LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors
legolandia replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Blasphemy . I have really been looking forward to the commando droids. Apart from that we have had that many clones released recently that they are popping out of our ears. The commando droids re-dress that balance. After all the clones need someone to fight -
LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors

I fully agree with you there. Lego has surely noticed the secondary market for minifigures and the prices they go for and has come up with the Planets line to make some profit from the minifigure market. The first 3 in the line that we have seen are probably a test and I hope it goes well so that Lego can continue the series. -

Oh, I am really loving the planets series. Looks very cool and a good way to get the minifigures for those who cant afford to or dont want to buy the big sets. -

Amen to that because from what I have seen so far looks like we will be starved for new minifigures in 2012. I hope that is not the case. -
LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors

I know we should be grateful for any sneak peeks we get along the way but I don't understand why Lego are coming down hard on leaked pics? After all they have no competition to worry about and the leaked pictures do increase the hype which works to their benefit. Back on topic. Is there any more information on this Planets subtheme? Sounds quite interesting and if I am not mistaken quite a clever way of collecting minifigures of different characters. Do we actually get a planet from the Star Wars universe or does it mean that the mini fig and vehicle are inside a clear plastic ball (rather than in a cardboard box)? -

I am glad to finally see the Amidala minifig finally released (in all her glory I might add). And loving the new astromech head too. -
Wow, Lego are certainly pushing it a bit too much with the prices. £350 for a set that contains 3200 bricks is a hell of a lot of money. I really wanted to get this set but at that price I don't think I will bother.
-
That's what I have been wondering as well. The head does indeed look different.

You were doing so well with the first 3 agreements. Why did you go and ruin it with the last disagreement? Don't get me wrong, I would love Lego to listen to its customers by all means. How much they do is an unknown for any of us non Lego employees I suppose. My point is that for as long as I have been a member in this forum I remember that one person or another has always had something to complain about a particular set. As a matter of fact i can't remember a particular set that has been unanimously welcomed. Everytime we have had the prelim pictures for the upcoming sets people have always pointed out the good and the bad things about it. In the majority of times Lego has not made any modifications/improvements based on complaints/suggestions made here. As a matter of fact I remember one recent set where people were excited that we would get Quinlan Voss and when the set was released Lego had actually taken that minifig out. That tells me that opinions given in this forum do not have much weight on Lego's decision or are not taken much into account in their research. And although people have always moaned about the sets the majority of them have sold pretty well. Therefore not listening to people in here has not really driven Lego into the oblivion. I don't mean this to sound disrespectful but the 20-30 people that complain here are the most hardcore fans and even if those people decided not to buy a particular set it wouldn't make a dent in Lego's profits. The term "compromise solution" that you have used above is totally out of place because there is no large scale open conflict between Lego and buyers over the SSD set. This is just a picture found somewhere. Lego didn't come out with the picture and asked for buyers opinions about what they think. Sorry to be pedantic but I think that using that term makes this small monologue appear more important than it is (I say monologue because it is held by some lego fans as opposed to a dialogue between Lego and Fans). Everyone has a right to express their opinion about sets and that's what the forum is for. But no Lego star wars set is going to be 100% perfect. But when we get a picture of an upcoming set why can't people just admire the nice things about it instead of jumping straight for the negative points? The moaning has increased quite fast recently (I am talking generally about the Lego Star wars sets) and is becoming fastidious. Yet, at the same time Lego's success, sales and profits have noticeably increased. That shows me exactly all the market driven economics that matter.

I can sympathize with your pain but at the same time Lego is not forcing anyone to buy its sets. Personally I buy a commodity because it makes me happy and gives me pleasure. If it doesn't I don't buy it. TLG can choose to do as they please. It doesn't have an obligation to ask anyone about what to make or how to make it. Sorry to sound harsh but it's the truth.

I just don't get it. Why all this upset about the minifigs? All Lego has done is add some extras (i.e. minifigures and mini SD) to a UCS set. Nothing wrong with that. After all adding the minifigs to the SSD doesn't mean that the SSD is less detailed. Ultimately whatever Lego does there is no way to please everyone. People will always find something to moan about.

I fully agree with this one. It is long overdue. An iconic building and a great opportunity for some great minifigures which we wouldn't be able to get with other sets (for example Jocasta Nu, younglings, etc).

Legostein thank you very much for the Midi designs. The Venator is absolutely superb. And may I say, looking at the earlier models on your website I was chuffed to find a model of the Jedi temple. As a matter of fact I am surprised that Lego hasn't come up with with a large size model of the temple. It is an iconic building in the Star Wars saga.

$20 is not a bad price considering that some "very nice person" on Bricklink is asking $99.99 for one of these although I doubt they will sell any at that price for a few years. lol After all lcs hasn't done anything wrong but purchased a product that the shop was selling and he is selling it on at a very reasonable price. In my opinion give it a month or two and these will go down in price to around $15 but definitely not lower than that.
-
So that, that way it is a new version/colourway of the same minifigure and it makes the collectors buy it.
-
Guys, do you reckon the minifigure will be sold on Bricklink by private sellers? I would love to have the minifig but dont need any of the current sets.
-
I'm glad Lego is releasing a SSD. It's bout time. I think though that Lego should have used some translucent light blue bricks in the city scape in order to give the impression that the lights are on. After all the SSD is always in space which is always dark so the lights are always on and therefore it would have made sense to use those bricks.

Surely the advent calendar will come out in Nov-Dec?

KimT give it a try to make that frame. It cost me only £25 to buy all the materials and it's very easy to build. I used to have a large collection of Lego Star Wars ships and vehicles but when my daughter was born I had to sell the lot. However I made it clear to my girlfriend that I was not going to give up the minifigure collection . -

Thank you very much everyone. I bought both sets of cubedudes. The bounty hunter set didn't include boba so I bought the bricks separately and built it based on the instructions. Thank you. Built the display myself, painted it white and glued 2x10 white bricks on all the horizontal areas to stand the minifigs on. Is boga the animal that Obi Wan rode when chasing Grievous? If yes then I do have it. Boga and the mini spider droid are displayed separately because they are a little bit wide to stand on the display. It's taken 4 years, around GB£3000 and endless hours on bricklink + ebay to get them at a decent price. I must admit that 2010/2011 sets have had the most new minifigs. I hope Lego will continue to introduce new characters. I pray that Lego will bring out a Kaminoan minifig (it's the only custom minifig that I have added to my collection). -

Here are some updated pictures of my collection. 1 figure of each of all the Star Wars characters Lego has ever made including the different colorways, eyes, etc, etc. The only ones missing are 2 variants of Luke Skywalker, Bobba Fett with printed legs and gold plated C3PO. -
Any idea when and where they will be sold?
-
Considering that the advent calendar is really for kids I don't see anything wrong with its contents. The criticisms in this point are made based on the viewpoint of collectors I think. However what I think is wrong is the actual price of the calendar (which is way too high considering its contents). Personally as a parent I wouldn't buy the calendar for my kids coz of the price and as a collector I wouldn't buy it either coz of its contents.
-
For that amount of Money I hope it will be an exceptional advent calendar.
-
Well hopefully we might get a surprise not-previously-released minifigure in the last window of the advent calendar.
