    Bricklinking Modular Buildings

As far as the Cafe Corner goes, I've gotten al my parts directly through PaB and BNP apart form the skis, blue arches and blue pillars. I did substitute the windows and doors though. But that means that about 98% of my Cafe Corner was ordered with new parts directly from LEGO

    Bricklinking Modular Buildings

So, yesterday my final order came in. After sorting I realised i forgot 6-7 parts (bummer) but that couldn't hold me back from starting the build. I already have a bricklinked green grocer that has an extra middle level (I'm currently in the middle of ordering one extra level for all my modulars). So this time around I made a Sand Blue Grocer. The awning was changed to dark red, earth green replaced by earth blue, tan to white, curtains became purple and I did a mirrored build on it. Here's a pic: Although I do like the way it came out, to me the sand blue looks too much like light bley... so the amount of color contrast between the two is less than for instance the green grocer. This could be helped by reversing the white back to tan... but I don't like the tan/sand blue combination. Cheers!

I'm still amazad at how good the grocer looks compared to the other modulars (old and new) so.... Last weekend I placed my orders for a second one. This time I only needed 1 PaB and 1 BnP order plus a very small BL order for the grooved pieces, blue bows and curtains. I also added enough sand blue part to be able to convert it to a sand blue one. I'm contemplating about mirror building this one when all the parts arrive. I'll post pics when ready. Good luck to all out there! Green grooved pieces are becoming horribly scarce.

[LDD Contest] My Dream Home - Modern House

A good thing there is a Porsche in that garage. If it were a red italian sportscar, this house would be too reminiscent of a famous eighties teenmovie ;-) Beautiful work! Spacious and well thought out.
  5. All nine modulars (with the exception of the "market"part of market street) are present!
  6. And your point would be?

    Bricklinking Modular Buildings

For the upper balcony i used 18274 (6 long bar with thick stop) and for the lower balcony i actually used part 87994 (2 pc side by side) in order for the skeleton legs not to end up in front of the windows. The skeleton feet are not connected to the wall. Although this way of constructing the balcony does not allow the doors to open completely, i felt it sure looked the part compared to the original.

I know exactly what you mean. I too started off using the panels with side supports, but I eventueally switched them for 20 windowframes and haven't looked back since. See my previous post (page 16) for the pictures of my CC. I opted for the regular blue but didn't hassle with the minifigs. Still.... quite nice you're also collecting the appropriate figs with the sets. For me, that was the most difficult part... the balconies. I allready had 3 white (yellowed) tabless hoses from my old collection... but instead I opted for another solution that I haven't seen done by anyone else. See my pics on page 16 for my option using bars and skeleton legs. So ehm... let's see those pictures!!

    Bricklinking Modular Buildings

I utilised element ID 4534267 for the cafe front door using a black 60596 doorframe. The side hotel door was made with element ID 4521504 combined with a light bley 60596 doorframe. I used the exact same pieces for my Market Street doors (plus a 4521943 and white 60596 for the balcony). This means you'll need some mods for these doors are a little higher. For the most part though, the mods are pretty self explanatory. My quest for these 3 first modulars was my first attempt at using BL, PaB and BnP. It worked quite well! still waiting on one optional lot to come in, and then I'll post my pics. I'm located in Holland, so no official store for me either. Good luck!

    Bricklinking Modular Buildings

I replaced a lot of turntables with part 87580 (sometimes it required a bit of modding). It also comes in a lot of colors that sometimes suit the model better than regular bley or black IMHO. My doors are all the "new" 6 high doors... I think they work quite well and are available through all well known sources. The blue pillars are not too expensive through bricklink and they sure make the model shine on streel level.

Thankfully! I'm 99,9% done on my CC using some replacements. Finding a boxed CC for 500 bucks would be a sweet find though..

Same here, still awaiting my LEGO order (mine was ordered a bit later so I'm still patient). When it has arrived, I'll post some pics of my modulars that I ordered through PaB, BL and BnP.

    [75059] Sandcrawler

I know this has been discussed to death already but still.... US $299.99 is DE 216.30€ and not DE 299.99€ Would this set be around 230€... It would land on my shelf. However... for now, I'll keep it parked@lego and wait for a good discount. Anyway, the design is very nice and I like the revisit LEGO did to this set.

OMG since when has that sacrilege been upped to the term 'tradition'? :-)

    Bricklinking Modular Buildings

Wow, great progress so far Sin! Last weekend most of my parts arrived to finish up my GG, CC and MS (still missing the odd bit and piece but it's getting there). My mods are more or less the same as yours: 1x8 sandgreens replaced by 1x4 and 1x6 plus the trainwindows replaced by the current 1x2x3 windows on GG. My CC uses the latter windows too and includes the same 6 high doors as yours (although I used a light bley frame on the side door). Still waiting on the arrival of 2 blue pillars and the old style skis for that one. My MS is pretty much built up using all new parts including the replacement of the 1x2 grilles with masonry bricks. Once again I chose light bley doorframes for that one and my balcony solution differs from yours.. I chose to go for the route that the lego movie made and made the balconies using the 6L stick with stop and 3 battledroid arms. I've read here that most people are planning to replace the faux windows at the back of the building. I chose not to for the faux windows are a bit of (dutch?) heritage. In the past, peoples wealth was shown by the number of windows they had in their house. To cover up a limited number of windows, it was common to paint faux windows on your house. I like that detail so for me, the faux windows are there to stay. Brick on everyone! (I'll post pics when completely done)

    Bricklinking Modular Buildings

I've been following this topic with great interest and I am too, getting the first three modulars through various PAB, BNP and BL orders. Great to see some preliminairy results!!
  18. My thoughts exactly! I wanted to buy 3 and make multi movie variations.. Now I'm having mixed feelings. However! My new goal: I like the original Cuusoo model, so I'll probably be bricklinking the original one... That way, I still get what I wanted in the first place. It's a shame TLG made me wait so long to do something I could have done months ago.

LEGO Star Wars 10236 Ewok Village

250 USD makes a perfect gift when i'm on holiday in NYC! 250 EUR is, as always, a ridicilous high transfer rate for us europeans... Anywho, great set and long awaited. I myself only collect OT sets, and this will be a nice addition, but IMHO not above the level of the Death Star. Just imagine... TLG is giving us huge playsets of iconic moviesets/scenes.... I'd better save up for that mighty Bespin set that is bound to be redone. Cheers! JC F.K.A. MalastarianMadness
