Techinc Trailers and trucks
5150 Lego posted a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
So i tried this once before, but couldn't post pics up at the time. I manged to made a folder on brickshelf for one trailer, but the other two were left out. So here we are. I'll start with the one i previously posted, my two axal goose neck trailer. This is a tipical trailer used to haul medium to heavy equipment Its made to tow behind fullsize pickup trucks, and meduim duty "mini semi" trucks. It hitches up to the truck by way of a ball mounted in the truck bed over the rear axle. This givesthe truck much better stability to haul larger loads. The landing gear is hand cranked so the truck can hitch/unhitch on uneven ground. Another pic with a tipical back hoe that you would see on trailers like this. The next trailer is a boat trailer i use to haul 7244 speed boat. Though this is not a techinc boat, there was obviouosy nothing in the city line big enough to tow such a large behemoth! Needed a way to get it from the garage to the ocean and or lake, this was it! The trailer has a winch system to pull the boat onto the trailer when its being picked at the boat launch as well as locking it donw to the trailer during transport between races. Its a 3 axle unit, with full suspention and hitches ot the truck via a standard bumper hitch. Shot with it hooked up to the truck, ready to go racie'in! Here we have the cream of the crop! This is my heavy duty low bed semi trailer. This is whati use when i need to get the real heavy equipment to the job site. its over 2 feet long, and can haul 2 peices of equipment. It also has a rear hitch whitch allows a second trialer to be hitched up if needed. It has a fold down rampin the back, and storage up front for chains and warning cones and such. The landing gear is the same as the goose neck trailer. It hitchs to the truck via standard king pin on the trialer, and 5th wheel on the truck. This type of hitch is needed to haul such heavy loads. I buitl this trailer spesifically for my 3 axle 8436 truck. I built it with the crane arm because i knew that i was going to build a trailer like this beforei even bought it. I added the third axle casue not only does it look better, but it really needed to support all the weight from the trailer when it was fully loads with construction equipment and such. A shot with truck and trailer hitched up ready to go. Thanks for looking. You can see the rest of the pics at my Brickshelf gallery. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=266886 -
Brickshelf moc.. Power shovel

This has to be one of the best mocs i've ever seen. Detail, and size are incredible! enjoy! The Brickshelf Gallery Edit Bonaparte: Added picture -
Agreed. Saw this a few weeks ago. Meh. The visuals were great, but thats were it stops for me. The story was lack luster and unoriginal. It also was very predictable. So much so, i felt like i had already seen the movie before i actually did.

Chrysler and Dodge are the same company. Only difference with most of there models is the sheet metal. Chassis, engine, transmission are all the same with models built on the same chassis.
-
The Sauber team is going to be a force on the track. Kob. was very impressive racing in Glocks place for the last few races in 09'. As for Renault, i'm thinking your right KimT, Grosjean will more than likely take the second seat. At least he deserves to.

XBOX has never, and probbly never will do well in Japan. They are very loyal to Sony and especialy Nintendeo. Always has, always will.

MOC: Trailer for 8258 Crane Truck

Looks great! Do the wheels steer? -
I believe he's captured the look very well. It resembles a long bed American Pickup truck with the rear wheels being placed back rather than the center of the bed. Very nice!
-
I would welcome a remake of that set. I too wished i could have had that when i was little. I doubt that Police cars would be the same as in 05 though. maybe the motorcyles, but the cars and trucks hopfully are a little different.
-
Didn't need to. I was long out of school with my own ride. I had a VW GTI back then.
-
New police for 2011'? I sure don't fear it. In fact, i welcome it. I think a new police station is a strong possibility, as are new harbor sets. I think a civilian Yacht would be pretty cool. As well as a truck with boat of some sort.

Also now we can have one trash can for Garbage, and one for recycling. Great for houses or even in the back of the modular buildings! I recieved this set for Christmass and love it! Very simple, yet lots of playability.

LOL. Really? how so? I know i have a few american cars/trucks, but i thought my list was spread out. It also used the exact same chassis as the VW Bettle/Jetta/Golf uses. I used to tease my dad that he had a "rich mans beetle" LOL! Now how did i know you were going to pick that? Good choice little buddy!

my dad had two TT's. His first was a TT Quattro with the 180hp 1.8T motor. He modded a bit with a Rieger body kit, H&R coilover suspension, Neuspeed intake (i think they went out of business some years ago), Borla exhaust, custom stereo, 18" wheels and tires, custom painted engine covers, polished strut tower brace, Apexi gauges, Brembro brake rotors. He also had the Audi rings in vinyl on the outside of the car. Normally i don't car for vinyl on the outside of cars or trucks, but it looked really nice and tasteful. Definitely not a "girly" car. His second was the 225hp LMAS edition. He took it easy on the mods for this one. This one had 19" rims, custom intake, ARP chip, and Borla exhaust. Very nice car, but it had alot of issues. Traded it in for a Pontiac GTO which he still has. As for what cars I'd have, this is what i came up with... City car: VW GTI Small family car: Scion XB Large family car: Cadillac CTS-V Executive car: Luxury Car: Cadillac CTS-V Sports car: BMW M3 Grand tourer: I honestly don't know. What is the definition of a "Grand Tourer"? Supercar: Corvette ZR1 Convertible: Mustang GT 500 Roadster: Nissan 350Z Minivan: Ford Windstar..... I guess. 4x4: Toyota FJ Cruiser (Oh wait, i have one! ) Pick-Up: Dodge Ram 3500 with a Cumin's Diesel engine If its OK, I'd like to add a couple... Muscle car: Dodge Challenger SRT8 Classic car: 69' Chevy Camaro SS/RS or a 70' Plymouth Cuda AAR Good discussion Joey Lock!

I remember seeing posters for all the characters over the summer. This movie looks great! I plan to go opening day and see it in D. I agree that American McGee's version would have been more entertaining as well as more "fitting" for an "Alice in Wonderland" movie. Even when i was little i always saw Alice and wonderland as being a bit...Out there. One has to wonder how Alice didn't go syhco dealing with chasing a rabbit, babbling fat twins, and skitsofrentic cat and a 'Mad Hatter".

So by your logic, everything that is expensive is aimed at adults, and cheap stuff is aimed at kids? So i guess since bikes are expensive, they also must be aimed at adults. As well as children's furniture. Because adults have the money to buy their kids toys does not mean the set or any for that matter were aimed at them (adults). Parents have always bought toys for their kids. And yes, some will buy there kids the expensive sets as well. Thats how its always worked. I suggest you look at the "what age are you again?" thread in the community section. You'd be surprised just how many yr olds are on this site. Besides that, its not uncommon for yr or younger to be surfing the web.

He lie to us, then insults us and your defending him? No one was pestering him. Only calling him out on his lies and letting him know that were not going to stand for it.

Sigh... I don't understand why it so difficult to understand that these sets rare made for kids, and not AFOL. Whats kids want- have, and always will decide what sets TLC design. Yes, once in a while we get USC sets or CC or fire Brigade type sets, but when TLC takes a poll for an upcoming set from a website for a toy store-IE- toysrus then one should expect that set to be aimed at kids. I think these are great ideas. Although i doubt we'll be getting a motel of any type. Truck stops generally don't have motels since most truckers stay in their trucks. I expect to see a Diner, gas station of course, an overhead covered area for trucks at rest, and possibly a little shop and even a repair bay. As for trucks, -Flat bed -Small tanker truck -box trailer -civilian car/SUV with family -truck without a trailer No it wasn't. It was simply liked to this website but was hosted on TRU main website. People really need to stop pouting and complain that TLC isn't paying attention to them when they realize a set that isn't to there liking. We don't represent the whole of the Lego community. Having said that, i do believe that TLC does listen and cater to AFOL. This is why we have USC sets, as well as modular sets such as Café Corner, Green Grocer, and Fire Brigade. These sets all have higher detail and more advanced building techniques than your average city sets.

Please just stop. You've been caught in a lie and your response and reasoning is rather pathetic. You've lost everyones trust and respect. At this point, anything you say is going to be considered a lie since its obvious you haven't done any of things you claim to have done. So save yourself further embarrassment and just leave.

So today at work, one of my coworkers informed me that there was a Lego chanel on his satellite TV provider Com cast. He told me the show that came on was about the making of the new city Bulldozer. He's not into Lego at all but said it was pretty cool how they went into the design aspect of the whole model from inspirational pictures, to preliminary designs, to the final model. So has anyone had an opportunity to check this out? It appears this is only availer for Com cast members until the end of January. P.S.- Oops, can a mod please fix my title. Miss spelled "Channel". Sorry about that.

Notice he hasn't replied to anyone concerning "his" Charger. I'm with you. I think he's full of it.

Very well said.

So my Birthday was a couple weeks ago, somy girl friend decided to take me on a trip to the Lego Store! I had intentions of getting either the Coast Gaurd Boat and tower to add to my Coast Gaurd collection, or if they had it the new 1:9 scale ferrari F1. While both sets were there, i cameacross this beauty! I wasn't sure at first, and i acctually left the store and thought about whitch one of the Three i really wanted. Afterone of the most difficult Lego purchasing desisions iv'eever made, i decided that the ferry was the most unquie and made my purchase (or my beautiful girl friend janie did at least ) Well enough of that, on with the review!! Lets start with the small first. In this case it will be the little truck and travel trailer or "caravan" to those from europe. Its a basic 4 wide SUV with some round hinge plates to simulate aroof rack, and some "2.5x1" slope bricks to simulate a roof top cargo carrier. Unfortunetly, the SUV can't fit a mini fig inside. The trailer is small in size, but has good detail. I like the the sloped roof and windows. I'm kind of disapointed that the truck and travel trailer wasn't quite made to mini figure scale, but its nothing a little mocing can't fix! Now on to the cream of the crop,.... The Ferry! letsstart from the front and work our way back. Being a creator set, asone would expect, this is intirely a brick built set. No big "<insert that tiresome argument>"pieces that some people don't like. The front of the hole is intirely brick built. using 3x1 slanted bricks. I think it looks great! Next we have the control tower. There is quite a bit of detail going on here. Here you can see the front deck lights, as the pilot lights and all of the radio antenas and radar dishes. In side, there is a sterring wheel and control levers. At both edges of the control tower are little binoculars for looking down the coastline. Its a really small, but at the same time a very "big" detail that really adds to the realisim of the set. Sorry, i thought i had taken a close up pic of this, but i didn't. Hopfully you can see it in this pic. Behind the tower is a nice little life boat. Its small, but high in detail and another great little touch. Now on to the main event. The front of the hull opens up to allow vehicles accses to the main deck. To open up first you need to unlock the front bow. The opening of the bow is controled by a techinic gears on both sides of the hull here... you can also see the life savers on the side of the hull, and the ancor. The opening of the bow. Its alsoimportant to pointout that the as the bow is opened and closed, the front loading ramp is also rasied and lowered at the same time. There linked toeghter via technic peices and ball and sockets. The next shot shows the front of the bow fully opened and gives a good shot of the transport deck. here we have a shot of the rear of the ferry. Here you can see the rear loading ramp and the mechanisim to lift it. Its controled using the same black technic gear as the bow. Its conected to some lift arma, whitch are then conected to chains. As gear is turned it lifts up the arm, in turn lifting the rear loadind ramp. One important thing i should note,is that the front loadind ramp is really only able to fit a vehisle thats max seven wide, or the withe of the inluded red SUV. The rear loading ramp is cable of handling 8 wide vehicles, witch i will demonstrate later. here we have a shot of the bottom of the ship, and how glides across the ground. It uses 4 off center air plane landing gears. This alows it to move practicly in any direction on a smooth surface. here are a few shots of some vehicles loaded on the deck. This is were having 4 wide vehicles in your gleet comes in handy. you could easily fit 4 four wide cars/trucks on the deck of the ferry. Five, and six wide could fit too, but it will be tight. A shot of just the SUV and Travel trailer exiting the front of the ferry. Now i promised i would ellaborate on the size of the loading deck ofthis beast, and that i will do. Whats this? Looks like the local frieght company needs some help getting one of thier cargo trucks across the river. The crew isn't sure if both the truck and its trailer will fit, but their going to give it a go! Its a tight fit, but she made it!! At $69.99 U.S., with 1,279 pieces this set is a fantasic value. It has great playability while still having enough detail to make a nice display model. Price per peice count- - - - - playability- - - - - design- - - - - Although its a creator set and not city, it would have been nice to fit a mini fig in the tower and vehicles. build- - - - Nothing really speacial in the build, but it was straight forward. Overall- - - .5
