen. In 2015 Lego will very likely be focusing on sets for the new SW VII movie.

Yes I think he means that in point 3 and I do agree with him on that. However point 1 and 2 were more general (unless I am misreading them). I just dont want people to come complaining about prices at the Aston Martin forum

LEGO Star Wars 2014 Pictures and Rumors

This is a thread where people come to discuss the year's new releases in the Star Wars' line. Some people may like the prices, the choice of figures included, the number of bricks used and/or the pricing and some others may not. It is their right to praise or complain about the pricing. We are individuals and have different ideas/opinions. We are not sheep. I think you need to update the understanding of a forum. And by the way, I like Aston Martin and am registered in one of their forums so you inviting people here to go and harass us there is not nice. Just because you havent got enough money to buy an Aston Martin doesnt mean you have to spoil the fun for those who have.

I think Lego is going the same way they did with Jabba's Sail Barge with this set. I.e. smaller and cheaper. Which I quite like since these two vehicles are not particularly that important anyway. I'd much rather have the Falcon and Slave 1 in UCS scale.

My apologies for attributing the saying to Yoda rather than Obi Wan. What I wanted to say through it was that none of us can say whether we are going to have a minifigure or not. I suppose probably even Lego themselves couldnt because no one can predict the future. And my experience with Lego releases has taught me that trying to apply logic to Lego releases doesnt always work. You never know, in the future the original films may be released in 4D or 5D format and Lego may release another updated cantina set and decide to include Ponda baba or whatever else.

People have been aware that Lego stopped using the term UCS whilst continuing to bring out sets which had unique characteristics to the UCS line (such as larger size, more detailed, high price and a couple of them brought out per year). Whilst people stopped taking notice of the detailed technicalities (i.e. What makes a set UCS?) they continue to use the term for lack of a better word. As master Yoda says: "Only the sith deal in absolutes" None of us can be 100% sure if Lego will ever bring out a Bantha or not.

That much for a non-UCS play kit? For that price I would expect Lego to even include the sand (original and freshly collected from Tatooine). I certainly welcome that bit of news. I have held off buying a MF in the hope of Lego releasing another UCS scale. It would certainly stop speculators from riping people off asking extortionate prices and that is a good thing.
  25. I'm not an expert but Lego doesnt price items as they please. Usually the custom's fees, VAT, wages and overheads, and other regulations have something to do with it.
