You obvioucly haven't seen the movie or weren't paying attention. It has everything to do with the movie and topic at hand that was being discussed. Where did you here this? ast i heard a couple weeks ago it hasn't even recouped half of its production cost. http://www.mid-day.com/entertainment/2009/...-us-records.htm Although it has broke a U.S. record for release in december, it has hit 236,000,000 world wide. that was just before Christmass. Kind of odd that it would hit $1 billion in profit in less than 1 month after its release.

You are correct. But the trigger on the PS3 controller doesn't feel like a trigger to me. And has minimal travel. Also the trigger was just part of the reason. The whole feel of the controller just doesn't feel right. To small and skinny. Ya, i remeber this feature being on my orignal Xbox, but never cared for it. For racing, it was useless. As you said, minimal travel and very difficult to controll your revs with a button. I don't miss this feature from my Orignal Xbox at all. My console of choice is the PS3, but I still own a XBOX 360 as I wanted to play Lost Odyssey. I prefer the PS3 for many reasons, including; But you still need to charge your controller regaurdless. And if the charge runs out while playing, you need to plug it in to the console. Alot easier to just replace a couple of batteries. I will give you that the PS3 is virtualy stealth. I've only had the turbine sound on one game i have. Other than that its not bad at all. Yes, but it also costs more. And the big hard drive is not standard. It still doesn't even come close to the online comunity of the 360.

Thanks for the links for the rules guys. I wish there were some competions around my area. Sounds like fun! -
Cool topic SWMAN. My first console was an Xbox. I wanted the Xbox because it carried a couple games that i really liked that were exclusive to it. I was surprised buy my girlfriend with an Xbox 360 a month after its release. Even if it wasn't a gift, i still would have preffered a 360 over a PS3 or Wii for a few reasons. 1.- I preffer racing simulators and at the time the 360 had the best selection. To this day i still preffer the game selection of the 360 over other consoles. Namely Forza Motorsports and Project Gotham racing. 2.- Online play on the 360 is by far superior to any other console. 3.- I never liked the controller of the playstation consoles. After a short time of playing the controller hurts my hands and fingers. The controller for the Xbox is much more confortable for me. And for racing sims, i feel the Xbox controller is better due to its index finger trigger. It allows you to gradually controll the speed, versus just pressing a button. Either your full on the trottle, or off. No good. These make the 360 my preffered console.

No. Lego is not stealing your designs. Its just a simple enclosed box trailer. Nothing really special. There's not a whole lot you can do to change that.

I'd alos like to see some pics of the resoration. You said you bought all these gifts for yourself cause your parents say your to old for Christmass, so this leeds me to believe your very young. Not calling you a liar but it is unusual for someone under the age of 18 can aqurie so many expensive things on there own. So i hope you can understand if some people are scepticle. I think it would be really cool to see some pic of you working on your ride as well as some interior shots as well as the engine. Speaking of engine, what motor is in it?

My Avatar is the camaro concept from the Transformers movie's. So yes, i am a big Transformers fan. I collect animated and movie figs along with a few universe and alternator figs. one of my favorite being ROTF Devestator i recieved for Christmass! I also like collecting 1:18 and 1:24 scale diecast cars. My favorites are police cars.

I like your last truck the best! Lots of storage compartments and tools! Very uniformed fleet. Now you just need a garage to house your fleet!
-
Nice moc. But i must admit, i agree with others that it would have looks alot better in 6 or 8 wide. The rig is far to long for 4 wide. But your drilling rig is perfect!

The portal axle does not have supension, but raises the center line of the axle higher than the centerline of the wheel. They use geared hun asembely to conect the axle to the wheels. The advantage is higher ground clearance and lower gearing for off roading. The disadvantage is more moving parts and higher engine RPM's. great for 4wheeling, not so much for everyday driving to to the lower gearing. I've always been curious about truck trials. where do they take place? how does one go about entering a truck? Are there rules? -
I did a review on this set when it first came out. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?...mp;hl=5150+Lego I highly recomend it! $45 i believe is $5 higher than it retailed for, but loking at ebay, you'd be paying much higher prices than that. Pick it up. You won't be disapointed.

This is a fantastic classic set! I remeber wanting this set as a child, but never got it. I'm going to look it up on Ebay right now! Thank you for the review!

???? What? I'm confuzed. -
Agreed. And anyways, its not like they can't be used for other mocs. Trains, helicopters, spaceships.... One just has to be creative. I think many fail to understand that these sets primary target are kids age 6-12 and not for adults. kids have, and always will be the first to be taken into concideration when designing these sets. These "large" planes while not popular with the AFOL community , have proven very succesfull with the target audience. Manily kids. And while the peices might be big, they have proven to offer vast usability. Again, one just has to be creative.

What Lego Technic Gift Did YOU Get for the Holidays?
5150 Lego replied to DLuders's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Very cool! The Snow Groomer is the sole techinc set i recieved for Chistmass this. I wanted 8258 crane truck as well, but it was either that, or the snow groomer along with a few other gifts, so i choose to recieve a few other gifts. One being the creator Highway Transport truck. Still waiting to put that one together! The snow groomer is actually better than i expected. Great overall design with creative functions. Looks just like the real thing! Congrats on all the Lego gifts, but i must ask why you would want a Hitler minifig shirt? -
Got got this set last year and mine came with the correct head. Even if it didn't, i don't see the big fuss over a color.

TECHNIC Sets from 2010

Wow! the new sets look great! The Tipper truck is a first for TLC in techinc form i believe, so thats a plus! Looks to be the simular size as the boom truck we got a couple years back. it will be enteresting to see all of the various containers people make. The crane does loook like a baby version (and by baby i mean smaller, not <insert that tiresome argument>) version od 8421. I'm curious how the outriggers extend. It seems like they pivit out from the center of the chassis. If so another first. The excavator is massive! Very cool! This will work well with the 8275 bulldozer of a few years ago. Its a shame though that we recieved an excavator last year. while its smaller in scale with less function, visualy, it looks very simular. Kind of taking away from the inital "Wow!" factor when you first see it. either way, i look forward to more detailed pics! As for the bike, not bad, but nothing special either. -
Then i'd be there to swoop up a few! So what? This isn't the 80's. 6 wide would have given more interior detail. but you never know. TLC might have incorperated some TV screens on the side or somthing. I'm with you 100% on the realisim of the recent Lego planes. Kids also seem to preffer them to the old 4 wides. I just finished going through all of the pics on the flicker acount. Everything looks great! Love the yellow truck. Nice to see a long nose rig instead of the flat nose that TLC was hooked on for so long. Looks alot like a Volvo Semi! Can't wait to start mocing some additional trailers! And if this is old news i apoligise, but the repair truck is now avaible in the U.S. Got one for christmass! (haven't opened it yet though)
-
Very cool. I like the sliding mechanisim. my only suggestion would be to use a standard flat plate instead of the ramp being used. It would look a little more smooth and probably allow loading and unloading eaiser. I also love how you incoperated the winch. Looking good!
-
Your so wrong its not even funny. G1 and G2 were probbly the worst in terms of story and cheeze of any 80's cartoon. And beast wars? Optimus primal? Gime a break.... Lame. But concider all, there are many other atributed that makes TF great. So yes, happy birthday to one of my favorite childhood toys!

Improving the 8258 Crane Truck
5150 Lego replied to jusutus's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Actually, if you really want to be a perfectionist and copy real vehicles, then Milan's sugjestion of useing standard grey wheels for the inside rear wheels are more like the real thing. Real trucks with dual rear wheels that have custom/chrome rims, never have matching inside wheels unless the wheel diameter has been changed. Since there not seen, it would be a waste of money. Some aftermarket wheels for dual rear wheeled trucks don't even have provisions of swapping them to the inside for tire rotation mantainence. -
Renault has confirmed they are staying in F1. You guys think Shumi will drive for Mercades?

For a clone brand, this is great! I'd kill for somthing simular to this in Lego. It would be better if the bottom didn't have the big one piece wings s you could make a bomb bay.
