  1. Very well done 'quy' I could definitely see TLG releasing a set like this. I think you nailed that aspect of the contest. The set info at the beginning of your entry certainly adds to the level of professionalism. The details are lovey, but not too intricate that they detract from the TLG feel of the set. Also, I know you said you took the name from TLG, but Ignacia? That doesn't sound Japanese at all. More like Spanish
  2. I could definitely see TLC releasing something like this for NinjaGo! It stays true to the theme and I like the use of NinjaGo! bricks. Maybe you should add a little skeleton vehicle or something since most NinjaGo! sets have one. Also the photography is really great, and the snow really adds to the professional look of the set.

D2C Contest: Curse of the Mummy

This is an excellent MOC with a lot of great techniques! The colors are outstanding and the vehicles are very detailed. but as other people have said before me, it doesn't really look like something TLG would make, and that's kinda the point of the contest... Maybe you should remove the brick built base and the rock wall. Nonetheless, probably the best Pharaoh's Quest MOC I've seen.
  4. I picked this set up at TRU the other day. With out further adeau, I present... Review 2: The Fight for the Dagger Set Information Set Number: 7571 Pieces: 258 Set Line: Prince of Persia The Sands of Time Price: $29.99 US Release Date: April 2010 The Box Front I like the market scene used for the background Back An overview of the set, which displays the play functions. Contents Two bags of pieces, and a camel in its own individual bag fresh from China. Parts de-bagged. The cape and red cover came in cardboard packages inside the bags. Mmm, I see lots of tan. Pieces of Interest A dark tan 2 by 2 jumper plate, pin, and trap door, as well as a 2 by 1 brick and half-arch in the new color. In addition, we have a new whip piece in brown, and the new quarter dome piece in pearl gold. Instructions Front, featuring same picture from boxart. One small color problem I found in the instructions. The 2 by 6 plate is dark brown, but it's very hard to distinguish. Mini Figures The Cast Asoka Front Asoka has some very nice pearl gold armor. Without the body plate he has the same torso as the market salesman. Lets take a closer look at those accessories Yes folks, that is a pearl silver spear. The peral gold body plate and Dagger of Time are also stunning. Market Salesman Front With chicken leg and knife. Back This torso features an excellent back print. Without Head Wrap I reallly like the face print on the salesmen. Princess Tamina Front This is a beautiful figure. Back Lovely cape and braid. Reverse Expression Dastan Front I figure that everyone is farmiliar with his sword carrier, and he has no back printing, so I won't show him from behind. Note that he does have a reverse expression on the back of his head. The Build Part One: Camel The camel is very nice and I thought the crate carrier was brilliant. The new whip piece is used as a thether. Inside the crates we find three jewels and three cherries. Part Two: Fruit Cart and Stand The dark brown 2 by 6 plate is used for the stand, and two 2 by 2 dark tan jumper plates are used in the base of the cart to keep the apples in place. Part Three: Tower and Walkway Halfway through the traps are in place, and the frame of the building is done. The complete tower and walkway. I like the little pieces of vegitation and the dark brown torches, as well as the fish rack. The red cover is held in place by this brown pole. Back view. Here you can see the two pearl gold pins used to activate the traps. Finished Product Extra pieces Play Features Trap One: The Falling Balcony Our fried Asoka will demonstrate. Ouch! This is a neat little feature. Trap Two: The Trap Door Despite his painful injury, Asoka is as willing as ever to demonstrate. Pull the pin and Asoka comes tumbling down. Extras The market sure is crowded today. Another arrangement I find that these two sets go very well together. Rating When I saw the prelims for Prince of Persia I new this was a set worth picking up, and I still feel that way. This is one of the best market scenes LEGO has produced. It includes plenty of produce to sell and a camel . The Minifigures are outstanding and the scene is just beautiful. Mini Figures: 10/10 Another outstanding cast of minifigures. Prince of Persia doesn't dissappoint. The salesman and Asoka are my favorites. There accessories are outstanding and Asoka's armor is a must have. Build: 9/10 A very smooth build although a bit simple for my taste. A couple interesting techniques are used for the fish rack and camel stand. Pieces: 10/10 Amazing selection of pieces in beautiful colors, including 20 half arch pieces in the new color. There are a lot of pearl gold pieces as well. All PoP sets have an amazing parts selection and this set is no different. Price: 10/10 258 fabulous pieces for $29.99 is as close as it gets as far as price to parts ratios go. I'm not complaining. Playability 9/10 Two great play features and lots of minifigs. The possibilities are endless. Dastan could resue Princess Tamina or fight for the dagger as the name suggests. Still, there could be more added. Perhaps some more objects for Dastan to climp/jump on? Overall 48/50 Amazing set. What are you waiting for? Go get yourself one! Comments appreciated. A poll would be nice too.

    MOC: Ninjago Training Hideout

Whoa I don't remember seeing preliminary pictures of this set. Is it an exclusive that went under the radar? Oh wait it's a MOC!!! Very well done 'TheBrickster' I honestly thought this was an official TLG NinjaGo set when I saw the cover picture. I'd love to see some pictures of the interior if there is one. I love your piece usage and the combination of NinjaGo and classic Ninja elements. The printed slope pieces and the printing revolving door are charming while the colorful figures remind us it's NinjaGo.

    REVIEW: 5972 Space Truck Getaway

I know this set has been out for a while now but it wasn't until a couple of days ago that my local Target store finally put out all of their summer 2009 sets. Seeing as it hasn't been reviewed yet (I think), I decided to buy it and post a review. Name: Space Truck Getaway Set Number: 5972 Theme: Space Police III Year: 2009 Pieces: 282 Minifigs: 2 Price: $29.99 US Box, Parts and Instructions The front of the box, depicting the usual box art and wanted criminal poster Back of the box depicting functions of the set (flick-fire missle, crate opening, and swinging laser turret) Inside the box we have 4 numbered bags, a medium sized instruction manual, and a sticker sheet. The Instructions, as usual, have the same image as the front of the box. Random page: Contents of the box: Sticker sheet: (Sorry for the blur) I think there are about 18 stickers, but they really make the set look better. Parts De-bagged: lots of yellow, bley and black. Pieces of interest: The new flame piece, technic wings, and big yellow panel are new to me Minifigs Our minifig cast: Snake and Space Cop with reversable head Space Cop Back without helmet and jetpack: Space Cop Side with helmet, jetpack and flick-fire missle launcher: Snake Front: Snake Front without helmet: Snake Back: Snake's Awsome Helmet: (it deserves its own picture) The Build We start off with building the frame that will hold up the container and the cab of the space truck Here is what it looks like at the end of the first bag: Next we build the container and add on some detail to the space truck End of bag two: Oh, and it opens to reveal a stolen laser turret The crate is attached to four of those plates with technic pin holes and then is attached via technic pins to the frame The final stage of the build adds on the thruster engines: I wouldn't want to get hit by that space truck Oops, I spoke to soon... Top View: The Space truck has quite a large wing-span. Back view: Bottom View: As you can see, the bottom of the container is open. Close up on graffiti: And the other side: Close up of laser turret: Notice the vandalized police signs and the control panel piece View of the cockpit from behind: The Back of the cockpit isn't closed and is flush with the front wall of the container. Snake cant reach the steering wheel because he has to lay back in the cockpit because of the low ceiling. I guess he drives with his feet Extra Pieces: Lots of studs and cheese slopes! Bonus Pics!!! Flick-Fire Missle VS Laser Turret Crime Doesn't Pay, Just Ask SNAKE'S Face Final Thoughts When I first saw this set in the prelim pics I didn't really like it. The entire set is pretty much taken up by a huge, ugly, yellow crate, and the truck looked like it didn't even have space for a cockpit. However, after learning more about it and seeing it in person, I really like it. I even think that it is one of the best sets in the space police III line. I love the design of the truck; it looks like a rugged semi-truck beefed up for space travel. All the little details on the engines and the cab of the truck and the sticker designs really add to the overall feel of the set. The idea of the set is really neat. A band of space criminals steal a storage crate containing top-secret police technology and use it against the police themselves. The swiveling function of the laser turret and the way the crate opens up are really cool. I would definitly recommend this set. Ratings: Minifigs- 8/10 Two minifigs in a $30 set is expected and the minifigs are pretty nice, although they are very common in the Space Police III lineup. The printing on the legs and front and back of the torsos is very detailed and snake's helmet is a must have. Parts- 10/10 282 pieces is just about right as far as the piece to price ratio goes, especially compare to other $30 sets. The piece selection is nice and many new pieces appear in this set. Playability- 9/10 Although it would be nice to have a vehicle for the space cop, there are tons of possibilities as far as playability goes. For example, the cop could pull over the space truck and then get surprise-attacked by the "precious cargo." Price- 10/10 You definitly get your money's worth for this set. Good amount of parts. Good amount of minifigs. Overall- 9/10 Definitly worth buying Thanks for reading! comments, questions and picture requests would be appreciated!

    Review: 8403 Family Home

Excellent review 'Rufus.' A agree with Svelte about the dull color scheme. Anything but bley, white and red. Overall it is a nice set that stands out from the usual City line up. I can't say that I'll pick it up though, as I don't collect City sets. As for the genetic confusion, I believe it is possible for two parents with dark hair to have a child with red hair, as long as both the parents have a recessive red hair gene, and they both pass that gene on to their child. Also the QWERTY keyboard has been featured in numerous City sets in the early 2000's and late 1990's. I remember one of the first Police HQs featuring several of the printed tiles.

    Missing Toy Story Characters

That's a good start, but isn't babyface a lot bigger? I think you should try it in a larger scale, with a bunch of technic pieces for the arms/legs. I'm not really sure where to start with the head though...
  9. Signed! Although it is very unlikely this will happen, I'm all for it. Power Miners might be my favorite theme that TLG has produced in the last several years. It did, after all, bring me out of my dark age; however, after the disappointing 2010 January wave, it is very improbable that TLG will release one last big set. Instead, it seems much more probable that Power Miners will suffer the same sad fate as so many other themes before it; that is, it will fizzle out of existence without hardly anyone noticing. I know that someone (see EDIT) has already mentioned this, but I think it would be a great idea to have a Eurobricks contest to design "the last big Power Miners set." I think this would give PM fans the same satisfaction that they would receive from one last big PM set, and it is a much more practical idea. EDIT:credit to 'lightningtiger' for the contest idea.
  10. Wow, this is a great idea Svelte! A perfect opportunity to show off the awsome-ness that is Prince of Persia. I have a lot of ideas and I look forward to seeing what other people come up with!

LEGO Prince of Persia MOC - Alamut Gate

This is simply inspirational. You have truly out done yourself this time Svelte. All the small details are what make this MOC great. Prince of Persia might be the best theme for MOCs TLG has every made. Look at all those pieces in such beautiful colors. I will definitely make time to create some Prince of Persia MOCs in the future.

    7570 REVIEW: Ostrich Race

Great review. Two reviews are definitly better than one. I might have to get this set just for Sheik Amar. I that back printing on the torso. Oh, and two ostriches wouldn't be a bad addition to my collection. The pictures are great, although you might want to use a flat white background next time. I rated above average, mainly because of the minifigs.

    REVIEW: 7569 Desert Attack

It's not often that I get the opportunity to be the first person to review a set here on Eurobricks, so when I saw that my local TRU had all of the new Prince of Persia sets, I decided to pick up a couple that hadn't been reviewed yet. It has been a while since I reviewed a set, so forgive me if my review isn't quite up to par. (Also, sorry in advance for the poor lighting on the pictures ) Review 1: Desert Attack Set Information Set Number: 7569 Set Line: Prince of Persia The Sands of Time Pieces: 57 Minifigs: 3 (plus one skeleton) Animals: 1 horse Cost: $10.99 US Release Date: April 2010 The Box Box Front Box Back Contents Inside we find two bags, a horse, a dark tan bush, and the instruction sheet. Instructions:Random Page The MiniFigures The minifigs are definitly the reason to get this set. They are incredibly detailed and a must have for PoP collectors. This set in particular showcases the new weapons and accessories featured in the Prince of Persia line. Hassassin #1 Front Back Front without head wrap Hasssassin #2 Front Back Front without head wrap Dastan Front Back (featuring double sided head expression) Horse Another reason this set is a must have is the beautiful horse. It is heavily printed with sand blue and gold. With Saddle Without Saddle Saddle Alone (Yes, it is sand blue. Unfortunately the lighting makes it look dark bley... ) The Build Not much to see here folks... Pieces of interest Of course the exclusive dark tan bush, as well as some dark tan plates and slopes. The spear is Dark Brown, and the vegitation is dark bley. Final Product The ONLY play feature Isn't that nice? Some hidden jewels for the kiddies. But what do you expect in a set this size? Extra Pieces Hurray! An extra attachable claw! Final Thoughts For what it's worth, it's a good little set. Great minifigs and some nice rare pieces. Again, there isn't much more to be expected from a set this size. Rating Minifigs 10/10 By now everyone should know how outstanding the minfigs are in the Prince of Persia line, and this set is no exception. The set includes great new weapons and accessories and amazing front and back printings on the figs. Build 5/10 There isn't a whole lot you can do with 57 pieces, but the rare parts and minifigs make up for it. Pieces 9/10 For a set this size, it has an great selection of rare, useful pieces. Price 8/10 I'm not one to whine about price, but 57 pieces for 10.99 isn't too fair. However, you do get a lot of rare pieces Playability 7/10 Dastan can be ambushed by the Hassassins and find the secret treasure. That's about it. Overall 39/50 Not too bad at all. I would definitly recommend this set for PoP fans. Don't forget to comment! Also, look for my review of Fight for the Dagger coming soon.
  14. Great review as always Svelte! Although I have to say I'm not very fond of this set. I don't find it very visually appealing at all. The only part of the set that I think is designed well is the gate with the lion heads. And I hate the big saw piece. It doesn't fit in well at all. I guess the light brick is a nice touch, but I think it looks out of place. Nearly everything this set has to offer is availible in other Prince of Persia sets. All the minifigs are in other sets except for the Hassassin leader, who is availible in a key chain. (I don't really like him anyway though. His torso isn't very detailed and his headwrap comes with other figs.) And there is plenty of dark nouget and dark tan in other Prince of Persia sets. I just don't see any reason to pick this one up. Edit: spelling
  15. Great review Svelte! Great picture quality and commentary as always. But do I detect a bit of urgency in your review, perhaps to insure that it is the first? Just kidding! Luckily you will be the first person to review Quest Against Time as I didn't bother picking that one up! I just don't really care for the design of it, but who knows maybe you will persuade me otherwise once you review it?

    The Eurobricks Reviewers Academy

I've already done a couple reviews, and I would now like to learn from the masters. I have plenty of sets to choose from, and I would like to do a review of the Battle of the Alamut. I don't have photoshop though. I use Gimp to edit my pictures. Is that okay? My time is a little limited, but I should have enough to enter the academy.

REVIEW: The Fight for the Dagger

Wow thanks! I really appreciate it, and I look forward to reading your review.
  19. I remember getting this set for Christmas one year. Oh, the memories. Adventures was definitly my favorite line as a kid. This set is quite different from the usual LEGO flagship set in my opinion. The design is interesting and I remember the rust covered slopes were a very new piece to me. Great Review by the way. Excellent photo quality and commentary.

REVIEW: The Fight for the Dagger

No, unfortunatly it doesn't, but all you need is a 2 by 1 dark tan brick because the set comes with two 1 by 2 dark tan plates.

REVIEW: Prince of Persia 7569 Desert Attack

As always, the master set reviewer Svelte delivers an excellent review. I don't really understand the problem with dark flesh printing on the fleshy heads, but maybe that's just me? This really is a great little set, but I rated it average, because compared to the other PoP sets it's just average. Yay! I finally get to review something first, although this review is much better than mine...

    REVIEW: 7569 Desert Attack

Thanks for the comments everyone! I didn't realize how close I was to not being the first person to review this set. Once again I apologize for the poor lighting on the photos. My next review should have better quality photos. Unfortunatley for you I think I'm going to beat you to it. My review should be up tonight.

    Review: 4720 Knockturn Alley

Superb review Inconspicuous. Who could ask for more? Video of the set functions, reference pictures from the movie, and plenty of pictures, Bravo. I remember really wanting this set when it first came out, but I never ended up buying it. However, I did pick up Quality Quidditch Supplies, another excellent HP set. The printed Brain piece is very nice, and I think it only comes in one other set (that Studios Frankenstein's Lab set). Definitly a quality set. 9/10

Lego Grand Emporium 10211 - Time Lapse

... That was amazing. That was so in depth that I felt like I was building the set myself! The Grand Emporium looks like an amazing set for parts. My favorite part is the sky light on the roof, which I didn't even realize was there until now.

    Power miners... ending!?

Alas, it seems to be so But as far as I'm concerned, 2009 was really Power Miner's last year. This years sets just don't match up to last years; All they have going for them are the new rock monsters. It really is a shame. Power Miners must be one of the most successful themes for TLG. Not to mention Power Miners pulled me out of my Dark Age. I must now begin my giant Power Miners diorama/display/homage.
