    HMS Monarch

The gunports are looking more accurate, and you now got a complete line from the windows to the bow. But I personally liked the yellow brick line above the first black line of plates with the gunports, but It's your decission. The problem now could be, that that much black obove the gun stripe could make her look clumsy. Since you now got, probally 3 to 3 2/3 bricks of black. You could change that by re adding the yellow line of bricks or by changing a brick line of black by adding a line of plates in a different color, maybe red. I tried that, with my ship myself, but since it's not ready for any update fotos, I need to improvise ;) The Vesta and Achille has something quite simelar. Another great idea is the railing of Captain Blackmoors Alceste something simelar to what he did, could work for you, too, even in 2 colored yellow/black theme.

Ok, the problem here is, that the gunports are to high inside the yellow stripe to be "acurate" to normal gunstripes... since you got interior, you actually can't really lower them that much more, maybe two plates... in addition to that, you could add another line of black plates, where the hinges are. so you should replace one line of bricks, with three lines of plates. and maybe or generally loose two lines of plates of yellow in general. I try to write it how I would build it: plates black (with the modified plates for the gunports) plates yellow bricks yellow bricks yellow black plates black plates black plates so in all your gundeck below the upper black line is 3 bricks, enough place to for cannons with interior, weels and a tiled deck. Much like in the picture of Perfectionist's Achille: Hope I could help!

She's looking good so far. I really like the thinning of the yellow gunstripe to the bow. a nice color . I jealous of your yellow flags, used for the gunports ... I'm with the Admiral, you should use two masts. But then we end ;) I would make the HMS Monarch a Shooner... but that's just my opinion... Shooner-Rigging. Good work so far.

Achille, a French frigate carrying 36 guns

I totally agree with you, on that scale SNOT-Water wouldn't do it... Only to defend myself, I never called you a Redcoat - just a French Loyalist... but even they fought the British, at least in the Colonies... just wanted to sneak out on the challenge to my ship, since I really wouldn't like to see Achille sunk by mine I myself are undesided, since the redcoats are supposed to be English, the bluecoats are French... I guess I'm still totally Prussian , but since there are no original Prussians frigates from that time, according to what I found on Wikipedia, they are all bought from the English, I guessed I could start building one - and sold her to myself afterwards.

We'll see about that, when it happens ... until then I guess you now got the Vesta on your tail... may the best frenchman win... would make a great Moc, wouldn't it? ....In front of the lovely lighttower of maydayartist... ok we can still dream ;)

    HMS Ares

Thanks for the history lesson about gun counting of Ships, quite interessting nad I didn't need to research it. I just ordered some new parts for the Ares... and until they arrive,I will take it slower, since I have my masters degree essay to write, too the progess will be a little bit slower, as it was before, since I should and hopefully will not brick through nights for quite a will. An hour here and there, but that will be all for the near future. I thought about adding swivels. I still try to find a design I like. but I already placed the fittings for 4 of them on the new deck. I followed your advice and flatten the quaterdeck at the same time... more to come soon.

    The pirates are here!

A Lovly MOC. I really like the small details - like the visor used for the water coming out of the barrel or the shark in the snot water... but I'm still wondering, why the guy in the water is still smiling :) Great work. Good luck with the contest!

    Prussians in the dawn

Looking really great so far, but I would try to make two adjustments, if possible. The Cross looks like the "red cross" - It's more like the Iron Cross... I found a picture: Maybe you could broaden the upper crest a bit and add a chin strap under the cross, if possible. I'm no 3d molding expert so that's your job so I just suggest these thinks - what is actually possible it's up to you. But great work in such a short time.

    Prussians in the dawn

Lovely decals, as always. I really like the Jäger on the far right, with the custom rifle. The shakos look great, too, but maybe, if you try to reshape them for the next batch, make them a little bit smaller in diameter! just a tinny bit, not much, they look great as they are in form, quite good but a tinny little bit to large in my opinion. Have you thought about creating the "Schirmmütze" from the Landwehr Units? I guess it would make a special item for your store. Keep the fantasitc work up :) I'm curious too about the total amount of your custom figs - they look all great in your mocs.

    HMS Ares

OK, I Should have read more of subpages ;) I would go with the placings from the HMS Trincomalee Page - but there where/are only 20 guns on the gundeck and 6 on the quaterdeck - I suppose allmost all of the rest of the guns should be placed there as well and maybe two more on the gun deck. Do you know more? By the way. after studing the stern picture of the HMS Trincomalee, I think I will strip away the 2nd yellow stripe, as well as the complete 3 row of bricks. Since I use the smaller guns I could complete the gunports by simply putting the tiles as upper borderline.

@Matteo1130 It's modular, quite simular to Perfectionist Achille! So no problem to access the gundeck. @Perfectionist & Admiral Croissant Ok, I understand what's wrong with my bow and the headrails - It looks quite odd because of the 2x3 slopes, I guess I'll change most of them back to 2x2 slopes and put the figurehead higher... In the process the bowspit will automaticly be on a sharper angle. The stern will also undergo another rebuild. Thanks again... @Admiral Croissant 38 Guns - No Problem! The Ports are there, I only need to add them later :) even if I read on the HP from the Unicorn, that she had 46 Guns ... ;)

    HMS Ares

Yes we do that, as we did it with the Leda-Class :)... which was my main inspiration after the Admiral showed my a pic about the mast-configuration, which was actually from the HMS Tricomalee Homepage. Sorry about the Name :) I suppose I wrote Artemis because of the female figurehead … and it was quite late… I've got some problems at the moment – first: no money & no parts in the right color for a complete yellow or brown yard/mast combination - and I'm to cheap to pay the prices on bricklink for some parts, like the lattice design windows – only got 2 pairs in white from my Clipper and 1 pair in yellow from the old redcoats flagship) Regarding the toilettes: I haven’t include them at the moment, since never really have seen a real picture of one jet ... I know where they are situated, but that’s all… are they more than just to beans? Yes the deck is modular, quite similar to your lovely frigate. I made the second yellow line on the top deck because it looked quite clumsy all back… The yards will be all-black; I bought some additional black axle connectors… and axles. I like your system for the yards, (3mm tubes inside the round bricks but decided against it, because I didn’t want to build a “black and yellow rip-off” your lovely ship – and I have no tubes ;) ) I wouldn’t call that critism, I'll call that good and useful feedback! @Erdbeereis: Thank you for renaming it, without a pm! I played a bit with the stern and bow today – I’m still not far from happy with the bow… I like the bow … even if the pictures dosen’t show it, the windows are in ca 45 degree angle. That’s why the windows are always open - the didn’t stay shut… must be a French production ;) Bow: Stern: Thanks for any feedback, the past and all to come.

Achille, a French frigate carrying 36 guns

The final pictures turned out great. She's a real beauty! For me the best Frigate so far... and even during the wip a great source of inspiration for my frigate! well down, even if she's a frenchmen ;) I really hope you'll finish her sistership, too. they would look great together!

    HMS Ares

I just want to let you know, I'm still bricking ... ehm I guess It's more like rigging now :) but I'm still on it... Just a little blurry - "late night" teaser... The uppder decks: - completly tiled now... 2 catspans are in place, the wheel as well, and the first 12 smaller guns are in place as well... Some of the yards ... still need to be "rigged up".. The complete building history of the ship so far can be seen here: My Flickr By the way could an Admin rename this topic in "HMS Ares" - My Frigate - work in process. THANKS! So long! Aalak

    WIP Phantom MkII

3 words - a-maz-ing!!! ;) But I'm quite curious. Since I'm not a snot-expert and unexperienced with hinges (because I only got a few Hinge Plate 1 x 4 swivel top yet) ... How did you make the lower area with the thre side-windows and the hinges stable? The dark blue/gold looks really great, especially combination of the goblets and telescopes.

    HMS Ares

I did a complete rebuild... I guess she will be the H.M.S. Spartan or H.M.S. Ares (not shure yet) a kind of "Leda Class" Frigate... Still a lot to do... but I like to share some pictures, while I'm waiting for some Bricklink orders... The new Gun Stripe is yellow, and i used the hinge technic by Captain Green Hair. The new figurhead: The Spartan / Ares The new "small" Great Cabin Updated "Gun-Lamps" Some of the new 12-pounders (with a lot of "proxy-parts") for the upper-decks The new Stern - still w-i-p... waiting for insperation and parts :) Feedback is welcome!

    Custom British Naval Officer

I would go with a shape of a "W" rather than the "n" of the vest. So it would look more like a vest and not like something plugged into the trousers or a husar jacket... I would try something like that: But realy i like the "creme/tan" color. white could be "boring"... Can't wait to see the updated version! Can I order one later? :)

    Custom British Naval Officer

I love the idea of the open coat, even the bicorn looks great - first thing got to my mind, was that your captain reminded me of Adm. Pellew of the Hornblower TV Series... I guess it was the golden rim ... I don't think the hat is too large, it fits... but maybe you can a badge... Great work, couldn't do it myself, my hands are to big to modulate such small tings... WELL DONE!

Great Work, again. Lovely details like the decanter, and the carpet. I really like the blackboard, since I've never seen it before... is it from a Harry Potter set?

Thanks for the inside view! I first thought it might be a Technic connector I'm not familiar with :)

    20 gun frigate 'Vesta'

As I told before, she is a real beauty... ... and a mystery to me, how did you fix the yards to the masts? could you share the secret? thanks!
  23. It's really a great collection... Here are my votes: 9. Nuestra Senora de la Concepcion 2 Points 11. Le Sang Royale 1 point 15. Vesta 1 point 16. Telesell 1 point 18. Achille 2 points

    HMS Ares

3rd rebuild I tried to use the advice of the admiral, so i changed the way of the building the gun deck. I really loved the Artemis of Perfectionist, so I "borrowed" some ideas, like the lamps and the grid to the storage areas, I also build in a small galley - ideas taken from the flagship. The opening on the upper deck will be between the first two masts. But now I face a new problem, since I haven't got enough red or yellow bricks to make a good looking, realistic gunport stripe, so I need your advice please, what color would you choose for that purpose? - white - tan - black - the "Old"-lego grey Is there a site anywhere, who can tell me about color of stripes and there meaning? Here are some updated handyshots - I borrow the cam when she is finished... What do you think about the plancings of the masts, is the third one still ok? or should I place him 2 or 3 studs farer away from the stern? Thanks ahead, for any comment and feedback! :) More at my flickr.
