Good lord! Lego staff have either lost their inspiration or they have kept it low key bringing out some mediocre sets so that they do not steal the show from the other themes that Lego is bringing out. Still looking on the positive side my wallet is going to have a break since I am limiting myself to getting just the minifigures.
-
Does this mean that 2013 will see only The Hobbit sets or will we get any LotR sets as well? (Pardon my confusion).
-
I actually hope we dont get Cody. We have already had a Cody previously and if Lego decided to bring another one out I very much doubt that they will redesign him since the design is quite new.
-
You think that is not a gentle warning?!? You probably havent had a chance to experience the sharp end of KimT's tongue, pen keyboard then.

I have no particular dislikes for the various sub-themes. I love them all the same. In fact, I don't even see them as sub-themes but rather as a whole evolving story. In my opinion the more SW films (animated or not) we get the better. They simply add to the SW Universe and expand it even more and present companies like Lego with more opportunities to bring out new figures and sets. My only wish is that Lego becomes a bit more "daring" with the sets they bring out. I.e. they start to bring out more Separatist ships and hopefully continue with "architectural" sets (like Jabba's Palace) and bring out stuff like Jedi Temple or Senate Building, etc.

I have no idea why people can't just enjoy what they already have rather than crying over what they may not have? We have a video of the Lego CEO saying that the LoTR line is doing really well and rumors of the second wave sets. Lotr itself is a theme that has a huge following worldwide and it appeals to kids considerably too. Why would Lego loose faith?!?

Definitely not any better for the UK because by the time one paid all the taxes and other import duties it would bring the price to the same prices in UK or higher even.

This is not the place but I just couldn't resist: Are you joking with that last part of your statement? iPhone may be a simple telephone but its sales make more in a year than the entire Lego business does. How can a Lego Star Wars toy be "much more important" than one of the most legendary products of this century? To answer your question, the majority of photos that you find in a Mac site are fakes and speculations. The real pictures start leaking only a few weeks/month before the launch date. The same thing with Lego Star Wars.

I think it is really funny when we start to distinguish between The Hobbit and LotR as one being for kids and the other for adults considering that the former is the prequel to the latter. And especially when this kind of distinguishing is made by adults who collect kids toys. When it comes to Lego SW or LotR, kids and AFOLs are not that much different from one another.

I am happy with the battle packs and glad that the legendary Z-95 has been finally released. Glad to see the Planet sets continued too and I hope that Lego continues to do so in the years to come. Disappointed that Kamino doesn't come with a Kaminoan (Lego, what were you thinking?) but let's hope that TLG will correct that mistake in the second wave of 2013.
-
Or at least we need a Kaminoan. We have the clones and Boba Fett's dad (Jango) and now we need their mum (Kaminoans)

+1. I've been praying for a long time for a Nebulon B.

Higher prices in Europe
legolandia replied to stephen_rockefeller's topic in General LEGO Discussion
That would be very nice indeed but the problem is that all goods purchased from the US of the value of GBP£15 or more gets taxed by the customs here upon arrival. And on top of that in UK we have to pay a £8 fee to the Royal Mail for retrieving the parcel from the customs. So by the time you paid all that it works out a lot more expensive than the local price. This is something that has been in place for a long time and has derived from the so called "banana wars". And I believe that US citizens would have to pay the same sort of fees if they purchased goods from Europe. -
Why is it such a ridiculous concept? Lego has historically moulded the large animals in the Star Wars line. So a moulded rancor is a logical continuation of the tradition. As a minifigure/character collector I am very happy that Lego decided to do so. From the playability point of view a brick built Rancor would be not only too big but also too fragile to play with and complete;y out of proportion with the rest of the sets of the same theme (Jaba's palace, skiff, etc).

I would love to see Lego make your avatar picture into a set. It would be a very nice and iconic sculpture/set.

So far I have managed to resist getting into collecting the LotR series since keeping up with Star Wars is more than enough. But after seeing Bag's End set my resistance has crumbled. I have to have the Bag's End set and one of each of those other lovely characters from the other sets
-
The Rancor is looking great and the minifigures are nice (especially Malakili, the rancor keeper). The Rancor pit itself is quite average and what has made it appealing is its ability to integrate with the rest of Jabba's Palace. I sincerely do hope that Lego has decided to bring out a Jedi Temple set in 2013. It is waaaaaay overdue.

How much is your SW collection worth?
legolandia replied to Admiral-Ackbar's topic in LEGO Star Wars
In all honesty I am not quite sure how to price my collection. I own 5 of the big ships + SSD + latest X-Wing. I guess those total at around £700- £800. However I also own all the Star Wars minifigures Lego has ever made (minus Cloud City Bobba and Gold Chrome C3PO). And I am talking everything from the little mouse droid, to the big animals, Sarlac and all the variations and colourways ever released (around 450 in total). Now, I am not quite sure how to price that minifigure collection (I suppose if i were to be lazy and average the price to around £6 per minifigure then it would probably be worth around £3k). -

Did Lego list all the new sets on their online shop a few days ago and has taken them down now? Or have I been drugged and experiencing halucinations for the past few days? -

What is exclusive about them? I am getting tired of Lego's lazy designers . All they do is slap a new face on old figures and label them as new. They could have at least changed the design of the clothes slightly. And Lego has the courage to demand such a high price for such a rubbish set? It is absolutely pathetic The only exclusive thing about those minifigures is the gold handle of Palpy's saber. -

I agree, adding Satine would have made the set so much more "sellable". But Her hair is way to fancy and I guess it would have been complicated to produce. -

Not necessarily...the new mold can be used for other huts (like Ziro). That is the same for all the other clones or troopers that Lego has released. They have different helmets and the rest is just printing. -

Overboard with the price? Definitely yes in my opinion. Will those 7 figures appear elsewhere? I bet you they won't. -

@faefrost and @Gory51: Please read the rules about posting in this thread. I think 1500 bricks would be enough for a B-wing UCS scale. The wings are quite thin so they dont need that many bricks.
