Well it looks like the pic i saw wasn't real (should have known) http://www.autoweek.com/article/20100401/NEWYORK/100409993 Going back to the 4 door. Looks ok, but i liked the hatch alot better. There were quite a few other cars making there presence at the show. One being the Cadilac CTS-V Coupe Edit: won't let me post pics of dynamic images??

I have never understood this complaint. I never had any problems distinguishing the robots fighting each other. Never felt the camera was over shaky. Heck, Bay and company even did quite a few scenes in slow motion to try and combat those complaints. But in the end, your just not going to please everyone. That, or maybe more people need to get glasses.

Saw it already yesterday on drifting.com. Link was taken down pretty quick as it was some kind of spy shot. Wing looked just like i thought it would. Attached to the side of the hatch. Nothing crazy at all like the WRC Focus or anything, just a tall single plane wing. (at least i couldn't see any multiple planes from the shot i saw.

Does anybody else like Motorcycles around here?
5150 Lego replied to Captain Green Hair's topic in Community
Congrats on the purchase. Be very carefull. Thats a whole lot of bike for a beginner. I remember years ago my my friend asked if i would bring back a bike that he planed on purchasing in my then pick-up truck. I agreed and we made a day of it. Upon arrival of the dealer, he found the bike he was looking for. A brand new Kawi 600. Then he saw a deal for a GSXR 1,000. Now i don't know much about bikes, but i knew that the GSXR was the "Ferrari Enzo" of the bike world (well, at least at the time). Like giving a 16yr old the keys to a Ferrari for his first car. I bluntly told him that if he did purchase this bike, he would need to find a way other than my vehicle to take it home. Luckily the salesman had conscious and refused to sell him the bike. In the end he settled with the 600 he originally came in to buy. He layed it down a couple times, and in the end, admitted that it probably would have been better to fully learn on something a tad smaller. He never regretted his purchase, as he did grow into it. Again, congrats on your purchase. Just remember to respect the power. -
CRANE TRUCK 8258

Seems a bit high for a used one. I paid around 175$ USD for a new one in box. But i still seems that Lego is sold out, so these are becoming high demand. In the end, it all depends on you and how bad you want it. -
I never thought i could dislike the redbull team more than i already did... Then i watched the race. Webber, what the hell man?? And as ussual, redbull is plagued with mechanical failures. Doesn't matter how well you drive, or how good your car is, if it can't make it to the finish, then its no better than the new teams being ten seconds off the pase. Aparently Hamiltion never wanted to pit for tires on the second go around. His times reflected that he was doing just fine on the tires he had, but his team decided to bring him in. His fustrastion comes from his compeditors going just fine on one set of tires (not including the intermediate wets) the whole race. He probbly could have had a podiem finish had he not stopped. Now having said that, he should have never, and i meannever gone on the radio and bashed the teams decision to bring him in. Hamiltion my frined, you should know better than that! Very disapointed in you. Though he did run a fantastic race. Worked his way up the field and made some great passes keeping the race interesting. Congrats to Button. Well done! Good to see both Mclarens score some points.

Favorite Summer Blockbuster Movies/Franchises?
5150 Lego replied to FilmGirl27's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Well for me the biggest movie this year is going to be "Predators". I was hoping for a 3rd "Alien vs. Predators" movie, but after seeing the preview for the new movie, i'm not to disapointed. Action look great, and it look to be several predators in this movie. Lawernce Fishburne is a preety good actor, so i'm glad to see him take part. Toy story looks good, but i'm not overly excited. Should be a great movie though. The second was an improvment over the first, so that gives me hope that the third will be an improvement over the 2nd. Though they won't be out till 2011', i'm still looking forward to Transformers 3, and Cars 2. My favprite of the Pixar franchise. Never been a "super hero" kind of guy, so Iron man 2, avengers, etc.. don't interest me much. -
Not nessasarly. Although it might only be 4cly, it is still a forced induction engine. Forced induction generaly requires more fuel for optium performance. And they ussualy always reqqire premium fuel. But check there web site or go to a dealer to find out for sure. More than likely gas mileage isn't going to be that much of difference. Forced incuction engines also generaly wear out faster. But one advantage that the 4cly turbo has over the V6 is that the engine will be more "mod" friendly. (if thats what you like). Because of the engine being turbocharged from the factory, he performance of the engine will respond better to aftermarket modifcations more than its V6 counterpart. Chips, exhausts, intakes, all of these will really open up the performace level. Wether or not it can surpases that of the V6, i don't know, but its not uncommon. Its at least worth looking into.

Considering the movie made over 800 million world wide, some lame award from a bunch of internet geeks doesn't really seem to have any meaning. Ding ding ding! We have a winner! Yes, it is an excuse for CGI robots to beat down each other. As it should be. And to be honest, thats really whats all generations of TF have been. As it seems, you've already judged the movie before even seeing it. Thats a shame. Because no matter how much a movie changes your just going to go into it with a negative attitude (thats if you see it at all). I hope all the rumors are true. Although i really enjoyed both movies, there's always room for improvement. Character development is defiantly the key. But i do hope they don't go over board. This is after all supposed to be an action movie. I think as long as they give all robots meaningfully dialog and decent scene time (not every character is going to get a full back story) then i think they'll be just fine.

Exactly! What I've always wanted an American Muscle car! Why? I'm not in the market for a family car. I'm in the market for a fun and fast "toy". Besides, my FJ Cruiser can fit 4 adults comfortably as well as a car seat if needed for the future. Again, i don't want a family car. My current vehicle works just fine for that. Either the Challenger, or Camaro could be used as track vehicles if i really wanted to, but thats not really my concern. I just want a comfortable, good looking muscle car to drive on occasion and on the weekends. Oh, and just so you know, the 300C you love so much is basically a Challenger with different body panels. The Challenger uses the same chassis as the Chrysler 300C, Dodge Charger/Magnum. When you send that kind of money, (especially a high performance vehicle) the last thing you are worried about (or should be) is gas mileage. As far as price, my company works with a local dodge dealer and i can get the SRT8 for near the same price an the SS Camaro. SO in this case, price won't be the deciding factor. Yes, performance wise the Camaro wins hands down, but i love the looks of the challenger. Plus it felt so right when i sat in one. More so than the Camaro! Exactly! Now your getting it my friend! This is part of the whole "American muscle car" experience! The epicness!! But i must argue, the camaro has a just as much "epicness" as the Challenger, if not more so. Its been around longer, and has much more history than the Challenger. Looks are subjective.

HI guys! Ya, works been crazy. haven't had much time for anything else. well, work and family that is. As for the Austin Mini... Don't care fr it much. The whle purpose of buying a "mini" car is its afordability factor. While it might be affordable compared to a DB9, most "mini" cars are half that price. But i may be in the market for a 2nd vehicle soon. I'm thinking i might pick up one of these... 2010' Chevy Camaro SS. 6-speed manual transmission 426hp V8 Or... Dodge Challenger SRT8. Also 6-speed maual with 425hp V8. I'm leaning more towards the Challenger mainly because i like the looks a little bit more.

There's no confirmation that McLaren or any other team will indeed have to change rear diffusers come the next GP. ANd even if they do, McLaren are already prepared for this. They even brought different rear wings in the event the FIA found there double decker diffuser illegal.

Ahh, the 2010' season has officaly started! should be very interesting. My boy Hami qualified 4th, right behind the Ferrari's and that brat from red bull. Lets go Lew-is, lets go! I have to say, i'm surprised to see Rosberg qualify in front of Shumi. Sure would be funny if he out performed the 7 time world champion through out the intire season!

Not sure about that. Would you have honestly thought that the Scare Crow could have been made into the realistic villain he was portrayed in the first movie? Heath Ledger had a huge affect on the succes on the DK. Not only finacial, but just pulling off the schcotic mind set of the Joker. His acting was amazing, and if it weren't for him, the film wouldn't have done any better than the first (whitch isn't bad. The first movie did well, but know where close to the DK.) His character is really what made the movie memerable. Now thats not to say that the third can't be good. Nolan has proven he can make a great movie, but he has very large shoes to fill. Even if they are his own. Catwoman could easily be done in realistic fashion. At least no more easier than the riddler or the Penguin. Her family gets killed and she turns into a lonely "cat lady" with dozens of cats living with her and goes a little crazy in the process! Heck, she doesn't even need to where a cat suit. Just pike her hair to make ears or something. To the general public, these villain are not well know and probably wouldn't draw in the crowd that a more well know villain would.

By your response, your also assuming quite a bit. Peppmint M pretty much covered it, but i will add one thing. My "assumption" is based that on a situation where one is looking for work and the opportunity such as this came about. This is not unrealistic so i felt it proper in this particular situation. I mirly used them as examples since the majority seemed to share your views. I assure you it doesn't bother me as much as it might have seemed . The career choice example is used was just that. An example. As i said in my previous post there are advantages to taking such a job. And while you said that being a set designer is in no way shape or form a career choice for you, the reasons you gave for not taking a job (to me at least) suggested it might. While i would defiantly agree that working for "bootleg" brands probably wouldn't look well, having worked for direct competition "clone brands" should not hurt your chances of working for TLC. I've never heard of any company turning down a possible employee just because they worked for a competitor in the past. Regardless, its work experience in the field your in.
-
Wow. I have to say I'm a bit flabbergasted by some of the answers here. Regardless of it being a clone brand or not, its a job. A paying job at that. If your fresh out of college and/or just looking for work, you'd be a fool to pass on an opportunity for this type of work (if thats what your looking for at least) just cause your a fan boy. Then work with your company in improving the selection of bricks. My guess if set designers have a strong influence on what new pieces are created. How so? Many clone brands have/are doing licenses and themes that TLC isn't currently doing. How do you know that? How do you know they don't pay just as much as Lego does? I'm not sure what set designers make, but master builders don't make nearly what you think they would make. Hmm.... Maybe to get your foot in the door in the industry and get some experience on your resume? One very rarely gets there dream job fresh out of school. Most have to work there way up.

There really isn't set rule on how to build a car. Or anything built out of lego for that matter. But for me, i always stat with the frame first. I ussualy use plates to conect the front and rear axles together and build off that. But again, there's no set way.

That means that you have cuts or open wounds on your hands. The oil and contaminants are getting in them causing a burning sensation. You could also have sensitive skin.

Anyone here Gorillaz fans? There my absolute favorite band and I just found out yesterday there coming out with a new album on the 8th of March! There new single "Stylo" is avaible for download right now. been jam'in to it all day! I love there sound. It just fun music. No swearing, no deep meanings and for the most part there songs don't have any hidden messages. Just clean, fun music. Really looking forward to the rest of the new album.

And this is pretty much my feelings as well. For me (and this is just the way i see vampires) Vampires have three key things that make them...Well, Vampires. 1.1. Vampires drink blood 2. Vampires are affected by some form of garlic 3. when exposed to sun light, they burn All others such as shape shifting into animals, super strength, sleeping in coffins, pointy ears etc. don't really dictate one being a vampire. These are the basic rules. Yes, they can be bent, but can't be entirely thrown out. For me, having them sparkle not only ruined them as being vampires, but goes against the opposite of what should happen. When one See's someone sparkle in the sunlight, their not going to associate them with vampires. But as i said, this was just one problem i had with the movie as a whole. Considering all the hype, i honestly tried to give the movie a chance, but for the life of me, i just don't see why this movie took off like it did. I guess i have to be a teenage girl to get it. Can those that actually liked this movie please explain what is it they found appealing about this? I really want to know as its bugging the hell out of me!

Not entirely true. Yes, the Mustangs used to drift all used Ford V8's, but it wasn't because the one built with the RB26DETT didn't produce enough power. On the contrary, it actually out performed the stunt cars. When Hot Rod Magazine (yes, hot Rod Magazine, not Sport Compact Car, Super Street on any other Import tuner mag that might have a basis lean) they found the Mustang with the Nissan engine was faster in a straight line than the V8 cars, and had no problem drifting. (though to be fair, the V8 cars suspensions were tuned for drifting and not straight line acceleration) Single turbo swaps on factory twin turbo Japanese I6 engines are nothing new. When big power is needed many teams opt for them. The RB26DETT when built properly, is more than capable of producing 800+ HP reliably. On both single and twin turbo setups. Now what wasn't real was the movies suggested time of performing a swap of that difficulty in one night. It took a full team of 20+ a month to perform the swap. The reason they used V8 muscle as opposed to all Nissan powered stangs was mainly time and money. The movie crew first gave Ryhes Millen (the stunt driver and professional drifter that did the some of the driving for the movie) a mustang with a 302ci V8 that produced around 350HP. He came back and said it wasn't enough power. The team then swapped in a couple 351ci V8 that made anywhere from 375 to 450hp. Still not being enough, the team finally went with a 430ci that made around 500hp in which Rhyes was finally happy with. American carburated V8's are easy to swap, build and get power from. While the RB26DETT can make some serious power, it takes more effort and time. It just wouldn't have had make sense to swap in Nissan engines on every single stunt car being used. Having a "hero car"with a straight body panels, working engine (working, not running at full potential) along with several banged up stunt cars with different running gear is nothing new in the movie car world. Point being while it might be "sack religious" to have a Nissan engine in a Ford, its possible (though it doesn't have any mechanical advantage over using a ford V8) that the car could have performed just as it did in the movie. I'm a gear head as well. Been working around cars my whole life, and have built a few myself. Mainly water cooled VW's, though i prefer Muscle cars. While i understand where your coming from, every movie that focuses on cars has scenes that are unrealistic to give them more of a "wow" factor. I feel this movie did a good job of balancing out whats real, from whats overly done for Hollywood. Well, to get on topic, i feel i need to add a movie to the list... Twilight For the life of me, i don't understand all the hype over this movie. It was absolutely TERRIBLE! Horrible story, horrible acting and the overall movie was boring. I've seen better love stories from pixar movie. And what the hell is up with the vampires "sparkling" in the sun light?!?!? Vampires don't sparkle, they burn!! Honestly, whats the big deal?

This would be the way to go if you are stuck on moddifing the dash. Joey lock, you don't want to fiberglass the intire dash, as it would be more prone to cracking. Its really just for show cars as you can see from the pic you posted. Also, a gloss dash (regardless of color) would blind you as it would reflect everything from the sunlight, to glare on the windshield. You can put a dash mat while driving, but that kinda defets the purpose. Also, please don't add those seat covers. Those are the kinds of things you'd see on some 90's honda civic with fuzzy dize on the mirror. Not on a 350Z. Actually, if he's stuck on modding the dash, that would probbly be the best route. If done right, it can look really good. Expensive, but good.
-
While i agree the second movie sucked, i believe the third was done as well as a hollywood car movie could be done. No CGI affects, and all driving was done by real professional drifters. (the scene where the 350Z drifts up parking lot ramp was really done. That was not a trick). The only reason TDK was decent was because of Heath Ledger. Without him, it would have just been another run of the mill DC comic adaption. There was nothing about it that set it apart or really made it stand out. As far as TF-ROTF, its an acquired taste. Is it perfect? Absolutely not. But people don't want perfect from transforming robots. There more concerned about explosions, special affects, laughing, and just having a good time. For the most part, movies that have the "wow" factor will generally triumph in the box office over those that make you think Problem, by contrast is that the real "import racer scene" while popular, is generally boring. In order to appeal to the masses, bright colors, big rims, wings, stickers etc. were added. The real "import scene" would have involved basically stock Honda's and Toyota's hanging around a MC' Donald's parking till AM. Doesn't exactly make for good cinema. Not making excuses, but unfortunately thats Hollywood and the general public for ya. As far as the Honda's running with Muscle cars, when built right, a 4 banger can run a 10 sec. 1/4 mile and run with the big boys. Warning! There is explicit language in this video. Dyno video of the same Honda that raced the viper Now this of course is an extreme example, but shows with the right know how (and a hole lot of money) one can get some impressive power numbers out of 4Cly. Also notice how stock the car looks. No wild paint seems, crazy colors, neon lighting or the sort. Its all business. When i was a kid street racing, this is a good example of what most of the imports looked like. Although i don't agree with it, its understandable why the producers felt every car needed to look like it was getting ready for a Hot Import Nights car show. Agreed. Trust me, Males between the ages of 16 and 25 thought they had a "race car" long before this movie came out. I was 19 when the first movie came out. I had a 00" Toyota Celica GTS and active in street racing. My friends and I all went to go see the movie together and as you could imagine, the parking lot was littered with little Honda's, Toyota's etc. with fart can mufflers. After the movie was less than enthused because i knew that represented nothing about the "import scene". The 3RD movie was defiantly more accurate in terms of cars and driving. many of the back ground cars were real drift cars that competed in the Formula D drift series. While the opening race was a little far fetched with the Monte Carlo keeping up with the Viper in the dirt, anyone with knowledge of cars would know that it would have had no problems keeping up with the Viper. This is evident when they paned over the engine bay to revile the inch merlin big block. The cars weren't overly done up either. Just enough to get the average movie goers attention and give them that "wow" factor without being gaudy. They worked in the sponsors well too. Instead of plastering Borla stickers all over the Viper, the kid mentioned it had one in an attempt to make his car sound better. Lucas Black used "NOS" in a brief freeway race. No multiple stages used for 5 minutes straight. Just a quick shot like its really used for. The driving was good too. All believable since it was done by real drift drivers. The Th was good too. Though the cars lacked, at least they were followed in the line of FF3 and kept the cars simple and clean. The story wasn't bad either.
