Technic 2024 Set Discussion
Maaboo the Witch replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Plus, yet another pneumatic Volvo excavator? I love the EW160E (I know, technically it's a material handler) as much as the next witch, but come on! Plus, it would have been nice to see the CAT LAs being used. I wonder if it'll use the DBG rams or the yellow ones. -

Very nice job, although I think I prefer the weirdness of the original combi. -

Also just occurred to me that, in terms of part count, 42175 is the largest Volvo set to date. -

True. The EW160E is also more complex than a standard excavator because of its material-handling loadout and features such as the elevating cab and clamshell. A lot also depends on whether or not the EC230 is pneumatic. -

I'm still thinking that the EC230 is gonna be the same scale as the EW160E. I'm guessing it has the larger part count of the two, given that it's the more complex machine. -

Given that softer track links have appeared in the Liebherr LR13000, I guess that means they'll appear in 42175 as well. -

I'm just relieved 42175 isn't a CON+TROLL set. -

The price is indeed excellent value. And to think a real EC230 costs thrice as much as a standard EC220E! -

Control+ General Discussion
Maaboo the Witch replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks, Roy. Yup, tried restarting my phone and still nothing. Uninstalling the app is the one thing I haven't tried, so I guess I'm stuck with that. EDIT - That worked! Thanks. -
Control+ General Discussion
Maaboo the Witch replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
For some weird reason, most of the vehicle profiles on the CONTROL+ app won't load. It gets stuck on the loading screen, and I can't return to the main screen so I need to close the app. I've tried everything - clearing the cache, turning on Bluetooth before I launch the app, forcing a firmware update on the hub. What's going on? -

Looks better with the original tyres if you ask me. Nice job - we really don't have enough scrapers in Technic. -

I hope the EC230 actually does use a bucket, rather than reusing the clamshell from the EW160E. -

The EC230 is a mid-range excavator, so I'm definitely thinking it'll be at the same scale as the EW160E, seeing as it's more or less the same size. Bucket sizes vary, so it's anyone's guess right now as to what the bucket part is gonna be. -

Wonder if the EC230 is gonna be pneumatic like the EW160E. Or is it gonna use the black LAs from the CAT? -

They'd go great on oil exploration equipment and fuel trucks, though.
