[OL - CH2A] An Innovative Carriage
The Sarge replied to The Sarge's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Thank you! This was my inspiration for the gun carriage. Extra wadding is used to keep the ball in the cannon, and the carriage stays pretty much in place as the gun recoil up the slot. Thanks, I was worried I'd built the background for naught, since it was so unfocused. I think next time I'll work on setting up the shot so it's all in focus. -
Thank you! It's natural sunlight, but there weren't any clouds out to cut the harshness down, which I think made it a little bright.

Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Introduction and Starting Thread
The Sarge replied to SkaForHire's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I was having trouble with my touch screen and Swift's form got submitted as a Class 4 something. It should be a 1F, could someone fix that in the ship registry? Thanks.- 2287 replies

Thanks! I had the opportunity to use some natural sunshine in a clear sky today for photos - very rare in March here! I'm glad it worked out ok, I was a little worried about the shadows. I'll see what I can do about an overview during my next photo session. Thanks! I had fun setting up the poses - the bowman with the nocked arrow has a little piece of flex tube inside his hand, slit along the face to grab the feathers. That took me a good 20 minutes to manipulate into place. And of course we didn't start it! Don't believe that other propaganda, we're not savages.

Thank you both! I wanted to match the colors to KB's big merchant ships, as if they were all owned by the same company. -
[OL-Ch2A] Fort in Astrapi, Île de Zeus
The Sarge replied to Gideon's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
A fitting fort for the Île de Zeus! The whole thing is great, but little spikes atop each cone are the best detail I think. Great photo setup too. -

That's a sharp reminder of reality there! His next ship ought to be named the "Honeydew"... honey do this, honey do that... -

I love it! The story is great, although that captain was very irresponsible - leaving then with only three days of freshwater before they'd found a place to replenish! The crows nest above the house reminds me of that old "Gunsmoke" episode - absolutely wonderful.- 22 replies

Very nice! With the amount of rock in that hole, he's going to need a pick soon - and hopefully a smelter not long after that! -

Thank you! @Captain Genaro, those are Brickarms U-clips. You can see them in use on the mast as well. -

Thanks! Why are you worried? Ponytails were the standard haircut of soldiers and naval sailors at the time, and fairly common among the general populace for men as well! -

That's an excellent application for that technique in the water! I've always seen it used for sandbags oe circular walls. Everything else is very nice as well.- 21 replies

We have built a powder mill with an undershirt wheel to produce gunpowder here. Making it here will save a goodly amount on shipment costs, and hopefully will allow us to more easily protect the colonies that we have been blessed with. Honoré Sarrazin I wanted to try out Gideon's wall technique. I think I did ok, although I'm not altogether happy with it.
