Thanks guys! The outer rods are held in by friction, the innermost one is a Technic hose, which runs though the hole in the bottom of the barrel, and is attached to the base.

Great MOC Gecko, I seems that Squiddy is better off than he thinks. I like the 'bars' in the door, and his hat especially.
