LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors
legolandia replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Does anyone know for certain what the score with the Darth Maul and TC 14 is? I mean will these be included in promotional offers or other giveaway events? Also, which one is a rarer figure, Maul or TC14? -
Wow, I don't often venture out of the Lego Star wars forum seas (pun intended ) but I must say that this is a magnificent creation.

The price of this minifigure will most probably drop down to the same as the white mandalorian. There's no way that I would give my money at those greedy current sellers that ask for £50+ -

I agree that they do in depth shows. What I don't like is the guy who presents the show. He is just so fake with his "enthusiasm" and his voice is sooo annoying. -

Lego would not release the same gold C3PO again. They may release variations of it but not the same. I thought I was mad enough when it came to Lego SW minifigs but I still refuse to pay £100+ for a Lego minifigure. Did you buy it at recent prices? -

Thank you for that. The last three pages (before the several clean-ups) were starting to look like wishing wells. -
I really like the design of this and the price is not bad at all. However, my only concern is that it is mainly made of white bricks and they have a tendency to yellow as time goes by. The set will also need to be housed in a glass display in order to protect from dust, etc which would show quite a lot on white. I'm not 100% decided on this one so will have to wait and see.

Grievous has orange eyes too and it could be a Chrome Pearl White General Grievous. The only characters that Lego has ever produced in chrome are famous ones with armour or metallic body. -

I just can't believe the lengths that some people go to. Surely rather than wasting precious hours of your life messing around one can simply wait for a little bit and buy these figures at very decent prices (sometimes even cheaper) on Bricklink. -

Not quite sure if this is the right place but here's a look at the 2013 packaging: Photo courtesy of Yakface and Theforce.net -

It's actually $10 more expensive if I'm not mistaken. -

I'm not saying the minifigure is perfect. But it certainly is not as bad as people are making it to be. Plus it is likely that it is a prototype and will change. If you look at the picture of the custom Padme her mouth is too low too. The only difference between the custom and the Lego figures is that the upper lip is bigger in the custom which makes it look better. The hairpiece and the eyebrow shape in the custom are better too. -

I don't understand what you guys are complaining about? Correct eyes? - Check Big mouth? - Check Huge ears? - Check I'd say that it is a 95% accurate representation of the character. What would have made it 100% is if Lego would have printed the red gloves on her wrists. If you wish to blame someone then blame LucasArts for drawing her that way. -

just check Bricklink Are you saying that all this time you have been under the illusion that Lego Star Wars were toys made for adults? The main target audience has always been kids just like the main target audience for the Clone Wars series has always been kids too. -
Ah I see. The word is given a sort of "slang" meaning (for lack of a better word) that is used by Lego fans only.
-
I am not quite sure in what context the word "purist" is used in this thread. Is that purists as those who like as pure a representation of a figure and accessories as possible? Or is it purists as in those who like the old style Lego minifigures (i.e. as simple as possible)?

Well, staring directly at the sun hurts your eyes too but I don't think anyone is going to start making a sign big enough to say "Warning! Staring directly at may hurt your eyes". I think we are getting too much obsessed with warning signs everywhere and are forgetting to put more trust in the judgement capabilities of our sons and daughters. If the kids stare into the light once and it hurts their eyes they aren't going to do it again are they?

If you are talking about members of this forum then you are probably right. However there is a generation of kids out there that for the past 4 years has been fed on CW material. And those kids (which I would have thought considerably outnumber the collectors here) the are Lego's primary market. -
I'm not entirely sure but I don't think we can discuss prices here. If I am mistaken I do apologize.

I can see where you are coming from but I have to say that yours is a very 'doom and gloom' view of this subject. You are comparing the first LSW minifigures with those last year. Well, you can't expect that they would remain the same in 10+ years. The technology has advanced considerable to start with and therefore producing more detailed minifigures is easier and cheaper. Plus there's such a thing called evolution as opposed to stagnation. I am not quite sure how you can say there's going to be "huge difference in the look of the minifigs just between last and this year"? Where is this huge difference? The minifigures have retained their original shape perfectly (torso, legs, arms, head and height) and that's what is important. For special characters there are going to be special molds produced but that has been done since the beginning anyway (Yoda, Chewie, ewoks etc) so there's no change there. In 3 to 5 years time we will be in exactly the same position. There will be a cape more here and a few more details there but the basic shape will remain the same. And there will still be some people who will dislike them and other who will love them. In the end though the majority are still going to buy them -

I agree with you on Padme, however unfortunately the characters are sometimes so bland in the films themselves that there's only so much that Lego can do. Malevolence is the only existing official Lego produced Confederate ship which can be used as an opponent to Venator. The Clone Wars era is also quite substantial and important in SW history and therefore saying that it is "less appealing to AFOLs" is a very big generalisation (and quite probably wrong). Although I do agree with you that it probably will take the back seat when compared to Jabba's palace and skiff. -

I posted about Malevolence a page or two back but it went unnoticed. It seems people are more bothered with Jabba's Palace and the skiff. That Darth Maul minifigure has already been printed and is being released/handed out at the toy fair if I'm not mistaken. So I doubt the design will change much. -

The Malevolence most certainly is looking  . Especially with the amount of detail that the stickers/printed areas add to it. I am definitely buying all the summer wave sets this time (with the possible exception of the Gungan sub).
