ASK HERE How to clean your LEGO sets/parts?
5150 Lego replied to jngunsw's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I used to use a toothbrush too, but I found it leaves a lot of little scratch marks on my legos. Anyone have any suggestions to get back baseplates that are very covered with dust? Blowing air on it does absolutely nothing, and cleaning all my dirty sets wth a paper towel would take forever... I use a static dust cloth for the main dust, and then a soft tooth brush to get into the crevises. There are differnt stiffness in tooth brushes, so just get a really soft one. Been doing it for years now, and as long as you don't press down to hard, you'll be fine. -
5150 Lego, what was the need to quote/revive a post from january ?? I'm sorry. I didn't realize how long it had been since that post. I opoligise Lego2000 always seems to act better than others and either puts them/their mocs down. I don't recall Dark1 annoying any memebers, but i'll take your word for it. i agree. I oploigise to all that might took affense.

Considering your 12, you have no place talking to this kid the way you are. You run around this forum like your gods gift to lego's and consistanly put people down. Stop it. Your no better then anyone else. And quite frankly that is getting a bit "repetitive and annoying". Hows that for a little "friendly advice"?

New Nitro menace trading for8479 techinc bar code truck
5150 Lego posted a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
So while browsing through Brickshelf, i came across somone that wants to trade 8479 techinc for a Nitro menace. since i don't have a nitro menace, i was going to by one new from lego shop at home brand new. Now the truck is used, but he says al the parts are there, and are in good condition. I' not to familuar with this set, other than it goes for around $200 on brick link, and that you can scan in some bar codes and it will lift up and down, and the rear bucket dumps. So does this sound like a good deal? Is there anything i should know about this set? (in terms of any speacial parts i should make sure are included). This sounds like a really good deal to me. Any help would be great! -
I'd be interested in the techinc sets you have. Please let us know what you have before you list them on ebay!
-
Was wondering if anyone had a tank or 2 they'd like to sell. I'm up for trades as well. Just let me know what you would like in tade, andi'll see what i have. I have alot of techinc parts, as well as regular system. Thanks for looking! Brandon

Want to buy Technic pneumatic air tank
5150 Lego replied to 5150 Lego's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Basically, they're "air batteries"; they're the only things that will store large amounts of air (and therefore energy) so that you can have large-scale pneumatic projects work, without having to re-pump your cylinders after you throw every switch. Personally, I think Lego severely underutilized them in their sets. Most pneumatic sets would be augmented with them, but they don't have them at all! A couple weeks ago, i bought both 8439 techinc front end loader, and 8455 techinc back hoe. The loader came with an air tank, and the back hoe didn't. Let me tell you. Now that i have a set with an air tank, its hard to imagine ANY pneumatic set without one. Espeacially ones with 3 or more cylinders. That is my biggest beef with 8455. With 10 pneumatic cylinders, to takes quite a while to get them moving. Even with 2 pumps. Luckly i was able to grap a couple of tanks for a good price on bricklink and have installed one on 8455. Wow. What a differnce. I'd like to install a second, but i can't find the room for it without drasticly changing the look of the model, or putting it somewhere out of place. Annother set i cam see this being really usefull (and i know glyman will vouch for this ;) )is the airtech claw rig (sorry, can't remeber the set number). With its on board compressor, and an air tank or two, this set woulod deliver endless funtion and play time! -
Want to buy Technic pneumatic air tank
5150 Lego replied to 5150 Lego's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
It's the new "pick-a-tank" display at some Lego stores. :-) Wow. I wish they would have had some good peices like that at my local lego store. They usually only have basic bricks. Once in a blue mood they'll have some technic bricks, but i have more than enough of those now. I guess i can't complain too much though. I was able to complete my trailer project that i made to go with truck 8436 by going through the lego stores pick-a-brick. -
Want to buy Technic pneumatic air tank
5150 Lego replied to 5150 Lego's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Yup. 2 days ago i was lucky enough to pick up 2 brand new for $12.50 each. while i was at it purchased the new tellahandler. One question though.... How do so many people aquire so many of these? And in new condition??? -
You know, i've been staring at these picks and the ones on brickshelf for the past hour and my head has been working. This looks to be a great set, but i've already figured out how i'm going to be moddifing it. Same with the new techinc tow truck. This car would look great with a full role cage, a redesigned dash (i prefer the gauges in front of the driver than in the center concole) and a piston engine. I can't wait to figure out a way to add suspention as well! Does anyone else do this? With any theme? Maybe i just have to much time on my hands. *wub*

I don't think nits supposed to me any paticular car, but i guess to me, it resembles a Honda S2000 the best with its long nose, and sleek back end. Anyone know if this has a working engine? That was my let down about 4404. Car looks great. Looks like its going to have the same seats as in 4404 too. Can't wait!

I think it is a rare ocassion when somebody says anything this blunt or hurtful to a fellow AFOL. Nor do I think that this statement is particularly true. Sure, a MOC may benefit from some form of SNOT-work, but even then, this isn't always the case. I don't always imploy SNOT in my MOCs, but I certainly acknowledge its benefits. Unfortuntly i have to disagree with that coment. Recently i have seen a couple of members basicly bash others mocs. Telling them that there technique of building wasn't any good. This really bugs me. There's nothing wrong with giving some contructive critisim, but i don't fell ANYONE has the right to bash anyone elses techique. Anyways, back on topic, i voted for number 2. I think its usefull, but not a neccesity. Though i have found myself using this "methoed" a bit more. To be honest, i personly don't have a paticular builing style. I just do what looks good for what ever prodject i'm working on.

I acctually did moc this when i was like 12 or so. i had made a yellow truck and beach tower. No joke.

The cars do look better than the first two movies. Don't look as stickered up. What really sucks is that 67 mustang has a nissan skyline engine in it. Oh well. I really hope that the drifting in this isn't far fetched. They did have Reese Millen, and Sam Hubenitte ( see my avatar;) )as stunt drivers. There the top a couple of the best U.S. drifters, that gives me some hope that the movie will be good.
-
3rd movie in the series. Being a car enthusiest i was never impressed by the first two movies since the stunts and cars didn't really reflect what you see on the street. Many parts were just two far fetched, espeaciallyin the second movie. But i am a fan of drifting, so i'll give this one a chance. Besides, it doesn't look as bad as the first two. :-P Anyways, enjoy. http://movies.yahoo.com/shop?d=hv&id=1808715999&cf=info

LOL. I was actullay thinking ofgetting the bellvile cabin cruiser. Would make a great techinc size boat. I'd have to change out all the pink bricks of course. ;-) Ithink this would also look great being towed behind set 4404!
-
Glad you like the set. I have it myself, and am quite pleased with it as well. I modified mine with a racing interiour, and role cage! Came out preety decent. As for the speacial peices, i'd have to agree. The hub caps, and front wheel arches seem to be the only "speacial" peices to me as well. The hood is nothing speacial. Been around for years now. They also used it in some house roofs.

There's been alot of discusion about a few techinic sets in the last recent weeks, so i was going to do a review on a couple, as i was also asked to give my opinion by a couple of memebers on some older sets i bought . Butone thing i've noticed is thatit seems that all the mods have done the full reviews. Is a regular memeber allowed to do a review,or is this a mod only thing? Sorry if this is a dumb question. Though iv'e been here a couple months, i don't want to break any rules.

So for my girlfrineds graduation of here nursing school, i took her to here favorite store at the mall for some shopping. The store just happened to be in the same mall that the lego store. X-D After she was done with her shopping, i decided to do some of my own. Ireally just wanted togo through the pic your parts, since there was a few parts i needed for a prodject i'm doing. Unfortunutly, they didn't have the parts i needed, but i found a couple in a some small set bags to build a duck, and a rabbit. You know, the sets they have for like $2? I bought 4 bags,so the total was 8 bucks and some change. "this is is smallest amount i've seen you spend here!" The lego employee said. "Ya,and all i need is like 4 parts or so from each bag." Really? Hold on to your money a sec, and follow me". She took me to the back room, and showed me a few sets they had taken down from the display. "You see any parts you need from these?" "Umm...No. Nothing really." I replied. "Well, these are old display items, you can have them if you want." I was in shock. Turns out that they were getting ready to redo there hole store in a batman theme,so they were changing there hole displays. When there done with the old displays, the give them away! X-D X-D X-D So in all, i left with a bionicle fort, a Bellvile house (great cabniets, and other house pieces that will work great in my Techinc 5th wheel trailer!) 2 exo force robots, a ferrari pit stop, a 1:17 Enzo, and an XXl Mobile crane! All for free! The only bad ting is that the feet of the Exo force sets are glued toegther, and soare the outriggers on the crane. :-( Oh well.I already have an XXL crane, and the exo force i'll justs scrap them for parts. I also got a peek of some batman sets already built going up in there new display!

Are only mods allowed to do photo reviews?
5150 Lego replied to 5150 Lego's topic in Forum Information and Help
Well,i was planning on dooing 3 reviews by next week. One was for a set that is curently in stores, and was released summer of last year. The other two are discontinued sets. The set still in stores has had different likes and dislikes by differnt members, and thought a picture review would help clear up some of those issues. I recently bought the two discontinued sets, and wasaskedby a couple of memebers if i could share my opinions on them. Both sets are seem to demand a high price on bricklink and other related sites, so they wanted somefeed back before there final desicion. I don't expect the them to be pinned, just wanted tohelp out some fellow EB memebers. :-) -

Technic - "old" vs "new"
5150 Lego replied to Hobbes's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I met a guy the other day who's selling off his old stuff (private only, though, no ebay or anything) and he might have one or two. He definitely has pneumatic stuff. I'll let you know once he checks back with me. Depending on how many he can find we can trade cos I don't need that many ;-) Thanks hobbes! If you don't buy all of his pneumatic parts, please let me know, as i'm sure i'll be interested in the rest of the loot! HOpfully he has a few air tanks. I'm sure we can work out a deal. *y* No biggie. Thanks for the help anyways! As you can see, not all hope is lost. :)
